Wow. I first heard this on Oldies 104 FM in the Washington DC area , in 1985, staying up all night to study for high school exams. At that time I thought it was the late John Belushie! By the way, the Memphis back up band was totally integrated; when Sam says, "Play it, Steve!", he is referring to Steve Crocker, a blue eyed soul brother that was the guitar player for Booker T and the MGs.
