@bigfri5 lol call jeremy wade hell come from a plane and crash it right into the water. then hell go time to go for a swim while hes fighting the fish
Cool video! At the end I am a bit confused about the auto pilot on the trolling motor. Does it just keep the boat straight, or use some kind of depth finder in conjunction to keep along the bank? In either case it sounds pretty sweet.
@rchassereau The basic Auto Pilot uses a compass to hold you on whatever heading you set it for. For instance, if you point your bow at a water tower 10 miles away across a wind blown lake, you can take a nap and wake up at that water tower several hours later. If the boat gets blown left, the head will turn right, etc. wont go in circles, like a standard motor.
Go checkout c4fishingteam on YouTube. They fish the canals in Miami and have great quality videos weekly. Also check out their blog. It has a lot of useful information!
@anthonyfishallyear They run just as big in freshwater pretty much, there won't be as many large ones(50+lbs) just b/c of the shear number of fish in the ocean, 30's and 40's are common and the lake lanier GA record is 67lbs...if someone lives inland that'd be kindof hard to fish saltwater every weekend...they're the same fish species...Done both, just as fun either way for me.
do u think shad are in Nebraska? because i dont know if they are if they arnt what kind of bait should i use a bluegill. or should i go to the bait shop AND buy there biggest minnows and use them.
@jshark9888 if you can get Giant bass Minnows or shiners they will work OK. You can use Blue Gills, just be sure to catch them with rod and reel NOT a castnet. they are a gamefish, and netting them is illegal most everywhere i know of. There are probably Shad or herring though. ive used Herring as far North as New York in freshwateer.
@jshark9888 Blue gill is amazing bait... if you go inshore and use trout hooks with small pieces of worms, on a lake beach area you will catch amazing bass bait. I use 3 inch blue gill for huge bass.
I use everything from Trout to Eels, and everything in between. These fish were gorging on the dying Threadfins during the cold snap. If you only use one kind of bait everytime, your probably missing out.
looks like you got a realy nice set up for those stripers i couldd tell you knoow what your doin when i saw the reels your useing i love those accurate reels there just a lil bit heavy but nothin you cant handle thanks for the vid
You might find that putting your outside board furthest forwayd and with the rod tip progressively lower from front to back (front is high, 2nd is lower, 3rd is lowest, etc) will keep your spread more manageable, thats what we do for Lake MI Salmon and Trout and it works great!
Hello I am From Brasil,Don't know much about fishing here.
Same say the Stripers Like Grass Shrimp better as a bait.
Do you ever use them.
Can You spell the name of that one you are using in this video please.Do they work the same in any fresh water. I will stay for wile in California Close to the Delta River.Hoping to get some of those.
This is a very good instuctional video, and i learned alot, i just wish there were more videos like it on youtube. Question,i know how to use a cast net but i can never catch any shad, got any tips?
In the winter, you can mark them on the graph holding in tight schools, then cast-net them. In summer, you can find them "flipping" on the surface, sneak up and throw the net. Or put a green light out near bridges at night.-Mike
Great vids! Not many on stripers here on tube. Have any vids on catching the gizzard shad? Also what to do to make them live awhile? I heard you have to keep the temp cooler in the bucket with lots of aerator?
What kind of hooks should you use just to cast live shad up on to some rocks.. i was using some softbaits and saw some guy rollup and get like 4 lunkers just tossing up live shad on a single hook
When I pitch live Shad I will usually use a little bigger hook than when I'm pulling a full spread. The extra weight of the bigger hook aids during your cast, and the thicker shank doesn't rip through the bait's nostrils as easy.
When pitching a live bait you will most likely get a reaction strike, so the bigger hook wont spook most fish. I sometimes use a conventional reel for this, but a wide spool spinning reel with braid will cast a light bait like a dream. In this video we are using a 2/0 hook, but for pitching I will go as big 4/0 or even 5/0. Gizzard Shad are the best for casting as their noses are rock hard, and can surrvive a dozen or so casts before going limp.
Awesome thanks.. i tried goin out yesterday. but the only shads I was able to net were tiny so i ended up just going back to storm lures. Hopefully Ill get some better ones today
HEY DUDE. I REALLY LIKE THE SET UPS. BUT DID YOU EVER COUGHT ANY BIG STRIPERS WITH THOSE SETS. why DONT YOU JUST LET THE live BAIT DOWN IN THE WATHER WITH ONLY THE HOOK AND THATS ALL. OR just USE LURES.
Hey Mike, Thanks for the info, but what is the actual reel mode/size of the Accurate casting reel your using? It is the reel at the end when your taking about setting the drag system. That is the size reel i would like to use. My fishing style is very similar to yours and I too believe that having qaulity gear is important. Those bobbers are the best thing I've seen come up in a long time. I've had many success with them. Once again thanks for a great video.
Vince, The model in the video is the Boss 870N. The N is for narrow. The reel is originally designed for jigging, but, I love the narrow design. This design allows you to make fast retrieves without worrying about hand-levelwinding the line perfectly. It pretty much level-winds itself.
I also really like the 270 model. It is slightly wider, but lower profile. The 870 reg. is twice as wide as the Narrow (it's huge in comparison) Either way, I would recomend the slower of the two gear speeds. The high speed will kick your ass with bigger fish! Or, spend the extra 100 bucks, and get the 2 speed.- They are killer.
Mike, Awsome video!!! You got a amazing set up. What kinds of reels are you using, they are cool!!! Also, thats got to be the best live well i've ever seen, what kind is it and where can i get a livewell like your? Keep up fishing cause your doing a great job!!
Thanks for the comment. Those are the Accurate Boss Reels. They are in fact INSANE. They are $4-500. but every penny goes INTO that reel. If you just replace 1 or 2 reels a season with them, you wont regret it. The bearings in them are the same bearings used in sattelites in space! They never need service. Drags on both sides of the spool, the hardest internal grindable metals,(since Nothing is Cast, or Forged). Meat and Rock Hard Potatoes! You won't find any Brass here.
Sorry bout that, I replied while signed in with my wife's account. The tank is a Bait Caddy, I also think it is the best. Call Gregg at 918-270-2390. He can get you set up. They one in this video is 40 gallons, but I have a 50 also, for Bunker, and he now makes a 100 gal. I think his smallest is around 25. He does not have a web site though.
That's Kerr Lake on the Virginia, NC. border. We net bait right there at the lake. Right now, they are 25-30ft deep, so you have to mark it on sonar, and throw the net, once it get's warmer they will move right up to the bank, and "flip", making them easy to spot.
Yo Mike! Great Job! Keep posting those instructional videos. I know what you mean about the terds out there who like to be negative. SCREW THEM! You are a good guy and that is all that matters.
yea this is how i rigg the basterd snappers (babey blues) the best for doormat fluke and live penuts for everything bunker is the best bait but is there a way to attract to the jetty these basterd menden always stay just out of range from the net any ideas for attractants
