You also can`t assert political dominance over a specific view. Both philosophies are good. Liberalism is good for market reform, taxation reform, Climate change reform, acknowledging ethnic minority rights (They always do it the stupid way) But they still do it and social policies. When Democrats controlled at least the House $14.8 Trillion has been added. When Republicans controlled BOTH houses they added $208 BILLION (With a B or $.208 Trillion) to the debt, and when Republicans controlled at least the House $1.99 Trillion (mostly due to counting this last Obama bullshit year against them)...

Reagan changed that 13.7% into a low of 4.6% and an average over his last 5 years of 5.7%. Clinton took Bush's final 6.8% and raised it to 7.1% by 1995. Then Republicans took the Congress, forced spending cuts and some lowering of taxes and unemployment dropped to an average of 5.2%. GWB avg was 6.1% and final was 7.2%. Obama took that to 10.2% and has avged 9.4%...

The CRA expansions of '93 and '95 forced banks to make 25% of their loan portfolios to high risk people. That made housing prices skyrocket, forcing even stranger loans to these bad riasks (0% down, interest only, 1 MONTH ARMs, etc). Republicans tried to reign it in and put stricter oversight on Fannie/Freddie, but Dems opposed them...

It would've been even lower if congress has passed the 6 balanced budgets he submitted instead of spending $1.7T more than he requested. Clinton's first 2 years saw avg unemployment at6.9%. He dropped unemployment to 5%, inflation to 3%, and interest rates to 7%. Reagan did this while dealing with an idiot House with 265 Democrats that used the treasury to buy votes. He sent 6 balanced budgets and they passed none. Reagan did not run even 1 year of deficits, the House did, learn the constitution.
