A bunch of these, in opinion, are just pictures taken at the correct second to make them look wrong. I'll bet you five seconds later, they were fine. But I don't like some of the stuff in the rodeos. I love rodeo. I'm a rodeo queen, a barrel racer, a reiner, dressage rider, jumper, pole bender, and ranch hand. I have never seen animals get abused. If ya'll say well, how would you like to have that done? Well, animals are so much stronger than humans. My horses get hurt more in the pasture and interacting with each other than any kind of riding I do with them.

I do agree that some animals are handled improperly, but some things get blown out of proportion. If you look at horses in the wild, they go through a lot worse things than at a rodeo. There are vets at a rodeo. There are good rodeos, and there are bad rodeos. Some follow the law. This will be continued

Not trying to be rude, but you should probably do a little more research besides what the shark channel tells you. Rodeos, in a way, are like reenactments of history in the old west. Think about it, calf roping is actually part of ranch working. You can look more into it if you don't believe me. Not every single rodeo kills/ hurts an animal. I've been to too many to think different.

Heard yet another common misconception about horse behaviour, from a rodeo lover. It is considered normal for a horse to gape his mouth. It means they are happy! Horses run with their mouths open all the time! Broncs ALWAYS have their mouths open when bucking (a clear sign of stress/fear/overwork). Some DVM's even say this., "If your horse is panting or open mouth breathing, you need to try to cool him down and contact your veterinarian immediately." Funny, huh?Funny Peculiar, not Funny hah-hah.

@happysun995 dont worry that happened to my horse and it had been 1 month or 2 before it actually got better - just keep an eye on it ... check with the vet and they should give u some advice!! :)
I see these things and choose to believe that the rodeo didn't start out to harm them. However you can se the animals for the most part are being hurt so for the greater good of the animals I think that we should shut it down.

A bucking bronc broke its leg and rolled and broke its neck, that wasnt the riders fault either or the horses. Some of the cowboys in rodeo have the upmost respect for the animals. they rope calves for a purpose, vet checks etc when out on the farm, so theyve made a competition for it, better than letting sick animals die, its the only way to catch em on big ranches. and i have a rodeo horse, he doesnt compete, but boy does he love his job in practice, he was a riding horse, then he had a much more fun idea, he is the best bucker i know, unrideable, and vet checks him sound, just crazy, he will compete locally. i know a horse trained in both rodeo and regular riding.

i went to see a wild horse race once and im NEVER going again the horses were ruined they were frightened and most of all they were abused on had cut its leg open from where the rope had got caught and tightened they didnt stop pulling and it was getting worse and in the end the horse gave up and collapsed its wrong !!!! they shouldnt do that to such a beautiful creature!!!!!! if they were born in the wild then they should be left there!!!if they werent sent tothe rodeo theyd be someones dream

Some of the rodeo animals enjoy what they do. We dont just go out and get them. They are bred for rodeo, stronger. Bulls are bred to buck harder, broncs are bred to buck and lunge faster. Rodeo will never go away. Only god himself can stop rodeo. So stop your bitching and whining like a little kid.

They started making haunch straps with padding so that won't happen, and I'm pretty sure most of those were accidents and the animals probably weren't used..

Cattle prods are long, tasers fit in the palm of your hand. Tasers are not lethal unless the person has severe heart or brain defects.Tasers are meant to fully incapacitate a person, and it does. They use neuromuscular incapacitation technology to do it, and I think you would agree being electrocuted would hurt, would it not?

How are you going to get a 1250 pound cow to put her head in the head gate so she can get vaccinated or get treated for any health problems? WIth hide that thick it doesnt hurt them to hit them with a whip, twist their tails, etc. I live on a farm with cows and many other animals. When a cow stops in the shoot and wont move, its hard to get them to move no matter what u do. So u need to use a whip etc.

@Horses4ever8 We have tried that. It doesnt work with our cows. We have high strung ranch cows that are stubborn buggers and wont go in to a shoot food or not. Our cows would chase u up a fence. We have bramas, and red angus cross.

Okay, I just want to say, Some things rodeo does are harsh and inhumane. BUT........ Not all rodeo ib bad. Like Breakaway roping..harmless... Barrels, poles, flag race, hitchhiking race, steer hide drag, so many things are harmless. Mutton busting, calf and steer riding, and bull riding really aren't that bad. You are a big big man picking on baby cows and other innocent, unwilling rodeo animals. Animals exist for their own sake, not simply for man's sake. What on earth do you get out of your activities? To start out, I don't pick on cow's. I'm a bronc rider. Second off, yes I have been to sharks video's, and I do not like them because the exaggerate to the point of lying. I've ridden broncs and let me say that I have the utmost respect for them. I have never seen any of the contractors i've delt with use prods, or tighten the flank strrap to tight. I could gurantee if horses could talk most of the ones in rodeo would say they are glad to be there.
How do you know they love to work? We humans have taken advantage of their good nature and domesticated them, however, given the opportunity they would very easily revert back to a wild state (of course their is no opportunity!) Go ahead and approach a wild horse and see what he would seem to prefer to do...go with you and be broke and "work" or stay in the herd and graze and wander around doing what horses NATURALLY do.

countrycowgirlable hey, no problem. Listen, I actually have 3 horses myself...they aren't ridden, just out to pasture basically. I have ridden in the past and I'm not really against riding. Of course it is completely impractical to return horses to the wild (the remaining wild horses have very little open range available to them as it is). I just have a problem with some of the rodeo events, where the animals are put in harms way.

I don't know what question u are talking about. And a differnce of opinion is one thing, but common sense is another. Any animal would choose freedom over (to use your word) human domination. Killer whales would choose the ocean over the aquarium, pigs would choose fresh air, sunlight and room to run around over a factory farm cement stall, horses would choose freedom from saddles & gelding! I know u believe this is simply my opinion but actually its common sense! Try to really THINK about it.
i have been around horses all of my life.. i had two horses of my own.. but riding any animal isn't 'natural'.. horses aren't born with saddles on their backs..
some horses do enjoy being ridden.. but lets face it.. if a horse doesn't do as it is told it comes up against whips and spurs.. if a horse is considered dangerous, or doesn't do the job it was bred to do.. for example: allow someone to ride it.. it is often sent to slaughter..

I love rodeo. I'm a rodeo queen, a barrel racer, a reiner, dressage rider, jumper, pole bender, and ranch hand. I have never seen animals get abused. If ya'll say well, how would you like to have that done? Well, animals are so much stronger than humans. My horses get hurt more in the pasture and interacting with each other than any kind of riding I do with them.

I do agree that some animals are handled improperly, but some things get blown out of proportion. If you look at horses in the wild, they go through a lot worse things than at a rodeo. There are vets at a rodeo. There are good rodeos, and there are bad rodeos. Some follow the law. This will be continued

Not trying to be rude, but you should probably do a little more research besides what the shark channel tells you. Rodeos, in a way, are like reenactments of history in the old west. Think about it, calf roping is actually part of ranch working. You can look more into it if you don't believe me. Not every single rodeo kills/ hurts an animal. I've been to too many to think different.

Heard yet another common misconception about horse behaviour, from a rodeo lover. It is considered normal for a horse to gape his mouth. It means they are happy! Horses run with their mouths open all the time! Broncs ALWAYS have their mouths open when bucking (a clear sign of stress/fear/overwork). Some DVM's even say this., "If your horse is panting or open mouth breathing, you need to try to cool him down and contact your veterinarian immediately." Funny, huh?Funny Peculiar, not Funny hah-hah.

they rope calves for a purpose, vet checks etc when out on the farm, so theyve made a competition for it, better than letting sick animals die, its the only way to catch em on big ranches. and i have a rodeo horse, he doesnt compete, but boy does he love his job in practice, he was a riding horse, then he had a much more fun idea, he is the best bucker i know, unrideable, and vet checks him sound, just crazy, he will compete locally. i know a horse trained in both rodeo and regular riding.

Where i live and where i go to rodeos. The animals are in the best of care. If they get hurt they are taken care of on the spot. If a cowboy/cowgirl etc is to rough on the animals then they are fined. The animals are well fed, the are at a healthy weight. They are vaccinated, they are treated for health problems. Not all rodeos are like this. These videos and pics just show the bad side of the rodeos. Not the rodeos where animals are actually taken care of.

Im a rodeo person. I barrel race and im training to team rope, and i have never witnessed any of this crap. Rodeo's aren't abuse. Get your facts straight. There are always vets on call, and always inspectors who reasearch through rodeo stock holding places, to make sure that the animals are happy and healthy. And if an animal goes down, the people dont beat it some more. They care for it.

i went to see a wild horse race once and im NEVER going again the horses were ruined they were frightened and most of all they were abused on had cut its leg open from where the rope had got caught and tightened they didnt stop pulling and it was getting worse and in the end the horse gave up and collapsed its wrong !!!! they shouldnt do that to such a beautiful creature!!!!!! if they were born in the wild then they should be left there!!!if they werent sent tothe rodeo theyd be someones dream

Yeah, those pictures are brutal but you don't know how long ago those were, those could have been a seriously long time ago... They started making haunch straps with padding so that won't happen, and I'm pretty sure most of those were accidents and the animals probably weren't used..

Cattle prods are long, tasers fit in the palm of your hand. Tasers are not lethal unless the person has severe heart or brain defects.Tasers are meant to fully incapacitate a person, and it does. They use neuromuscular incapacitation technology to do it, and I think you would agree being electrocuted would hurt, would it not?

How are you going to get a 1250 pound cow to put her head in the head gate so she can get vaccinated or get treated for any health problems? WIth hide that thick it doesnt hurt them to hit them with a whip, twist their tails, etc. I live on a farm with cows and many other animals. When a cow stops in the shoot and wont move, its hard to get them to move no matter what u do. So u need to use a whip etc.

It is not meant for that horse to break his leg!!!! I love my animals,, like they get a 110$ per of new shoes evey 3 weeks! Do you even get that for yourself? NO! They go to get check ups at the vet more in a year then I would ever think about going to the doctor,, US RODEO THUGS,, even spend 100+a week on supplements to give out horses to make them feel good and ready to perform. Okay, I just want to say, Some things rodeo does are harsh and inhumane. BUT........ Not all rodeo ib bad. Like Breakaway roping..harmless... Barrels, poles, flag race, hitchhiking race, steer hide drag, so many things are harmless. Mutton busting, calf and steer riding, and bull riding really aren't that bad. SHARK exagerates so english riders who have never been to a rodeo beleive them. They only point out the bad. Rodeo isn't that bad. It is american history.

To start out, I don't pick on cow's. I'm a bronc rider. Second off, yes I have been to sharks video's, and I do not like them because the exaggerate to the point of lying. I've ridden broncs and let me say that I have the utmost respect for them. I have never seen any of the contractors i've delt with use prods, or tighten the flank strrap to tight. I could gurantee if horses could talk most of the ones in rodeo would say they are glad to be there.

We humans have taken advantage of their good nature and domesticated them, however, given the opportunity they would very easily revert back to a wild state (of course their is no opportunity!) Go ahead and approach a wild horse and see what he would seem to prefer to do...go with you and be broke and "work" or stay in the herd and graze and wander around doing what horses NATURALLY do.

countrycowgirlable hey, no problem. Listen, I actually have 3 horses myself...they aren't ridden, just out to pasture basically. I have ridden in the past and I'm not really against riding. Of course it is completely impractical to return horses to the wild (the remaining wild horses have very little open range available to them as it is). I just have a problem with some of the rodeo events, where the animals are put in harms way.

I don't know what question u are talking about. And a differnce of opinion is one thing, but common sense is another. Any animal would choose freedom over (to use your word) human domination. Killer whales would choose the ocean over the aquarium, pigs would choose fresh air, sunlight and room to run around over a factory farm cement stall, horses would choose freedom from saddles & gelding! I know u believe this is simply my opinion but actually its common sense! Try to really THINK about it.

i have been around horses all of my life.. i had two horses of my own.. but riding any animal isn't 'natural'.. horses aren't born with saddles on their backs..
some horses do enjoy being ridden.. but lets face it.. if a horse doesn't do as it is told it comes up against whips and spurs.. if a horse is considered dangerous, or doesn't do the job it was bred to do.. for example: allow someone to ride it.. it is often sent to slaughter..
so what choice does a horse have about being ridden?..
