  • Excellent. Just proves that some politicians think with their brains and not with their pockets or political aspirations. Perhaps one day somebody can instal such a device in Tomares, Spain...!

  • Cool device!

  • Im norwegian and this is just silly, Who the hell would pay to use 10 minutes up a hill you can just bike on for 30 seconds?

  • @QuInT142 Free of charge..

  • @tord0 nej, ni har inte uppfunnit "binderserna", bara halva den. sen var det någon från usa som jobbade mer på den, så den blev användbar.

the paper clip is just a myth anyway... get your facts straigt before commenting

  • @DopeMcDoperson

We are well known for inventing much more than 5 things, if you ever care for looking for it.

  • lol thats silly, i would rather just ride up the hill normally

  • @UncagedDreamer

that climb is steeper than it looks, and when you have to travel that distance 3-4 times a day, you would be happy it is there.

Or do you say that when entering a 30 floor building too...can always use stairs, but why?

  • Faen, den er tung å sykle opp selv om jeg har gjort det hverdag i to år!

  • i am from norway!

  • @rad22on Care?

  • Don't they have gears in Norway?

  • @charliewecker That hill is much steeper than it looks on video...

  • @tannalv Thats what she said?

  • @charliewecker How?

  • @tannalv Haha Oh sorry I meant to reply to lassi5600's comment

"In Norway we don't call this steep, we call it flat"

  • Trampe : ) < 3

  • What a nice idea bring it to Peru

  • lmao, it looks like ya gotta pay. i wonder how much

  • @jw16e4 Doesnt say you have to pay anything.

  • @KivNepse

he stuck money into the machine. besides, everything costs money in norway.

  • @jw16e4 u need a card too ride it.

  • @jw16e4

    100 NOK = 12 EUR/10 GBP/ 17 USD year

  • need this in san francisco

  • In Norway we don't call this steep, we call it flat

  • @lassi5600

haha really this is flat ahh

  • why does this video have 400 000 views again?

  • @AtraxTrh hmmm, maybe beacuse ur...Nahhh Nevermind

  • oh i love norway -w-

  • how lazy is that ?

  • yay i don't need ti pedal 1/32 part of the hills om my way home :P

  • Haha, i have done this like 10 000 times ,i used to stand with only my feet on it. when i was probarly 10-13 years old. im 16 now :) This is on Bakklandet in trondheim , (norway)

  • HEEELEEEEEENEEEEEEE XO!!!!!

  • Gah... people are dumb.. This was meant to be a tourist attraction and to get more people to use bicycle instead of a car.

  • i cant see my stupid american country doing something like this.

  • @Snigglesnock, the only reason why america isn´t doing this, is, because america is to busy choking on drpepper!

  • thats the town i live in. hahaha, everyone is amazed by that stupid thing D:

  • Nice, but still you egt tired from balancing/holding your foot liek that?

  • Lazy ass norwegians!

  • @sumoivar hey hey I am an norwegian and I didnt even know that we had that thing in our country! when I first sow it here on youtube I was going whaaat?? do we even need that 0o hmmpf... sometimes I think we are paying too mutch in taxes.

  • @TheJMdubb hey hey. I didn't even know norway was a country until resently. I always thought it was like a state in Sweden or something :p

  • recently*

  • @TheJMdubb : This was a student project in 1992-1993 at the tech university in Trondheim. Just to see if it would work. Not much tax money were used. For practical purposes its way to short, but it's a nice implementation. For Trondheim insiders: It would have been better to have a longer one in..say Steinberget on Byåsen.

  • every damn tourist goes and watches on this lift, but its not that fantastick, i'm fron trondheim and tried it ur just gonna fall of XD

  • @737x400

U gonna fall, the rest of us gets to the top...

It's not that fantastic, mostly because it's the first in he world, and it's a cute , simple and cheap invention... why can dislike that? :P

  • I have never seen anyone use that thin, in my fifteen years of living in Trondheim. I don't think it's working anymore... a lot of tourist's use to just stand around it and look at it and take silly pictures of them selfs around it.. hah.

  • by watching this video, suddently everyone thinks that all we norwegians do is going up that one hill with a bicyckle lift

  • this belongs in america, not norway

  • @Karineee9 its norway who maked it first !

  • @DopeMcDoperson Yeah let real countries take care of things like world peace and technological innovation. In the meantime, the freeloading countries can feel all self righteous.

  • this hill isnt even that bad. bike up it you lazy fucks.

  • @Mauko24 Have you actually been there? I doesnt look steep in the video, but it really is.

  • @Mauko24

it's steeper than it looks, and it's very nice to have after a long day at work, and we probably have to use it 3-4 times a day... but don't u worry, the hill doesn't stop there. what you see is just the steepest part

  • Cool, in a small city you don't need a car...

  • That hill isn't even that steep. They're just lazy.

  • Wow, lazy Norwegians :-)

  • dang how retarted! xD jk

  • Its a dumb invention O.o I dont understand why tourist come all the way to thic cold country only to ride that lift! D er bare dritt :P

  • @WowPana they come to see the nature, not this thing !

  • Okay, I never want to hear another European call us Americans lazy again. We ride our bikes up our hills.

  • @SupositoryRepository And that's about it.

  • @SupositoryRepository And that's about it-

  • @SupositoryRepository no, you sit at mcdonalds

  • @SupositoryRepository

sure you do, but you have to stop for a burger-break every 10 meters of it :)

  • @hobbiz I lift weights 5 days a week. I'm probably in twice as good of shape as you, silly viking! Bah!

  • @SupositoryRepository

and how would you know anything about that?

  • @hobbiz You don't pedal your bikes up hills, I know that much. I also know there is really nice granite stone that comes from a quarry in Jessheim. Norway, the land of granite quarries, mined by workers who are fat because they don't pedal their bicycles.

    When is lutefisk break?

  • @SupositoryRepository

and how would you know that? besides trying that thing a couple of times in -93 when it opened, i never use that thing, it's a damn tourist attraction.

When you compare number of citizens, who have won most olympics by america or Norway?

and by the same comparison, who have most mcdonalds? :) average BMI? do i need to continue?

  • this invention kept me quiet for a second if I was there I'd probably walk I think its way faster for me I wouldn't take a risk to fall off the track lol

  • if u stand on the rail, wil yer foot get cut off?

also, i hope that machine runs on cash just to annoy people

  • Walked up that hill yesterday. It's so hard!!

  • Couldn't we adapt this technology somehow to help drunk people get upstairs to bed?

  • But it goes so slow. Couldn't you just walk it up the hill if you don't want to ride up?

  • fear of exercise fail

  • @Fucksvensker oh yeah vi e lat ;P

  • Wow. That is just plain lazy.

    I LIKE IT! :)

  • The worst invention in the history of humanity. Period.

  • @shitamerica1 No that would be mcdonalds. Or hip hop.

  • ROFL WTF! late trøndere.

  • come to tronheim and try , im 98% sure that you dont makeit

  • I think cyclist should ride there bicycle...

  • It is not the man, who makes the mountain. It is the mountain, who makes the man!!!

  • It is not the man, who makes the mountain. It is the mountain, who makes the man!!!!

  • it looks so pathetic :P

  • what is that

  • be a man and bike up agaisnt the SMALL HILL?

ur an idiot .. the hill isnt small, its big, and i bet you couldn't cycle/run up that hill w/o taking breaks atleast 2 times.

  • hahahaha, thats what we in norway use our takses too xD

  • your fixed gear isn't so cool now, eh?

  • It's around 12%, which is steep even for a fit cyclist. Obviously it's not built for Tour de France wannabes.

  • @ave2timeslip

actually the hill is about 20% :)

  • Of course it is possible to pedal up the hill, but it really is much steeper than it looks on the video.

  • If you give all you got up that hill, you are faster than those who take the lift XD

  • That's pathetic :P

Be a man and bike up against the small hill, this is like normal for us Dutch.

  • It this hill would be in the Netherlands, it would be the highest point of your country :P

  • @bogdantudoryt Haha. :D

  • @bogdantudoryt lol no kidding

  • @bogdantudoryt hehe good one

  • i think it was made to the old not the lazy peoples

  • and everyone calls americans fat? jesus christ i could pedal that hill on a mountain bke its steep but not that steep.. i live near san fransisco which is steep like this.. lazy is right

  • I'm sure anyone in reasonable shape _could_ pedal up the hill; the problem is, if pedaling up would make them sweaty or smelly, they would likely choose to drive instead (which for the record is lazier than using this).

  • It's the oil that makes us soft :(

  • This is brillant.

  • hahaha i remember seeing this!

  • lol i live on that hill and every summer this is the main tourist attraction hehe

  • @mjelves oh you live on that hill, u are homeless.. poor guy

  • @mjelves hehe :-)

  • lazy :P

  • I can climb faster than that...no thanks

  • However, as that hill has a tarmac (good Scottish invention by the way!) surface and therefore is very grippy, I reckon that I could cycle up it. Just for the record, seeing as you're both talking about English use, it may be of interest to learn that the word blond, in English, is one of the very rare words where we change it depending in sex. As you're referring to girls with blond hair, you would say "Go get some blonde chicks".

  • hahaahahaahahahahha

  • This is amazing. I cant believe it was made in 1993 and Ive not heard about it anywhere else. As far as the argument from the two of you below, its very comical. The "banter" between you makes me laugh, cant believe you offered a cookie to him if he can cycle up that! hahaha Ive made loads of mountain bike videos with my friends in the mountains in Scotland, and its soooo true that on the screen the steepness of the hill appears to be less. continued above

  • This is a fine idea. Read the sign, it says the goal is to get more people on bikes. If one had bad knees, or whatever, but could ride the other areas, this is great!!!

  • OMG.. norway best country..

  • Fett!

  • BRILLIANT!!!! This is JUST what we need in San Francisco, Ca!! haha :)

  • Comment removed

  • LOL.

If they are riding bicycles, they should "go for a lift" by them selves.

    Hahaha, that's nuts.

  • It's convenient, so why not? It would take a long time to climb that hill with a bicycle. Maybe you just don't see how steep it is?

What exactly do you mean by "go for a lift"? That makes no sense in English.

  • If you are riding a bike, you obviously are exercising then you should climb the hill riding the bicycle. It's like going to the gym and have a machine there lifting the weights for you.

  • Not really, ElvisCamillo. Plenty of people in Norway bicycle to work, the exercise is just a *fringe* benefit. Secondly that is a very steep hill.

Some people bring their young children home with them on the back of the bicycle (in a seat). Or bring their shopping with them. And older people find that steep hill challenging.

You should try seeing it from other people's point of view, and don't forget that bicycles are not primarily used for exercise but transport. Maybe it's different in Brazil?

  • Yeah, it can be. Here we don't often use bicycles for going to the malls or stuff. We use it for fun, in the most of the cases.
