  • Is there anyone in the nba who can defend as dirty as bill laimbeer?

  • @TheLolMonsterQQ I say Bruce Bowen.. That sneaky bastard..

  • Pffff look at how teams in that area played defense.....you don't see that now a days anymore;(

  • I grew up watching Larry and the Celts, remember hating on Lambier so hard, and Benson was a Piston too, Larry hated that MF from college days

  • Bird was the Man! Every time he stepped on the court he wrote another chapter to the Larry Legend.

  • best old school player of all time!

  • do you know how much that jersey is worth

  • @UKwildcatfan1985 before the 90's white people were good at sports then blacks started taking drugs, basketball and American football started discriminating against non-black players, and now you have the teams the way they are today. Plus black people like basketball a lot more than white people and even fewer white people like it now.

  • @FrogWalrus People, don't listen to ignorant hateful racist fucks like these, cuz you'll be just as idiotic...

    1) drugs have been in sports since the original olympics

    2) The toughest, fittest slaves were bred together so 'massa' could have a slave child that could work hard and the genes just carried on to make us (more times than not) NATURALLY more athletic than the average white person.

3)u guys play like you dance, stiffly with no rythm

-but im just one more nigger to u, so...

  • @BallsAndAdick A little self awareness can go a long way. I agree... YouTube is over-ran by racists and retarded gang bangers. You speak of race and then refer to an entire race as "u guys". Wouldn't that also make you a racist? Also, to generalize a whole race's physical attributes is parallel with Nazi philosophy. The "selective breeding" argument also is over-blown and leaves out the fact that these rare "breeders" sought out "simple minded" traits among workers.

  • Laimbeer throws his elbows like Garnett does... KG is one hell of a player but too bad he is a dirty player...

  • Thank you for posting this video. Laimbeer was a diry ass player and the best revenge is ultimate sucess. I love it....

  • Fucking Laimbeer

  • I'll take Magic too just to be greedy. :D

  • Dr.J still beat his ass

  • @prophecy505 while he was held by Dr J teammates

  • @prophecy505.. yeah Dr. J is a wicked tough dude . not one scratch on Bird after two beasts were on his back ( moses malone and charles barkley ) and PUSSY Dr. J jabbing at him.

Regardless of what happened or how it was started, Dr. J was and probally still is a bitch hitting Bird while he was being strangled by Malone and bearhugged by Barkley PERIOD

prophecy505 ...i bet your a cunt just like Dr. Gay

  • @hanley33 Bet im not a cunt, bet im a 2 time golden glove champ, muay thai specialist, and a guy who will be going pro at the top of the year, and possibly one of the greatest defensive boxer you will ever see, shine my medals plz

  • @prophecy505 No I don't think so.

  • @MmeDesgranges lol wax my trophy while ur at it, and btw im a die hard celtics fan i like bird, but pierce is the greatest celtic of all time, along with ray allen

  • I'll take 20 rings(Bird,Jordan and Bill Russell)over 10 rings(Shaq,Nowitzki and KoBITCH).

  • Shaq Kobe Nowitzki

  • gimme bird , jordan & russel & ill beat any team u could ever throw together !!!

  • @trikgod Magic at PG, Ray Allen at 2, Peirce at 3, Blake Griffen at 4 or maybe garnett, Shaq, or Abdul-Jabbar at center....cmon u gotta admit thats a good starting line up

  • @prophecy505 ray allen over jordan and kobe? not sure about that must be better than pierce at 3 like lebron, Dr J or Bird. i'd go garnett closely over nowitzky for D and then Olajuwon at C maybe isiah thomas at PG because i love him! or steve nash

  • I love all these nuthuggers who don't even watch NBA, on Birds nuts for not retaliating and just scoring then ridiculing todays nba players. You know how many fights the Celtics took part in back in those days? Yes Bird was there too idiots.

  • And cheers, to Larry Legend and all Celtics fans.

  • Who is calling this game? It sounds familiar...It sounds like Cousy, actually..?

  • This is why Larry is a legend.. Instead of throwing punches like most NBA players do, he just gets up, and kick ass with his play

  • @tyklug2013 Watch more hoops idiot. Bird had his fair share of fights. Quit talking out of your ass.

  • Wtf . Hes to filithy fuck man . SWISHERS

  • who wears short shorts I WEAR SHORT SHORTS

  • @Tazzarinaa fuck up

  • @mtWHITE100 you mad?? not my fault your fatass mom wont let you on the computer past 8

  • @Tazzarinaa oh very mature only kids with experience say that

  • @mtWHITE100 Dude stfu take your random ass somewhere else

  • @Tazzarinaa ur the random one

  • @mtWHITE100 as random as the corners your mom works

  • @Tazzarinaa huh? my mom is an accountant there arent corners in numbers lol u stupid girl

  • @mtWHITE100 she accounts for a dick in her mouth haha

  • @Tazzarinaa haha exactly what a muslim would say

  • @mtWHITE100 FAR from muslim, I just like to say stupid stuff

  • @Tazzarinaa what? u insulting my religion now? gtfo

  • @mtWHITE100 shut cho ass up

  • Man, I have to say this, Bird look sexy in that pant.

  • That's why he is a legend.

  • Fucking class act. After getting hit in the mouth and getting no call. He keeps quiet walks up and butchers you on the offensive end. Larry legend Larry Legend.

  • @Robinqq11

Larry was an assassin, he had that killer mindset.

  • BACK WHEN THE SHORTS WERE EXTRA SHORT LOL.

  • Could you imagine if this happened to a player like Kobe?.... he would be crying and be out of action for a year

  • That couldn't be more awesome. Classic Larry lore.

  • What's really scary is that almost all of those shots are nothing but net

No rim, no backboard, just SWISH

  • Dirk Nowitzki and Larry Bird...Two really tough guys as well as GREAT players...

  • @deetjay1 dirks no larry bird, in skill or toughness

  • @juicepouch1

I've met both...Larry when he came to Amarillo to play a MVC game against West Texas A&M...And Dirk...Watched them both play...Dirk will join him one day in the hall of fame...Your opinion is YOUR opinion...Nuff said...

  • GREAT VIDEO. bird handles this like a man!

  • Now that's basketball. He doesnt jump up and down and yell everytime he scores, like he won the championship on every basket. Kills them quietly!

  • Today's superstars are such crybabies compared to the Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan era

  • Is that Bob Cousy announcing?

  • Larry Bird is a god!

  • he was a god!

  • @RamsesXVVVII but he called jordan a god

  • What a Show was right!Larry if your reading any of this stuff,,sure miss your play and hope you and your family are well...thanks

  • Go on YouTube and watch the video

    When The Game Was Ours

  • He has 36.....probably 38!! ha!

  • you notice there isnt a whistle every 5 seconds ... bc this is real shit!

  • @tankchilli most nba players wouldn't survive in this time this video is in

  • @tankchilli i agree but ironically at the 5 second mark of the video there was a foul lol.

  • I have to admit.. I thought this was gonna be a video of players smashing Bird after seeing the first two plays haa.. Bird Killed them!

  • Larry Bird showed that you DO NOT NEED athleticism to be great at playing basketball ;)

  • @kevinguapo01

larry bird was 6'8" and athletic as hell. ask any of his opponents if he was athletic. are you assuming he was not just because of his skin color?

  • @Yzurri are you serious?! i'm saying that you if you COMPARE him to OTHERS such as D-Wilkins, MJ and Dr. J, then he's NOT athletic. He can't run, jump or dunk as good as them. But the awesome thing about him is that he DOESN'T NEED to.

  • @Yzurri its very well documented that he was not athletic. But he was one of the smartest players ever to play the game

  • Kelly Tripucka getting abused.

  • when larry gets mad he scores but i dnt see as much explosiveness as the players today like wade lebron. also the fans dont seem as excited as today. but thts just my opinion thru what i see.

  • @OsanaiE trust me he had alot of explosiveness, just check out some of the other bird highlight vids on the side section. and the fans were def excited, old vids just blur that sometimes because of the poor quality

  • @413hey its cuz all i see from bird is shooting. dnt get me wrong its fine but i like to see driving into the lane dunks and all tht

  • @OsanaiE larry bird wasnt explosive, but he was good anyway. obv you arnt going to see him being athletic

  • @jackpfree i know. it doesnt matter if he is athletic or not. as long as he can put the ball in the basket by i prefer to see athletisicm.

  • @OsanaiE Bird was never explosive in an athletic point of view but once he enters the court... no amount of wade, james or kobe can match his tenacity. rest assured he will bury u alive... without the athleticism.

  • Wow most of those scores are against single coverage, there is no help coming at all, and a couple times he is wide open... and most of t hese players are slow as hell compared to NBA players these days. His post moves are nice, but the defense looks like shit. Over rated fuckin defense lol.

  • @H1Cypher check out "Larry Bird the best ever" vid

  • @H1Cypher Bird rapes double teams if you aren't aware. Passing did wonders for Bird and Magic.

  • @Agenthai7 I wanna hear your reasoning on why everyone looks a half step slower than an nonathletic white guy. Defense back then was way over rated other than the 'hard play'.

  • @H1Cypher Bird had arguably the highest basketball IQ in the game. When you can read the situation, doesn't matter how athletic the opponent is. You know what they're going to do and you supposedly have a plan to attack/defend it. I wouldn't really overrate defense back then. It was based on physicality and team effort which compensates for a less athletic era (compared to probably now).

  • He sonned Laimbeer.

  • now if a player got blood on their face or shirt these days, then they would need to stop the game.

  • I always hated that Boston wood. dam that court is sexy...love/hate

  • this guy can school a lot of current nba players today. and fuck laimbeer he sucks.

  • This is defintely motivational to aspiring athletes. Coaches ought to show it at team meetings.

  • Just enjoy Bird for being one of the best you will ever see! Don't mention magic or michael. I will say that the three compose the three best players I've ever seen

  • You could never accuse Laimbeer of being smart. Pulled that crap his entire career.

  • Larry Bird is a Gangster. No Bitchin, just comes back hard.

  • a SF guarding and posting up a center??? ive only seen bird do it.

  • What i learned from this video: Don't fuck with larry bird.

  • i'm the shallow hal of basketball statistics and i say the greatest basketbal player is the one with the most field goals. that would be alcindor.

  • @macbolan00 He also had the most fouls thou, and I believe technicals. But wallace might be beating him now. not 100 percent. But im with you, Kareem is one of my faves, and imo, the best center.

  • Comment removed

  • gil ws great on celtics..

  • I too lived in Boston then. Good times. Like living in Rome during the empire. Celtic pride was in the air. I still remember watching the games with my Dad. There will never be another Larry Bird. Never.

  • hmmmm...bird had a 49.6% FGA for his career and MJ 49.7% for his career. Watched both of them play and didn't have a clue that MJ had a better FGA.

  • @hoochymama 2 of the GREATEST! MJ had a ton of dunks while Bird was shooting from all over the court. If you can sky and dunk like MJ it helps the FG %. Bird played with a very bad back for years.Bird laughed and held up his right index finger. "This," he says. The finger is shaped like a boomerang, bent toward his thumb at a 45-degree angle. 2 operations failed to straighten it; he can bend it only halfway to his palm. Search YouTube for these 2

    Larry Bird's Back

MJ 43 points at age 40.

  • Oh have you not heard? It was my understanding that you heard. BIRD BIRD BIRD BIRD BIRD BIRD BIRD IS THE WORD BIRD BIRD BIRD BIRD BIRD!

  • Can you imagine the whiners in the NBA getting fouled like this now? They would be crying, whining, wanting to fight..........Bird just said "It's basketball so let's get some." and then killed you on the court.

  • @bturner20 lol fag youz didnt saw the video larry bird and dr. j fight during a game ?

  • @MrJoelouisbarrow Of course...............it's because Bird was beating that ass on the court and they couldn't stand it.

  • @bturner20 You just wrote, in my opinion, one of the most fulfilling comments I have ever read!

  • @bturner20 fkn aye.. lil bitches on the court nowadays.. hahahaha.. if that was me i would just play through it too just like larry bird.. lil girls in the nba deez days -_- smh

  • @DaLukaXD I highly doubt that

  • @Hinasil goo goo

  • @DaLukaXD Saskatoon?

  • @bturner20 good thing there's still star players with attitudes like Derrick Rose

  • I'd love to see Bird play against the chumps in the league today.

  • ...because he might knock you up and then be a deadbeat to your daughter?

  • damn sure miss watching you larry, was a boston fan when you were playing.Miss your tenacity and smart play...i have to admit a miss Jordan too..nba lost its pizzaz for mel, when these two fellas left the game..wish you two well it was quite a ride!great memories..

  • My only regret is not being born to watch bird play. By the time I started watching ball (89) bird had no spine, no knees, and no achillies

  • kelly tripuke couldn't play D on a statue, not that bird wasn['t great when he was pissed

  • Larry Bird= One man wrecking crew

  • haha watch the ref walk past bird while hes on the floor like he doesnt give a fuck. These days, that would be a flagrant-2, half the celtics bench and all the refs would be surrounding bird asking if hes ok. I miss the old school

  • @DrmrGuy1979 I never use the term, "just," with very good players.

If you are going to count the sum of parts used to evaluate a great/excellent player, defense must be included. Bird was a good "team defender" at best. At worst, he was a defensive liability.

His name will never be mentioned in conversations about the best defenders of that era. Jordan's will. Pippen's will. Not Bird's. Never.

  • @03life30

Before you degrade Bird's defensive skills you'd better watch this video. Look at the rankings and you'll see he was better than you gave him credit for:

    youtube.com/watch?v=Z7Ixy8Uttq0

  • @fr6313 Bird was All Defensive Second Team two or three times during his 12 year career in the NBA. Now, that does not make him a great defender. He did have exceptionally quick hands, played the passing lanes well, and was probably much better guarding the post, than the wing.

He had a lot of help (e.g. McHale, Parish, etc.) though, which allowed him to roam/relax as if in a zone. When, on occasion, Bird was assigned the other team's 1st or 2nd scorer, he was beaten badly.

  • @03life30 if u make all defensive team, it means you are a good defender.

  • @genericname38 But not a great one. And, for that matter, not a consistently "good" one either (unless, that is, you consider three times in 12 years to be something exceptional - I certainly do not).

  • @03life30 hey Dj too

  • Bird was a very good player on a great team. Same with Magic. Their teams were ready-made.

Conversely, Jordan was an excellent player on a mediocre team. Same with Isiah.

  • There is no evidence to back up the claim that MJ had a bad team around him. He played with two eventual HOF'ers, the ridiculously talented Scottie Pippen, and one of the greatest rebounders in NBA history, Dennis Rodman. Yeah, that must have been terrible.

  • @ACrazyCommunist Bird's Celltics (as with Magic's Lakers) were stacked from jump street, so Bird's matriculation was much less taxing on him, when compared to the years Jordan and Isiah had to endure on horrible teams. The evidence is listed on their respective rosters.

    It's not even close.

  • notice at 0:23 when bird got knocked down no one helped him up. i thought player number 8 was gonna help him up but he just ran quickly to the sideline to inbound the ball.

    total a-holes.

  • the only player magic admitted being scarred to play.. larry says fuck yo couch

  • @snaxnb Magic never said that.

  • @binka21 He did say that... look it up lol. Magic said he was afraid of playing against larry bird.

  • @binka21 /watch?v=ULvo7__wwBU

    First 20 seconds

  • @binka21 Yes,he said that.

  • larry bird just shitted on everyone .

  • MJ had the most athletic skill, the largest repertoire of moves, the most clutch moments and is often regarded as being the greatest athlete in all sports. Bird had the strongest work ethic but that will only get you so far against God given talent.

  • @cosmonautiks Couldn't agree more and all of Bird was one of the most humble men to play. Jordan had video of him in the weight room etc, I like how Bird did not do that often. I look at him not just the greatest to play but you see the mans character through his actions, with all the research I have done he very very rarely complained unless it was his team mates.

  • see thats what a classy white basketball player does.. he got cheap shotted twice but instead of coming back down the court and starting a fight with another cheap shot. he just straight SHITS on the other team. swagg

  • @drewdogg1317 As many people might agree with this bro, lets leave race out of this, and I am an Italian-Irish American so if I can do it, I know you can too.

  • U don't mess with the Birdhan!

  • i respect bird but if i could play back then, ill be the greatest

  • @yungchieffer If you aint the greatest now you better be sure you wouldnt be the greatest then.

  • @yungchieffer The NBA was harder back then..... no soft pussy shit to help out the stars like it is in todays NBA

  • @WhatTehFcuk idgaf lol im breakin niggas ankles!

  • Of note, the play by play announcer here is Gil Santos, who is better known as the long time Voice of the New England Patriots

  • Larry Bird...man, too bad his back problems took him from the game as he had more seasons in him. I like how Bill Laimbeer (after being his usual punk self) gets totally destroyed by Bird for the rest of the game. They even switched defenders on him and Bird ate them up too.

  • overall players now days will kill larry bird..much more athletic

  • @jrrussell29 : Bird, the greatest non-athletic player of all time. Even with the current "athletes" of today's game, he would still shine and do some "schooling".

  • @jrrussell29 Just because players today looks more athletic doesn't mean they know how to defend. The league has gotten much softer on defense now as compare to the 80's and 90's era. As Bird has shown in this video, he didn't have to be the most athletic or strongest player on the court to win. All he needed was basketball fundamentals and dead accuracy.

  • bird wont keep up to today defense ..too much athleticism

  • @jrrussell29 Today's defense is much softer. Bird, Magic, MJ and all those other greats had to deal with the hand check. In today's soft game, any average joe can potentially score 40-50 in any given night.

  • that shows your stupidness

  • @DrmrGuy1979

Back when a little blood was no reason to leave a game either.

  • @DrmrGuy1979 that was supposed to be mad u fcking retard

  • @DrmrGuy1979 not really u dumbass. why Kobe? did you watch him against ron when ron made him made? he scored 30 points you fuck shit.

  • Ain't nothing like them ugly Celtic jerseys. They proved that jerseys of real champions don't need to be fancy.

  • He Fked them up. Laimbeer was a tough guy. Bird just ate him up like a Gingercake

  • That is old school playing.Don't get mad...get even.Larry Bird did'nt whine or even confront Lame-ber.He got up and just scored...scored...scored!

  • @agdolllover5757 where not talking about lamber where talking about larry bird.. moron

  • Look at what he did after getting up from the floor -- he just went back to the game, fighting for the win of the game. That's what differentiates great players from good.

  • @ricfl10137 white people made the nba

  • @DrmrGuy1979 well, not exactly lol. For an offensive foul, they'd be happy, get cocky, and try and make the other team feel bad by trying to make some big play. Now LARRY, he gets knocked around, and goes on playing his regular game lol

  • BossSloss is stupid,a player who handled the ball as much as Larry Bird did could never do all this if he couldn't dribble Larry Bird NBA MVP 1984, 1985, 1986

    Rookie of the Year1980 Finals MVP1984, 1986

    Larry Bird All-NBA 1st Team1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988

    All-NBA 2nd Team1990 All-Rookie 1st Team1980

    All-Defensive 2nd Team1982, 1983, 1984 All-Star MVP1982

BossSloss is either too young to have watched Larry Bird play much or just some prejudice ASSHOLE

  • Even though Michael Jordan was the best OFFENSIVE player and one of the best defensive players, LARRY BIRD was the best to ever DO IT

  • my bad i forgot there's one in the nba now. from germany.

  • During the 1986 season, when the list of all-stars had just been announced, Bird asked a group of Boston reporters if Laimbeer, who had been an all-star the previous 3 seasons, had been selected again. They informed him that Laimbeer had been left off the squad. Bird deadpanned, "Good, now I won't have to worry about him getting on the bus and saying, ' Hi Larry' and me having to say, ' Fuck you Bill' ".

  • What I noticed most is that LeBron traveled.

  • white people used to play in the nba?

  • @ricfl10137 yeah, remember that guy Dirk Nowitzki, not many can remember him now.

  • @ricfl10137

Steve Nash, Kevin Love, Mike Miller, Greg Anderson

  • @ricfl10137 white people made nba bk in the day.

  • Only difference between MJ & LB:

MJ could do it all and did so, but only by refusing his teammates

LB could do it all, but oftentimes refused himself FOR his teammates.

Yea, greatest player of all time lols. IF THE GAME WAS 1 ON 1!!!!! ;.

  • @ry3304 i dont see it that way bird has to pass more because he couldnt really dribble, mj was a pure scorer plus he didnt have to pass if he could put up 32 a nite

  • @BossSloss are you fucking stupid? bird was one of the best ball handlers in the league. you don't average 7 assists a game by being a shitty dribbler. MJ was maybe the greatest 1 on 1 player ever, but he doesn't compare to bird as a team player. there's a reason bird almost single handedly took the Cs from out of the playoffs to championship contenders by himself, but jordan's bulls couldn't beat him until he was well past his prime.

  • god i hate admitting this as a pistons fan but.......Larry Bird was amazing :(

  • @ThePistons4life I don't like saying Isaiah Thomas won games as a CELTICS fan but it is what it is.
