I can get 40 psi (warm day) or 42psi  (cold day) from a 2001 550 cat 3406E, thats a single turbo

You know, those C15 ACERT engines had the same amount of problems as the Cummins ISX EGR engines did. Although, yes they had problems, they were pretty good engines. They really had problems starting in 2007 when they used a 'flamethrower' aftertreatment system behind the turbo. Yikes!

if youre holding it up around 34lb boost on a long hill with heavy load, what do your EGT's get up to? just curious...

@bogart286 The EGT's were really low, 850 to 900 pulling any pass even with a big excavator or cat on it! The truck really does well when you keep the pyro under 900, the oil temp will come up some, but I can keep the pedal to the floor and not have to gear down to keep it cool. Can leave it do its thing with anything on the back. Even with 200,000 it never really runs out of power!!!! Nothing like Cat Power!!!!!

The last big truck engine by Cat that worked properly was the C18/620hp tho' a bit thirsty. C15 ACERT engines were just bad jokes as well as the C13 acerts.. or why the Caterpillar Inc has sued by several customers..

what was the speed you hit pushing 33 lbs? or were you pulling a hill?

@rrc5034 I hit the bottom of the hill around 67 and didn't lose much if any at all at the top, I was really light, I was hauling a 44 foot yacht which was about 30k with a heavy haul spec truck. Was just showing how fun that truck can be!!

whats your Turbo Boosting? @ whats your Peek? at do you get it Peeked to Max.? my dads he said he can Peek it @ like 38-39PSI.. on a warm day. Cold day it was like 30-32Psi on a Cold day. Very nice KW. is it a T800.? or a T600? good Video tho man..

@KenWorthboyw900l I used to hit anywhere from that 38-42 lbs any day of the week but I kept on blowing turbo's up so had to back the wastegate down for the turbo's to live so now I'm only pushing 33. On a heavy haul truck the turbo is always at it's max. The 38-42 was alot of fun and low egt's but couldn't keep them alive!! Truck hard!!!!

@abrahammedal My dads series 60 pushes over 50lbs and they can do 50 stock but a cat stock should be able to do 25 pounds no problem so you may have a turbo problem. Just an idea

No they didn't, the hottest it will get,even pulling 190,000 is only 950. Its the tranny temp and rear-ends that heat up.

Is that a stock 550? Also, is it a Cat Research turbo? Lastly, is that a 6NZ Cat? Sorry to ask a lot of questions... but this video makes my day everytime I watch it!

It came from the factory a 475, a week later it was turned to 550. It is a Cat turbo and yes it is a 6NZ. Its a heavy haul truck so it gets its guts pulled out of it about everyday. It is probably the most pullin-est SOB I have ever drove. And YES it impresses me about every day to!

An HT3B Holset on a big cam 3 cummins can do that no problem, just need fuel. An HT3B holset turbo are the best things for these cat motors.

Maybe a 3B would help it some, but I don't know of any Cummins that will pull with a Cat respectively! :)

@poldrag08 My dads old small cam 335 could probably keep up with an older 3406 cat. In the winter time you could outpull a 8v92TA silver 92 detroit, but the problem is that when you pull under 1800 rpms the egts would rise faster then you could lift your foot.
