Any chance you could send me the tabs and chords to this song? One of my all time favorite songs and I still can't figure it out on my guitar. Your help would be appreaciated. Great playing.
@gabriel19551 Thanks, I'm sorry I did this one totally by ear listening to Jobim's version, I've done many tabs on finger style tunes but I think I'm going to stop it because nobodies willing to pay a fee for all my extra work, cheers Vic.
Fantastico! I have been learning this piece and it is great to see a master chord melody player lay it down. I sometimes get stuck playing in the same positions. It's very helpful to watch you play and is quite soothing to the mind! Bravo Victor! Ambrose
Thanks Ambrose for your supporting words, it's not easy finding good working voicings over the range of the whole instrument but keep working at it and most of all understand your theory,it sure helps,Vic.
Thanks dle77,it's a long of trial and error and especially persistence,in these times most guys are not willing to take that road, they want everything by pressing a knob, doesn't work with Music, grets Vic.
i'm listening to every version of this song on youtube. your rendition is perfect -- very much in tune with the spirit of the composition, sleek and inventive without being showy. a joy to listen to.
Thanks Jim, great comment, you're right I'm not playing to impress people,I'm trying to play the Ideas I hear in my head, and I play in service of Music.
Very very nice. I've always wanted to learn to play like that. I idolized Joe Pass growing up, but learned to play more in a Hendrix/Santana rock style. Thanks for posting this. It is now added to my favorites.
Thanks evanhue1030, nothing wrong with Hendrix/ Santana style,I like that very much too, in this style I learned harmonic and melodic refinement (with all respect to the other styles) greets Vic.
Very good playing, the tone is to die for, incredible fluidness to the whole thing! Trying to learn it myself, but for someone whom only have been playing for 2 years, it's quite hard, but I'm not giving up, but I've realized that it's gonna take a lot of work, soul & time to get it to the level which you've acheived! Wonderful playing once again!
Hi Wyldelyfe, You got the right motivation, don't give up,learn your Tools, scales, arpeggios, know where modulation occurs, those are the main things of course solid rhythm, you've got to love the Music then it will come in time, greets Vic thanks for your fine comment.
Hi dronai, I think I do a lot intuitively,I just listen what the Tunes needs and pick a choice of technique I can use,of course I have studied those techniques, greets Vic.
Thanks picknpaws, well try downloading "Band in a box" (demo version) it's a very user friendly program you can generate your own accompaniment with fairly easy, greetings Vic.
very impressive stuff victor! you totally nailed this crazy chord progression... just out of curiosity, how many recordings did you take before you settled on this one?
Hi Spiow, thank you, man I really don't know how many, I mostly Jam for a while getting in the Mood of the Tune, mostly I'd say 2 up to 4 takes,no more.greets Vic.
Perfect,my friend,as I can see you master the guitar.5 STARS from me,in my opinion this is the best cover of "Wave" in youtube.Your Ibanez sounds perfectly, very warm and deep tone.I hope you'll neer stop uploading blues guitar videos.
Hi Robby, I'm afraid I"ll never master the Guitar(at least not in this life) It's a too complex material to just waltz over in a shallow way,but on the other hand I know I'm extreme critical about myself. greets Vic.
Thank you Edson, brazilian music has always inspired me,because of the quality of most compositions, like Jobim, absolutely great what that man has wrote in his lifetime, deep respect, greets Victor.
Victor, I loved your arrangement. I keep trying to catch the logo on the headstock...are you playing a Benedetto?(I also couldn't catch the trademark tailpiece. But, what a sweet and warm sound you're getting. I couldn't help noticing all of the guitars on stands and hanging from the ceiling. LOL. Reminds me of my den...my wife doesn't understand..."you can only play one at a time!"
Hi darylwerth, thank you, it's an Ibanez GB20(taken out production years ago) Someone who doesn't play guitar doesn't understand why I have several instruments, every guitar has a distinctive sound and I use them all on the Tube as well, a strat for instance is a totally other story then this instrument. You're welcome for the Clinic, enjoy my music, greets Victor.
I have never seen any not Brazilian playing Bossa Nova like you. (I'm from Brazil) I play piano and I know that Bossa Nova is very challenging and great to play. You played by hart ! Perfect! A+
Thank you, I grew up in Curacao(close to Venezuela), so I grew up listening to lot's of latin, from young age I always Improvised, for me that's the essence of Music, it's like a conversation, who knows where it will lead us too,I love the unexpected, greets Victor.
Lovely..... now that's how I'd like to be able to play Wave. I've been learning a bit of jazz for the last couple years, but it's tough going after playing rock for so long. Check out my attempt at Wave if you get a chance.
I can Imagine, this is another world than Rock, there's lot's of Harmony and melody going on and certainly comparable with Jazz, you really got to "dig in" and put quite some time in this style to be able to play it. Greets footcandy,Victor.
Yes cassinell guess you could say that, I love the brazilian style, full of harmony, rich rhythms and Images that cross the mind when listening, greets Vic.
You have a fabulous set of fingers...excellent playing. You really make it look easy with your very smooth rhythm, which makes it even more impossible to duplicate! Thanks so much for sharing your stuff!
Thanks Larwin, the daily practice sessions and the love for music is paying off now, I always tell Musicians put in your Heart and Soul and it can't go wrong, and ofcourse patience(a scarse good these days)greets Vic.

Real nice Victor. Great improvising on a melody that is 'outside' the norm, harmonically. (Unless it's just that I don't know the melody too well!) A pleasure to listen to your choice of phrases and keep it going. I thought I had commented aleady here, but if I did, the comment dropped off! John
Thank you John, yes indeed in the beginning I had to fight my way through the chords but after a while I started discovering the logic and again I learned a few things,Jobim is a great composer I think, greets Vic.
Hi Vic, Very well played and your guitar has sweet sound. Wave is a beautiful Bossa Nova but at the same time it's rather difficult to improvise on because of the bridges, still you mastered it in your own way. It seems easier to improvise on at a lower tempo my version runs a bit faster and on the sax it really gets you into trouble. Very well played, you know I love the Bossa Rhythms from the master Antonio Carlos Jobim if you have time, give me a few more. Greets, John
Yeah John,it is a difficult chordprogression and at certain points you really got to know what you are doing melodically, still there's a logic in this tune but this is too complex to explain in this limited answer, as with much music you have to do your meditating and thinking, this indeed one of my favourite Bossa's such a great melody and chordprogression, greets Vic.
Hi Domingo's from Spain(vacation)maybe in the future I might do something with Naudo(great Player)but I need somebody to do video editing(like Scott)I'm lousy at that, greets Victor.

No Matter Pat,just keep your own tempo man, who's payin' you? why bother with crazy folks like me, however a little crazyness makes the world go round, thanks man, greets Vic.
A five-star, as allways, Victor. I especially like your ending of the second A on the first chorus of improvisation. Great tension! And I also like the way you treat that bridge - not easy to make sense, there. But easy for you... Thx 4 sharing!
Thanks Jogi, well somethings might look simple but sometimes I have a deep meditation about some parts how to tackle them, this tune has a lot of chords man and it has to make sense, you've got to feel the form, greets Victor.
Thanks fred, Herb Ellis was the first Jazzguitarist I heard play this tune and it was love at first hearing,Jobim is a great composer, what do you think of Stan Getz?
