  • Now that was class.

  • @TheMrtimmy28 wow, here we go...

  • Dammit I thought the "oh oh" girls would be hot lol

  • @StinkyPoop1000 i saw the buggles live in 79 and at this concert in 2004 and the oh oh girls were the the same 2 women . so dont worry about them being hot just enjoy their voices i doubt you could find better back up singers with thier range and longevity anywhere in the history of music , so i guess your user name reflects your knowledge and personality quite precisely, in the future keep your stupid attempts at humor to yourself please, dummy

  • Something about this song on a vinyl record is just awesome.

  • Just heard on radio SHAZAM not work so this video help.

  • great video, great show. Thumbs up..... Kim :)

  • 1:57 "Bitches came and broke your heart" You can hear it too, right?

  • i love this guy

  • Thumbs up if you know this song from GTA Vice City!

  • 5 idiots were clearly born yesterday...

  • Video didnt kill the radio star...Chuck Norris did!

  • the buggles keyboard player and lead singer played with and toured as YES in the late 70's.. jon anderson was out for that one

  • the buggles keyboard player and lead singer played with and toured as YES in the late 70's.. jon anderson was out for that one

  • Comment removed

  • Very very nice....the sound is reminiscient of Yes ...I love those big sound systems..and this song is a great reference for live playing/live sound. Woould love to have been there :)

  • You are right, this is a masterful live performance! It is refreshing to see an artist care about how they perform live and make the effort to do it as well (or better) than when they recorded a song in the studio.

  • GTA VICE CITY DUDE :D

  • I am so fucking sure nobody knows that Hans Zimmer is playing on piano

  • the dog bo***cks

  • more like vivo killed the radio star

  • find deinen namen gut ;)

  • even ageing dosent hurt there voices

  • Internet kills TV

  • awesome live performence!

  • awesome live performe!

  • The singer looks like he's 80 and he sounds exactly the same that is amazing

  • @TheTyrex31 Eighty?Shut up you pup!He looks like he's in his forties.

  • 25 Years later. And they NAILED it.

  • so cool

  • in instrumental at the end was better then how most new people try to sing.. buggles is just to beast

  • The performance on this video is just about amazing – as several others have mentioned, Because of this YouTube entry, I actually bought the DVD. When playing the extras for the disc, I discovered two interesting things. The first is that the audio track was post produced by Trevor Horn and another guy (not unusual). The second and most ‘disturbing’ thing, was the documentary. You can hear audio from the concert, and (especially) the vocal performances was way off what is presented here…

  • @runningraidfive you are right, this is a live concert with studio sound ;-)

  • @handballfan01 But after playing trough this disc a couple of times i have found ut that i don't care - just love it! :-)

  • @handballfan01 But somebody has Upload this Video but whit the Original Sound???

  • mtv is dead

  • so cool to see! :D

  • This band is a radio star!

    ;)

  • The ending of this song is beautiful. They have improved with age.

  • this song better now than it did when ity first came out (if that is possible)

  • Awesome performance, I can barely belive this. Great post.

  • This song was done so long ago, and it's still a treat to listen to it. Anyone know if these guys are still active, and recording music?

  • Nice to see Tom Hanks making an appearence to

  • Ya están para la tumba!!!

  • Those glasses would make anyone else look mental in the face but not him!

  • omg, It almost seems like classic piece of music at the end, with the piano. Goosebumps.

  • This performance is so epic, Princess Leia makes an appearance at 1:46 !

  • I watch this at least once a month when I need mood enhancement. Brilliant performance of what I once thought of as a Trivial Pursuit answer song...

  • Only one thing would make this better. If Linda Jardin turned toward Debi Doss during Debi's solo, and put her hands out, like "Ladies and Gentlemen, Debi!" That would "make up" for Linda (who played "Video" in the original vid) dissing Debi (who played "Radio.")

  • The Buggles had another song that was really good that they had done at that show, it used to be on youtube, however, i cannot locate it anymore! LMK Folks!

  • @0pticalMagic You refer to 'The plastic age'. Should be very easy to find if there ain't some 'this video is not available in your country'-trick in it.

  • @0pticalMagic Look at my other videos, its "Living in a plastic age" !

  • @0pticalMagic It was called Elstree

  • @ultan2702 on that show they performed 2 songs,Video killed ...and Plastic Age....not Elstree

  • Talk about take you back over 30 years in an instant!

    Amazing live performance - Brilliant!!!!

  • Yes, "VTR" was the term used back then, at the dawn of what was to become the VCR age.

  • <3 AWESOME!

  • perfect

  • Pretty sure it used to be "Put the blame on TVR" not "VCR"

  • @Pingstery vtr

  • @RoseResserection Haha, yeah, typo ;P

  • @Pingstery Yeap; it was "VTR" (Video Tape Recorder) on the original version.

  • @Pingstery Actually it was VTR

  • Brilliant. Bravo. Very well done.

  • I wish i had Trevor Horns ear. Just been listening to seals first album. Just so well put together. Respect !

  • Still great voices even after 30 years.

  • Just plain awesome <3

  • Briliant! Just shows what proffesionals can do. Take note young uns

  • Thats about the best sounding back up singers you will hear live.

  • Perfect Song, and well singing (he sings live !!!!!!!)

  • Anybody know where I purchase the mp3 for this particular rendition (Prince's Trust 2004)? Thanks.

  • old one was much better stupid technologie.....joking technologie rocks!!!

  • 30 years on and this is still a clasice when they performed it was 25 years on and they still nailed it true performers

  • wow, awesome performance! this is MUSIC...dang, and with today's technology.."autotune killed the music"...

  • even if they are old they are still good

  • Oh-oh-oh-oh-oooh-oh-oh-oh-oooh-oh-oh-oh, better than Bad Romance.

    Oh-oh-oh-oh-oooh-oh-oh-oh-oooh-oh-oh-oh, better than Bad Romance.

  • The girl standing furthest away from the camera is SOOOOOO beautiful :-)

    WHO IS SHE ???

  • Yes!!! The backup singer!!! Stunning

  • in gta this is best song

  • @trickymaster2 True Story :P

  • What a sensational performance. I'm stunned at the incredible talent on that stage. Brilliant.

  • Bravo Trevor. Great stuff.. One of the best bas lines ever IMHO

  • Oh my god!!! this is how the things rich the perfection on a stage, just wonderful... thanks for share, all this show was an unforgettable... look for more of it

  • @victorvaldeschile rich = reach

  • このビデオを初めて見たのはANAの機内放送でした(ベストヒットUSA タイムマシーンスペシャル)。久しぶりにこの曲を聞きましたが、いい曲(特に詞)だと再認識しました。

First opportunity of watching this video was in-flight video services of ANA (Japanese airline, "The Best Hit U.S.A. (?), Time Machine Special"). After long time, I listened this song and I acknowledged the goodness of this tune again (especially, the lyrics).

  • My 5 year old and I belt this song out full blast in my car. Real loud. When she sings the "oh-a oha" part, it makes me gush.

  • *sniffle* vice city, flash FM.. SO MANY MEMORIES!!!!

  • The first time I heard this song was on radio Monte Carlo in the Middle East in the early 80's. Certainly brings back great memories. The quality of the video is only surpassed by the awesome performance. After all these years, they continue sound amazing! Thank you for this great post.

  • too good for words this song not eve robbie williams can murder this song , best song ever dont know but it up there

  • awesome tunage XD

  • Is this available in the States? Great show.

  • amazing! 1st heard it in GTA and they still do it best vocally. best part is @ 3:28

  • amazing! 1st heard it in GTA and they still do it best vocally. best part is @ 3:28

  • @spyromatt yeah shes the original singer from the 80s

  • A classical masterpiece of the modern music, they mark the very beginning of the new age... the world is different since this ... new generations should refer to this masterpiece as the song hymn to the modernity and the new age

  • trevor horns best . . . . .awesome pop song

  • I remeber watching this on MTV for the first time in 1979. When MTV WAS MTV and not all this B.S tv show drama.

  • WOW!! They sound exactly the same!!

  • This is just SUPERB. Wish I'd been there

  • 3:26 Wow! Was not expexting that out of her. Still sounds just as good as it did in 79!

  • Agreed.....that was sweet!

  • I remember seeing this when MTV first started in 1981. Awesome song then and still awesome now! Says a lot that a group is still great after all these years.

  • I actually stood up and clapped at the end of this video!!

  • the first woman who appear maybe is the same of the original video, but now look like my history or chemical teacher

  • I bet she is the one who was in the band ever since they started the band in th 70's

  • The bit at the start really hurt my ears!

  • girl at left at 2:03 = hawt, just saying

  • Listen to her voice... soo many years and still she has this talent...

  • Yes! I often hate live performances, especially of the classic because they usually get butchered, but this just drips class and talent! Well done!

  • when i first herd this song it was awesome i heard in my game, gta Vice city for the PS2, very awesome

  • @Videokid06 haha me too! hey i made a parody for this song haha. MP3 Killed the Media Star. xD

  • The single solo backup singer...She's great :)

  • She's been in the band ever since they started the band.

  • Compare this to todays rubbish....no comparison !! Just goes to show us how our standard of music has gone......more please !!

  • One of the best songs ever....IMHO

  • im in love with this song

  • "And now we meet in an abandoned studio...we hear the playback and it seems so long ago" This must be the ultimate nostalgia trip for us children of the 70s.

  • This is in the same vein, isn't it?

"They took the credit for your 2nd symphony, rewritten by machine with new technology, and now I understand the problems you could see"

And from the song "Elstree": "There's no technology to fake up a song, they stop the orchestra if you get it wrong".

Makes me just a little wistful, I don't know why.

    Those were the days ...

  • awesome song

  • Bloody awesome, better than the old recorded version,

  • thats how you perfomance a LIVE act the oldskool have to show the new kids how to do it ?!!?! hahahah nice song hahahaha

  • @johannus48 agree. This is oldschool but hasn't diminished unlike many of the new "talents" that have appeared over the recent years.

  • When I found this some months ago I was floored it was so good. With Geoff Downs, Trevor Horn and the 2 original back up singers, they haven`t performed this together in over 20 years yet it sounds like they just released it a month ago. This is one of those rare live performances that`s rated as good as it gets. Outstanding performance. Absolutely A-1.

  • @DoubleVisionandco Hahaha. Your comment is exactly what I was thinking!!!

  • amazing! his voice obviously is a little more old but is the same voice of the song :D I loved this song!

A really good performance of pop music he really is inventor of pop :D

  • he is right

  • Holly shit i tought trevor lost his voice but thank god i'm wrong i close my eyes and it's the same voice, exactly the same, thank god he produced robbie in RKVS a great job by them

  • I think his voice is DYNAMITE. I was floored by the performance and im not even a fan.

  • this is just so amazing, especially live, so hard to do live and nail it!

  • Great song, has a lot of classical elements. Also you don't hear rock songs in D-flat major that often either!

  • Kathy Burke on backing priceless

  • The close to the edit live track was nearly as good a live performance of pop music as I have ever seen, the drummer was first class plus trevors baseline

I bought the dvd on the back of it so a shame the copyrighters pulled it, these tracks do generate sales, tust the consumer, we are not all bad

  • ,,Video Killed The Radio Star" probably marked the beginning of the dawn of music's GREATEST decade, the 80s.

So maybe it isn't wrong to call Trevor Horn the "inventor" of the POP.

  • Surely one of the best singles of the 70's !!

  • What happened to the art of noise "close to the edit" from the same concert? Used to be on youtube, got pulled and completely disappeared...

  • Great music, ace band quality vid plus 5+ Pity they couldnt perform more often ???

  • Fantastic!!!!!!!! i hope can have this version!!!!!luv that!!!!!! i wanna play in club !!!!

  • The gale at 3:33 just nails the vocals!

  • Bet that was a great concert to go to.

  • best version ever !!!

  • With Ann Dudley on keyboards. ;-)

  • its kinduh sad to see him in this video, then remember how young he seemed in the original video. in a sense, he has become the radio star from his song.

  • ein verdammter ohrwurm ^^

  • Genial. Die Frauenstimmen sind Oberklasse. Besonders das "Solo" !

    5 Sterne

  • An alltime fave of mine...

  • wow great video better than the MTV version

  • fantastic live and song

  • better then the MTV version I think

  • nice :)
