Chamran was a super-educated person. He had a PhD in plasma physics from US and was working as a senior scientist for Jet Propulsion Laboratory and NASA, before revolution. After revolution, he came to Iran to help and became a close friend of Khomeini. He was made defense minister of Iran and died in action during Iran-Iraq war. I personally think he was too valuable to go to war and instead he should have been made to do research for Iranian defense industry and space applications. May he RIP!
