  • i think u guys coulda just used the ladder that was on the tree lol

  • couldnt u just bring him a ladder?

  • K.I.S.S.

  • They have a really complicated solution

  • U guys think that they r using to much equipment but all Thayer really use is some pulleys an ascender webbing and rope

  • Thanks for a well done video! I've learned a lot from both the methods and the equipment you employed to carry out this rescue.

  • One thing is most rural Fire and EMS units can not afford the 12K to buy this much specialized gear. Why not show a simpler setup for the budget minded people of the world?

  • so um.. why couldn't they just bring a ladder?

  • cool video. one problem I saw was that you used the Big Shot slingshot backwards. The throw ball and line should not be on the side of the user - turn the sling 180 degrees and keep the line in front of you...

  • The equipment, procedures and execution are all necessary for a professional rescue. First responders do all they can to maximize safety for themselves and the victim. If the rescuer fell out of the tree then there would now be two patients. Everything is done as quickly but as well planned as possible. As for the bad med procedures at the end, this video was not a real incident, just an informational clip. Do you really think there just happened to be a camera set up waiting for him to fall??

  • THE FIRST THING MY 15 YEAR GIRL NOTICED WAS THAT HE HAD THE GUN ON HIS BACK ON THE WAY UP THE TREE !!!! USE A FULL BODY HARNESS .

  • I am certified in high rescue and thats how we were trained, make note, always use an ansi, osha, msha aproved fall protection Exofit is defently worth the money, also if you ever hang in a harness for more than 20min after being rescued do not undo the leggings, First sit on the ground tilting forward with knees slightly bent loosen straps do not move for 20 min slowly let the blood flow to your legs. Loosening leggings right after rescue will result in death

  • Well, don't all hunters carry knives? Cut your way out...

  • Well, don't all hunters carry knives?

  • Hello,,, What video ? The screen is black

  • Being in decent physical condition can make the difference between life and death, or between hanging and being able to free yourself.

  • thAts what you get for trying to kill babmi lol

  • this was actually a pretty good segment

  • Just a sec.....lol

  • Looks like a Petzl commercial showing every piece of gear they make... Why don't you just set up a sling with a carabiner above the climber tie a munter hitch to lower the guy to the ground, then cut the strap that he is hanging by... you would have him on the ground in a few minutes instead of half an hour.

  • @Lake444 thats what i was thinking

  • how embarrassing for that guy

  • Tere is a much better option................... and alot quicker solution (how long would take all those guys, with all that equipment, to get to you in the woods............ not a realistic solution....................... here's one that is and it's only $200................... bet the bill from a professional response team would be alot more than that......

  • Oops.............. here is the correct web site address. (don't think a boat is going to do you much good either).

  • "A person with H.I.P can die in MINUTES." So...to save his life, we must spend 3 hours hooking up rope gadgetry so that we can avoid the sketchy webbing ladder (that is already in place.)

  • they must have every piece of equipment known to man hook up .i hope they wher trying to show off the stuff .

  • to many gadgets

  • Ok A. He could have just lifted himself onto one of the nearby limbs. B. the amount of time they took to preform a simple rescue. By the time they get all their stuff hooked he would have been dead from suspension trama because they did not tell him anything to do while he was hanging to prevent it. Such as bringing your knees up to your chest and back down or at least moving your legs.

  • yeh those two guys hauling him off to his truck to get him 'checked out' wasnt weird at all

  • Wecuttrees – The two main difference: the safety margins and the need to raise them off the system before a lower. We used a 10:1 safety margin with life safety loads on this video and that is not necessary with a log. If we just connected them to our system and then cut theirs away, the patient could have gone into shock because of the jarring. We were planning on showing other ways of raising and lowering like using a vector force as well as other techniques but ran out of time on this one.

  • The rope system was the fastest way to safely reach the patient (If he had used the ladder the rescuer would have needed to free climb 20ft to get above the patient and we want to show how to be connected the whole time), raise them off their system and lower them to the ground in a remote area, without jarring the patient which can lead to shock with HIP.

  • Highcountrytimber - Great observation with the need to stabilize the patient. The Method of Injury is always a factor in deciding the level of care. HIP introduces even more considerations, on which we chose to focus. Strapping the patient to a Sked or litter was ruled out by our EMS consultant because of the possibility of going horizontal. After being suspended in a harness lying down can cause the toxic build up in the lower extremities to flood the heart and cause cardiac arrest.

  • What is with the failure to stabilize the viticm from more injuries? Why was the victim not packaged in Sked or litter? The victim could have had pelvic or other internal injuries and by letting him walk out he could possibly die from non visble internal injuries. Why waste valuable time rigging a rope to climb when there is a faster choice?

  • great video greetings from north italy ciau francesco

  • It blows my mind that people can die by being stuck in a tree.

  • To all the people who say it is over rigged, my responce is this is a life rescue not a bit of timber, overall the video showed one of many safe and correct techniques to get a good outcome, everyone new the plan of attack, they knew about the gear and most importantly some one was in control of the overall scene.

If only the shooter had some basic rigging gear then he could of self rescued.

  • uh turn around grab the tree and climb up the branches into your harness dumbass...

  • nice video

  • check out the new rescue one controlled descent system full body safety harness! it allows you tto quickly lower yourself down to the ground once you fall!!

  • As a member of a SAR team, I believe this was a well executed rescue. They did everything right. This is an example of how its supposed to be done by competent professionals.

  • i agree with wecuttrees

  • when you have money..its easy job...:D

  • dude,

    talk about "over rigging".....

  • @wecuttrees Not really, it was all needed and makes the whole job easier

  • @harryshutler

well, when you climb trees every day for 13 years, lowering 100 to 1000 pound pieces, I would think that it was over rigged.

  • what do u do if someone falls out of a treestand and is hanging? call 911,and get a ladder?

  • puffffff y todo eso para ese rescate tan simple???

demasiados actefactos y mosquetones que abrir y cerrar... esto es lo que muchas veces falla, que no se simplifica y se tiende a complicar mas las cosas de lo que es
