We lost everything during/after the Vietnam war. Culture/language is all we have left. It's what makes us unique in southeast asia. Thai people can claim Khmer culture as theirs and get away with it because they are so similiar to Cambodia. If we don't voice our opinion then is all lost.

This art was however stolen when the first T'ais claimed it as their own during the times when Cambodia was at her worst. This also goes for our culture whom they have adopted from us as well. Look into the Shan states and you will see original T'ai culture. Understand that the Khmer art and culture will be imitated many times over and over again but never will it be duplicated.

How can it be stolen when if you really know history. Cambodia, Thailand and Laos used to be the same country? Can you steal from yourself? It was originally the Khmer Empire and it broke up into three powerful kingdoms. Who share the same culture, traditions, obviously military style and blood. This art was however stolen when the first T'ais claimed it as their own during the times when Cambodia was at her worst. This also goes for our culture whom they have adopted from us as well. Look into the Shan states and you will see original T'ai culture. Understand that the Khmer art and culture will be imitated many times over and over again but never will it be duplicated.

Yeah very democratic, that would explain the military coup de tat in 2006, and about 16 military juntas since WW2. Khmers are forced to enter Thailand for jobs because it pays better there obviously. They are cutting people's grass and cleaning homes to feed their family, is that a job you thais want to do?
