  • Wow. I first heard this on Oldies 104 FM in the Washington DC area , in 1985, staying up all night to study for high school exams. At that time I thought it was the late John Belushie! Now in 2011, this is the first time I have actually seen a video clip of Sam and Dave. Notice how they artfully used the mirrors. By the way, Sam and Dave is t :) he most populat nightclub chain in Japan :) Greetings from Fukuoka

  • I just get shivers of joy all over when I hear this music :)

  • Play it Steve! One of the all time greats.

  • traveller fellow if it wasn't for the british invasion america would have forgotten about blues music.

  • traveller fellow steve cropper and donald dunn who played on this song and alot of other classics from stax records are white.

  • is this the original?

  • @fricken99 This is the original. Donald "Duck" Dunn is playing bass and Steve Cropper playing lead guitar...recall hearing Sam say "play it Steve"? in the song? He was referring to Steve Cropper.

  • sisisisisisiA(≧∀≦)Z

  • The blues brothers did it better. Sam & Dave are good, but they don't have belushi.

  • @X249J Blues Brothers" were white boys imitating Sam & Dave, the originals. like no talent white boys have been since the British Invasion. where every old black blues magician had their work ripped off. I think the Beatles began the process.

  • @TravellerFellow BING!

  • @HaddyD thanks man but just stating the obvious.

  • @TravellerFellow Dan and John were imitating, for sure, but they did it with respect, not to steal. The Blues Brothers movie reinvigorated several blues legends' stagnant careers, and brought some fabulous music to a new generation.

  • @bluesky6327 youre so right :D

  • @X249J you can never beat the original, sorry

  • @X249J Belushi was a great comic but surely you jest!

  • @willy14916 'That' is Dave, whose 'last-name' escapes me at this time! But, "I" assure you that I will think of it 'after-a while'!

  • @MisterCrash241 , Sam and Dave are Sam Moore and David Porter. These dudes are part of the Memphis sound of Stax Records. David did a lot of work with Isaac Hayes. By the way, the Memphis back up band was totally integrated; when Sam says, "Play it, Steve!", he is referring to Steve Crocker, a blue eyed soul brother that was the guitar player for Booker T and the MGs.

  • @4562deedee1 Dave's last name was Prater. David Porter was the name of Isaac Hayes' writing partner. Hayes and Porter wrote Soul Man, Hold, on I'm Coming and many other classics at Stax. Steve's last name was Cropper.

  • Whatever happened to music like this? Lady GaGa and company doesn't even come close to this quality... *sigh*

  • @HerrHokusPokus simon cowell is what happened to music....unfortunately.

  • The Blues Brothers were comedians playing the roles of soul men.

Sam and Dave were the genuine article.

    Not even a contest.

  • awesome

  • this is way better than the blues brothers.. the original soul men!!

  • love it

  • forget the blue brothers

  • This grooviest of bass lines is played by Donald "Duck" Dunn.

  • PURE SOUL.

This stuff would make dead people dance.

  • Everyone who thinks they have talent should be strapped down and forced to watch this.....then decide

    8/10/08

  • Isaac Hayes & David Porter were the songwriting team behind most of Sam & Dave's biggest hits. He was a staff songwriter for Stax records durings the 60's before he became a recording artist himself.

  • love this song!
