  • great "teleportation" as somewhat so funnily put it on one of the other videos of this race

  • what a great start, shorter guy should have a good start, but that was phenomenal.

  • johnsons first 40m were amazing in this race, even faster than in the seoul race

  • Sick of the ignorant demonisation of Johnson. Fact is he trained harder and everyone used chemicals(Christie and Lewis included) it all came down to their nationality and athletics association etc.

Johnson was a scapegoat. Lewis as great as he was had a massive ego and his drug useage got swept under the rug.

    Remember Butch Reynolds 400m also.

Johnson was hung out to dry.

    Ben was the best.

  • Very well put. The sport is full of hypocrites! Johnson was a superb athlete - only recently surpassed by Bolt.

  • @absolutebore rubbish, johnson was the only athlete stupid enough to push the limits with drugs. his downfall was the use of super androgenic substances...usually reserved for p[owerlifters. johnson was an also ran at his nationals and as a junior. the guy was all drugs.

  • This was actually the Dirtiest race ever! No one was clean.

  • actually that title goes to the 1988 Olympic Finals. Everyone expecting Ray Stewart of Jamaica, Calvin Smith and De Silva of Brazil all have been founded doping once in their career. Johnson, Lewis, Christie, Dennis Mitchell and Desai Williams all were caught doping in their careers.

  • @jrussell04 theres drugs and theres drugs. and theres cycles and cycles. the athletes who were using used fast acting, medium anabolic, low androgens and would come off long enough to test clean. ben took high anabolic, high androgens righ up to, and during, the day of events...a massive advantage.

  • @jrussell04 Ray Stewart is banned from athletics for life for doping offences. Even if he was not caught in 1987. He was coached by Usain Bolt's coach Glen Mills. All his notable athletes have been caught doping: Stewart, Dwain Chambers, Kim Collins, Yohan Blake etc.

  • the most impressive run this side of his 88 olympic bust.

  • chrisie lewis and jhonson were all juiced

  • Christie was clean, Lewis not sure, but I think Lewis is clean to.

  • great vid

    comment me back Wc

  • They reset it all, because Johnson was positive for drugs. Lewis got gold christie Silver, and a Yank got the Bronz medal.

  • Allan Wells was not in this race. He was in the 1983 World final, but not here. Lane 1 was Viktor Bryzgin (URS, at the time). He finished in 5th with 10.25

  • Kovacs was 5th and Bryzgin was 6th. Also Pavoni of Italy finished 8th after pulling up at the start.Must be the last time 3 white men lined up for a global 100m final.

  • I was referring to the finishing order w/o Johnson, but you are right about the global final. At absolute best I can see Yepishin (RUS) & Osovnikar (SLO) making a global final, but not 3 ;-)

  • I think Craig Pickering could be in with a shout to.

  • I am from the UK and forgot ! Duh ! Thanks. He could well be in there as you say

  • You never see any white guys in the 100 m finals anymore.

  • @BigAussieDave22 .....all of them later tested positive to steroids

  • Get your eyes tested! The great Allan Wells ran in lane one. He was carrying an injury in this race if I recall.

  • only one white man..Kovács Attila..eh is the fastest white man

  • like a bullet bammm

  • Rumor was he was clocked at a 3.6 40 during this start.

  • is that good?

  • will0505 are you serious?Do you think that Carl Lewis never took anything? You must be kidding.Everybody does, certainly. However, the speed of an athlete doesn't depend on the muscles, only.Have you heard about neurophysiology?

  • Ben was faster than a bullet, look at the start of the race, they never gonna catch him.Oh,marcdunord is absolutely right!

  • I think that must be a serious candidate for the best start out of the blocks in any 100m race ever.

  • ben had the best biomechanics of all time and the best neurophysiology. send schwarzenegger to run the 100m otherwise. they all are on drugs anyway so let's bow to ben's superior biomachine and stop the moronic sanctimoniousness.

  • Yep can confirm kytem 2 comment. What makes it worse lewis speaking out all his career against drugs, but took them anyway. Shame.

  • Look it up...

In 2003, Dr. Wade Exum, the United States Olympic Committee's director of drug control administration from 1991 to 2000, gave copies of documents to Sports Illustrated which revealed that some 100 American athletes who failed drug tests and should have been prevented from competing in the Olympics were nevertheless cleared to compete. Among those athletes was Carl Lewis.

  • ha, the cheatin paletrash still got no game

  • cheatin niggas

  • Nothing new to add here. You simply cannot be competitive in the sprints without drugs. They all do it.

  • Dennis Mitchell is not in this race. The americans are Carl Lewis a Lee McRae

  • Including Johnson, four of the top five finishers of the 100-meter race have all tested positive for banned drugs at one point or another. They are Carl Lewis, who was given the gold medal, along with Linford Christie who was moved up to the silver medal, and Dennis Mitchell. Of these, only Johnson was forced to give up his records and his medals

  • Oh really. Hmmmm, I never heard that Carl Lewis ever tested poitive for anything. Ben was all muscle & carl was a lean athlete. Carl never took anything.
