  • I play a selmer privilege in college with a c star and rover lig, with 3.5 v12s. And I love how it sounds., but I have yet to try a vandoren

  • Ummmm I have a question....What kind of ligature do you play on? I'm about to buy a new mouthpiece and I am completely clueless as to what ligature to get.

  • @nq1028 Rovner versa

  • The Vandoren web site says Michael Lowenstern now uses a Vandoren B50 with V12. What happened to his Matson refaced C* ?

  • @cyberprimate It's true. I tried the B50 this past fall and, after 30 years of playing my Matsons, switched. If you had told me this would have been the case even last year, I would have called BS. But yep, it's a great mouthpiece. Just be sure you use injure reeds on it (I'm using 2.5 V12's if you can believe it) -mike

  • @earspasm I found out about you on a French discussion board about clarinet. People were discussing about your cover of "summertime". I'll definitely give the B50 a try. Is it stock or have you had it refaced by someone?

  • So your mouthpuece opening is 1.90 mm right? I was on mcclunes site, and he copied your normal piece and thats what it saod. Great vid. Thanks alot!

  • Open is not better than closed and the other way around. It's all matter is how easy it allows you to get the tone in your head and how easy it allows you to focus the sound, play staccato, play high notes and so on. Fast staccato is even made easier on very closed mouthpieces. Lawrie Bloom a closed bass mouthpiece by Walter Grabner and he gets great result. Eddie Daniels uses fairly close mouthpieces and get great result playing ether classical or jazz music.

  • @klarinetta he didnt say its better. he said that people often choose a mouthpiece that is too close. it's also his opinion. he is by the way, prolly the best if not one of the best bass clarinettists in the world. im pretty sure anyone should take into respect and value everything he says.

  • Excuse me. Could you be my mentor :D

  • Thanx a lot for this helpfull information,

    I won't miss part 2.

Talking about the mouhpeace is a good startingpoint because it is part of the soundsource.
