  • what happens to the cello solo 2:24 --> ???

    doesn't fit at all.

  • whatever their accent, is so lovely. And is not their original language , so it's hard. Is the same thing when you learning other language. They are amazing, I love them.

  • HAHA, they really made a amazing job. Sometimes, even for me (brazillian) is hard to understand 'cause they have a really strange (but nice) accent :)

  • Ay, cómo te quiero Lore.

  • I fell in love with Lisa's accent :')

  • Wow!!! Amazing! I'm Brazilian. Their accent made the song cuter!

  • I am Brazilian and I like this version... they have a sweet acccent but it sounds pretty good! Congratulations

  • Funny, it's portuguese, but seems like italian, french... sometimes I can't understand, but still great!! Portuguese is difficult...

  • Portuguese is such a hard language. it is kind of rare to find someone who tries to learn and speak ... nobody can say anything about their accent, they had a good initiative..

Do not compare them with Tom Jobim, it is not a inteligent thing to do.

    Their version is great.

  • Tight harmony with tight lyrical language. Celloist's virtuosity.

  • Tight harmony with tight lyrical language.

  • who is the female singer??

  • @mindwalker777

    Lisa Hannigan

  • Love her voice...but the pronounciation is soooo far from Portuguese...more like french! You don't do the "r" thing in portuguese like in french. Other than the pronounciation, everything is great from the acoustic to the bossa!!

  • @CURLSTHEDUCK it is Portuguese, but from Brazil which is slightly different.

  • @CURLSTHEDUCK in brazil R sounds more like french

  • Beautiful.......

  • Love Jobim's version the best but this is so sweet. Listen to Julie London version...amazing

  • There is something very innocent but yet very passionate about this duet. I've listened to the original version dozens of times, and without comparing the two, I feel that this rendition is quite good. There definitely is a chemistry between the two singers and the rendition evokes emotion from the (i.e., this) listener. Thank you for this special post!

  • Which album is this song from?

  • Don't like the cello - diverts from the lightness of the acoustic guitar - but is well-sung. One of my fav songs ever.

  • i like the unusual strings in the intermission. it really calls my atention in a bossa nova song i've been listening to all my life and is very dear to my heart. it's a really beautiful version. still, i find their accents a tiny bit funny (although completely understandable)

  • this is great, i just love bossa, is G R E A T

  • everybodys a critic.... this is an awesome song

  • Love iiiiiiit, check my cover if you want !!

  • this is such a cute version

  • I don't care wht ya say, two Irish to give Carlos Jobim so much PASSION,an do it better than Jao Gilberto?????????that's why i love the Irish, they have some unexplained energy, An Lisa ,lovely Maid, an of course Damien, are livin examples of that,

  • Poor pronunciation. But I appreciate their effort.

  • Sublim. Quina veu tant preciosa que té Lisa Hannigan.

  • horrible

  • Hope Tom Jobim knows how grateful we are tohim for his creation. The cello solo fits well into his music. It is such a beautiful piece of work that inspires all musicians with a heart. It is not out of tune. It is a subtle display of love.

  • kn tienes la letra en español??? the word in spanishh!!!

  • perfect picture.

  • nice cello solo wow

  • liiiiiiiiiiiiiindos !

  • they're singing this song with an accent from portugal instead of brazil but still it sounds really good i love this song

  • I love them, althought they're not brazilians, they're accent is really close. Just amazing *-*

  • Lindo!!

  • But you only can't talk like this about my love

It's the biggest you will ever find

You and your music forgot the substantial

That in the chest of a tuneless

Deep in the chest of a tuneless, beats silent

In the chest of a tuneless also beats a heart

  • If you say that I untune, my love Be aware that this is painful to me Only privileged people has a hearing like yours I only own the one God gaves me If you insist in classify My behavior as anti-musical I, although lying, has to argue That this is Bossa Nova This is very natural What you don't know And not even sense Is that the tuneless also has a heart I took your picture at my RollerFlex (?) And it revealed your enormous ingratitude
  • I've tried to translate to english, so people can understand, but it's not very good. Hope it gives you all an idea, at least.

  • @mdgetback1

if you don't like them, just don't listen it and shut up 'bout them.

  • kinda like you didn't like my critique and just stopped reading it and shut up about it? Kinda like that?

  • Bossa Nova, really really good

  • wow, absolutely fantastic, i'm so impressed by their take on this old Jobim jazz standard. It's rare you see musicians cross into the realms of jazz and do it so well. I love them even more know.

  • i wish i knew what this meant in English , however i'll just interpret it with my own meaning :L

    its still amasing

  • Can't understand a word but still love it

  • @crazychick8622

Slightly Out of Tune ( Desafinado )

Love is like a never ending melody,

Poets have compared it to a symphony,

A symphony conducted by the lighting of the moon,

But our song of love is slightly out of tune . . . .

Once your kisses raised me to a fever pitch,

Now the orchestration doesnt seem so rich,

Seems to me youve changed the tune we used to sing,

Like the bossa nova love should swing . . . . cont..

  • @socialtalker1 this lyric is just an american version. The true song don't say any of this

  • @socialtalker1

    thanks for the translation....simply lovely!!!!

  • @crazychick8622 cont.

Cause you forgot the melody our hearts would always croon,

What goods a heart thats slightly out of tune?

Tune your heart with mine the way it used to be,

Join with me in harmony and sing a song of love,

Were bound to get in tune again before too long,

Therell be no Desafinado when your heart belongs to me completely

Then you wont be slightly out of tune, youll sing along with me!

  • wow!!! very very good!!!=)

  • i like this version, but jobims the best ever!

this song in the live unreleased singles cd, finshes with a dialogue: "what's the difference between love & attraction?..." does anyone know if it belongs to a movie or somethin?

  • Look at the cartoon at the end of the video :D and then possibly to the "More Info"

  • @mrsmustard88 i always thought it was taken from an interview (coz it finishes with that dialogue).

but it seems it's from the movie "goldfish memory".

  • the best DESAFINADO I have ever heard...

  • Totally True

  • i'm lucky to be born in Brazil....

    1º because of this culture

2º because portuguese is hard to learn

  • SO SMOOTH

  • Damien Rice + Lisa + bossa nova = perfection.

  • You're got to be mean to say they don't have such an amazing portuguese......its nor easy....

  • That's true. Portuguese is one the hardest languages to learn and they do have a very good accent for this song. Very good.

  • maravilhoso!

    wonderfulll!!!

  • Lindo!!!

  • They have such a cute and funny accent! They sound like little kids learning to speak! "Que no peto dos desfinados no fundo do peto tambem bate um coraçon.."

  • yeah they acctually doesnt speak portuguese , just the song!!

    perfect one!

  • he sure isn't good speaking portuguese! but he's a brilliant singuer and guitar or piano player.. and Lisa is a brilliant mix of beauty and professionalism. very good *

  • can't...stop...listening

  • the blower's daughter. HAHA

  • she speaks other languages?...

    shes so perfectly brilliant.
