I really had no strategy against him. All i did was wait for him to approach to me, then I let him have it.
I started my punch combo if he got too close. I took advantage of my kicks if my foot was just in range. I also mixed up punch with kick combos to throw him off guard.
And I tried something that I thought it would'nt be possible. I did 2 kicks then linked into the elbow.
I admit I got whacked a few times from him but that didn't discourage me of taking him down.
Aye. He did try to jump kick me a lot. A few times he landed. Most of the time I blew through it with a single punch, sometimes a kick, and a elbow works wonders against his jump kick if you time it right.
Was really funny to watch. Too bad I didn't film it. No capture card. :(
Well I downloaded the Nes emulator and got the Double Dragon Rom. Good thing I had Winrar to unzip those files. Now I'll have to learn how to use it lol.
I just started playing this game recently. I forgot how hard this game is. Big problem for me is the timing of my punches and kicks. And I keep getting killed by those spikes that drop on you in mission 3. Still i'm enjoying the challenge.
Personally, I'd recommend using a turbo controller for the punch combo.
Use the punch combo for the first 2 levels only. By the time you get to the first 2 Abobos on Level 3, you should have 7 hearts and be able to do the elbow smash.
After level 2, I'd use standing kicks, grappling, jumping kicks, mounting, and the elbow smash.
It just takes timing to get by the spikes. You can go back in the door at 9:00 for more health.
How'd ya like the nut-shot I gave that guy at the 6:21 mark? Ouch. =)
It's not that bad to play classic games on the Virtual Wii. Yes we do have to pay for classic games. They range from 500 to 1000 wii points. I think that's $1 every 100 pts. On average you pay $5 to $10 per classic games.
I believe it was worth the money. I did grew up playing the classics he he. :)
You got a point. Still I made a decision. And to be honest I don't know how to emulate a game onto a computer. Sounds to complex to even begin learning about it for me.
this has to be the worst version of this game aside from c64's,i hated this.
the one on one mode was worse.

See the heart(s) located below your health bar?
The number of hearts will increase by 1 each time you earn 1000 hit points. The number of hit points you have is located to the left of the hearts.
I believe you can perform a jump-kick after you have earned 3 hearts.
Simply press the A and B buttons simultaneously.

After all these years, I finally beated this game. Thanks to your tips I did a lot better then I did back in the old days.
I lost only 1 life to that boss that fires a machine gun. To be honest Jimmy was a lot easier to handle.
I feel awesome.
FatsoGering 3 years ago
Awesome! Congratulations!
You thought Jimmy was easier than Machine Gun Willy? Well, he does have that gun which can kill you pretty quickly.
How did you kill Jimmy? He has so much health and he's very quick. What was your strategy?

Ah, the kick-kick-elbow smash combo. Good times. I used that on Jimmy a couple of times in my video.
It works really well if you have the quick reflexes necessary to pull off such a combo.
You just let him approach you? Didn't he jumpkick you a lot?

The elbow smash neutralizes his jump-kick? Huh. Didn't know that.
Yeah, I wish I could see your video.
You should really download the emulator and rom. It's a piece of cake to upload your videos onto youtube that way.

It's very easy to use.
First, you should create one folder to put all those files into.
1. Double-click the emulator icon (it looks like an NES console) to open it up.
2. Go to "Config" - "Input" to personalize your controller settings.
3. Go to "File" - "Open" to find the Rom you want to play. Open it up.
4. Start playing!
If you want to record videos,
1. Go to "File" - "Record AVI". Play around with the settings and see what works best for you.

Thanks for the tips. One more question. There are a lot of files for Double Dragon rom. Which one is the legit game?
FatsoGering 3 years ago
Double Dragon (U).nes
It's the 4th one up from the bottom. The "U" stands for United States of America.

Thanks a bunch for the help. You didn't have to walk me through this ya know. :)
Thanks for your time.

It was my pleasure, buddy.
I've had some people help me out on the internet when I've had problems.
There are a lot of really cool people out there on the internet willing to help others.
I just wanna be one of those people. It feels good to help others.
I hope I get to see some videos from you on youtube in the future. Good luck and have fun!

I play Double Dragon on my Nintendo Wii. I doubt there's a turbo controller available. Looks like I'm stuck playing with the classic controller.
Lol I didn't notice that at 6:21 until you told me. :P
Lol i didn't
FatsoGering 3 years ago
The Virtual Wii, huh. I see. I kind of feel bad for people that have to pay for the classic games. I've heard Nintendo is charging too much.
I don't think there's a turbo controller for the Wii, but I could be wrong. There's always a chance some company like Madcatz might make one.
You could play Double Dragon on an emulator. I could hook you up with the rom.
I still have my NES and Double Dragon cartridge but I had to get an emulator to put these videos on youtube.

Yeah, but why pay when you can play them for free on your computer???

Dude, are you kidding!?
Using emulators is as easy as pie!
I was against them at first because I thought they wouldn't be accurate enough, but boy was I wrong.
You don't even need that powerful of a computer to play NES games.
All you gotta do is download the emulator and the rom, run the emulator, load the rom and you're good to go.
If you have a controller for your pc, then that's even better. If not, they cost about $20.
Dude, it's soooo easy. More importantly, it's FREE!!
bubufubu 3 years ago
I would like to have more information about emulators and roms. Mind giving me a link? If not I will have to resort to Google.
