  • I was disappointed that the simulation wasnt run long enough to evolve literal catapults. It would eventually be the best design. A simple huge block counterweight on one end with a long slim arm on the other end. Prop the catapult up on another big block or hinge it between 2 blocks even better.

Eventually I think the computer would come up with that given the parameter of throw the block the farthest. These looked like very early and random versions

  • @rustyscrapper : I get similar feedbacks almost every time. Those catapults were indeed evolved for a short number of generations -- only 100 in this work. That would be interesting to see after, say 100k. It would take about 2 to 6 months to run 100k generations. Usually the rate of innovation slows down to a seemingly complete stall after a few tens of generations, because I think the environment is too simple. To test your hypothesis, a human could design one and compete it against ours.

  • I'd like to see this where the subject is forced in to symmetry.

  • Yay nice, btw where can i get this program?

    What is it called?

  • Could I get a copy too!? :D
