@EpicAdventureQuest actually you are, they dont even allow canadian citizens to defend their life if someone is trying to take it from you. you have to allow yourself to become the statistic. you're a pussy, go fuck yourself
i agree that people should exercise their rights to video tape if they want but these guys were intentionally trying to provoke these cops to a confrontation after they had already left them alone.
@sirdundark you can't be serious? People like you are the reason the government strips away our rights on a daily basis! Why would you think it illegal to film in public. and if this were true, why the f*** would you be okay with it!?!?
@lorenztor1990 No they're standing in the middle of the street taunting the police shouting "duh duh duh". If they want to drink and have fun with a video camera that's fine by me. However they left their property and publicly intoxicated in front of a carnival where they can be a danger to children.
about times somebody video and get even with the cops. they think they above the law so they can do whatever they want to do? it's sad for the good cops...
It's ignorant fucking retards like this that fuck shit up. I do believe it's illegal If you walk up to a random scene and start filming. Now if your apart of what has happened in the scene then you have the right to film. Plus these retarded drunks were being fucking stupid and rude. The cop was just doing his job. Now I could see why the cop was being rude was cause these 2 drunks were.
@sirdundark if its illegal to film a random scene then why is it fine when news channels film? If its a news crew filming everything is fine and dandy but as soon as average Joe comes around the corner with his camera he gets put in cuffs. Also if its illegal to film cops then why do we have all these cameras around city that film everyone including cops and none of us agree to it. Just because you have a beer in your hand doesn't make you an alcoholic nor does it make you drunk.
I think the officer approached the situation incorrectly by demanding the camera. What the officer should have said was something along the lines of, " hey guys do you mind not filming us, thanks". I think most rationale people would adhere to this type of approach and cease with filming.
young white niggers are always making videos talking shit, but when the time comes to back up their cowardly mouth they chill out and act like all is well, stupid white niggers are always going to be an issue, until they grow up they will continue their juvenile foolishness or until someone smashes out their looks, which can never come too soon
@thepolishpen not hating or anything, but if u support cops in every way then explore u-tube a little more, so its okay for a cop to shoot an kill a wiener dog, because it barked, a fucking wiener dog, u support that
You are right to a degree if u are asked not to film them u need to put it away or film a differnt area 2 blur out there face 3 if its police fire and paramedics that ask u blur out there badge and name on uniform before u post this video otherwise ur gonna get arrested
First and foremost, these two idiots filming the cops are playing with matches, sure they have the right to film the cops, however smoking a doobie and admitting to it was just plain stupid! To bad the cops missed that.
I totally understand that the police had no right to take your camera, but they are just trying to do their jobs like you and me and I don't think they need to be insulted like that..
Next time your ass is in the street bleeding to death because you sound like your all talk and no show the two cops will step right over you and say, "Oh well, we can't do shit".

Lets face it the cops want you to think its illegal to tape them so there is no record or evidence of their crimes or incompetence. If they are followiing procedure and upholding the law as written they won't care, in fact they can use your tape to help their case. Amazing how they want you to put the camera down when they are in the wrong and pick it up when it helps them.
My buddy is a lawyer who recently sued and won a case like this. Some people were video taping a police officer and he took their camera from them without their permission- lets just say that police officer isnt doing police work anymore.
This guy is clearly just jealous that these cops have careers and a life and these guys are just druggie drunk losers with no life and gonna die alone. Haha. What scumbag losers
what's the difference between videotaping a police officer vs regular Joe? Should there be a difference? Besides videotaping officers could work to their benefit for evidence at a scene of a crime etc etc, what's the problem?

@FreeRunner5000 you CAN video ANYONE in A PUBLIC AREA, without impeding any vehicle or pedestrian traffic, without their consent, audio and video, you CANT video anyone on private property or in area's posted not taping - and that's usually at things like concerts.
Where the hell did you get that idea from? I don't know about Canada, but in the United States, you can legally record or photograph anyone or anything that is on a public street or visible from a public street WITHOUT permission. And that includes cops. In fact, a Federal court ruled recently that recording police is protected under the First Amendment.
@ct92404 where do i get that idea from? the canadian law dude, i'm not american, and nor are the people in this video, i'm friends with many police officers, and if you tell somebody you don't want to be filmed, you can't film them
@ct92404 I agree with you on this. I would like to know what politican wrote up that law and where is it. I never heard it before but several Youtube Videos show people arrested for doing so. They need to held accountable for there actions as well.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
They are not exercising their freedom of speech, and a citizen is not considered "the press". In Illinois it is a two party consent state, which means if you are making a audible recording you better have everybody's permission that's involved or you are guilty of eavesdropping which is a Class 4 Felony. Might want to read up on your law, 720 ILCS 5/14‑1
Oh yeah and if you're going to point out the Boston case with Simon Glik.. That ruling was in the First Circuit Court of Appeals... Illinois is in the 7th, therefore it does not apply. That ruling only pertains to cases in The First Circuit Court.
There was another case recently, where a cop in Wahpeton, North Dakota arrested a kid for just recording a video of him, by trying to claim that he was "interfering." That cop was given a 5 day UNPAID suspension, and he had to take re-training in Constitutional law. Video recording and photographing police is protected under the First Amendment, period. BTW, that cop was also told that if there were any more incidents like that, he would be fired.
i have to say cops yes powertrip kids need to be a little less cocky but if i were a cop or anything if I say dont film me then dont fucking film me or i will smash your cam man lol like come on he says turn it off or away from him then turn it off or film something else easy done everyones happy
If i want to film you Im going to do it whether you like it or not and if you break my camera im going to fucking sue you right out of that nice little uniform
@NitroExpressify in the situation depicted in the video, the guys were just having a good time and videotaping it. Then a police officer showed up. Is he supposed to just throw it away?
Just a couple kids having fun and the cop who is on a power trip and has to work wanted to fuck with them period. Amazing how the badge and gun make them into tough guys!!! It really is too bad....a long time ago...people like them...now they are just ass holes!!
What up with the long comments wewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwewwwwwwweeeeqweeewwwwwwwwwwwertfdsfcghfewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwiwwwwwillwwwwhackwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwhackwwwwwwwwwyoutubewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmkkkkkkkkkkkmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
They couldn't thats breaking the law its threatening a peace officer DOLT. BALLESS TWIT learn what the law is before you spew. AND YOU DOLTS who try to invent exceptions to the law are the DORKWADS who will be the prime reasons MARTIAL LAW WILL BE SHOVED DOWN YOUR THROATS.
lol at the dude talking shit, only after the cops leave. You weren't saying you were going to knock him out when he was standing right there in front of you. Fuckin pussies!!
Another thing, next time you post a link to have credibility, post '.gov'. Just because an attorney has an opinion, is meaningless (now that's an opinion). So, your point is, child molestation suspects can sue, or criminally charge the media for posting his/her picture because they didn't obtain consent..., ridiculous! And, for the record, I disagree with the media for doing that, because even if innocent, life is tarnished. By using suspected/alleged, they get away with it, legally.
@fmnma1 using their picture while talking about an ongoing case which is public knowledge anyway is completely different from what i am talking about anyway, why do you always throw in something i am not talking about? i am not talking about defamation i am talking about RIGHTS to use motion picture without consent if it uses your likeness without having the proper consent, especially while getting paid for it, news coverage usually posts mug shots which are public access and taken with consent
I didn't say you were talking about defamation, I was pointing out what you 'could' sue them for, if that were the case. Context Watson, context (and let's not throw out comprehension either)... If you are using someone's picture or video to gain revenue, YES YOU NEED THEIR CONSENT...This is what YOU,RE talking about, not someone who simply is a tourist taking pictures! Paparazzi, gets his/her money buy selling pictures of famous people, illegal? NO!
"a cable TV producer was found to be acting within his First Amendment rights when he recorded public officials conversing in a hallway at the Pembroke (Mass.) Town Hall following a meeting of the town's Historic District Commission. The newsgathering value protected by the First Amendment does not apply only to newspapers or over-the-air broadcast stations, the court said.'
-This means, 'freedom of the press no longer applies to 'media', it applies to everyone (cell phone tech, love it!
@timmaaa07 You didn't have to post anything about wiretap... That's what we are talking about here 'the eavesdropping/wiretapping' laws. If you posted it or not, it's irrelevant. Opinions have nothing to do with the law. We are discussing wiretapping/eavesdropping laws. You don't need someones consent to film, nor publish if *(you need to look this up before you make yourself look foolish) *no expectations of privacy, it's all in the vocab really, and fairly easy to comprehend!
you're an asshole sitting there antagonizing the police "because they can't do anything" and then when they step over the line you'd be trying to sue their asses off.
sometimes the people are the assholes ,not the cops.
@evannati police antagonize people all the time, they walk around like their the almighty and tell people what to do all the time, just to be have power, and now the first time a citizen says no he's the bad one? i dont think so they need to be recorded cus the shit they do off camera is just terrible.
@evannati When you are rude to a Burger King employee does that give them the right to spit in your food? When you are rude to the cashier does that give them the right to give you incorrect change back? When you tell the Governor you dont think he is doing a good job does that give them the right to shut your power and water off? Bottom line is, if you dont have patience for a job you are doing then DONT FUCKEN DO IT. BTW I am a security guard, and I know a lot about putting up with shit.
HURRAY FOR THE BOYS WITH BALLS! WE DONT NEED NO POLICE IN THIS COUNTRY CITIZENS CAN PROTECT THEMSELVES WAY BETTER THAN COPS DO IT. HOW MANY WOMEN HAVE DIED AFTER POLICE RELEASED THE WIFE BEATER WITHOUT NOTIFYING THE BEATEN WOMAN EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE ORDERED TOO BY JUDGES? YOU CANT COUNT THAT HIGH WAKE UP AMERICA!
@aacrowley897 people can stop a bank robbery, kidnapping, murder, arson suspect, and robbers all on their own! we don't need bullet proof vests or search warrants! we are invincible!
the police were completely wrong. it is against the sixth amendment for the police to take personal property without a proper warrant or proper compensation.
So, questioning authority is an act of being a 'pussy'? Sorry, but most don't have the balls to question authority, or an officer giving a request (which for some reason most of the time, sounds likes an order)... Because of the brutality, and careless attitude police have these days, what they did was something you will reply to 'oh yes sir', 'right away sir', that's being a pussy! I'd like to see you tell a cop, 'no'... Of course you're just to scared, it's okay!
@fmnma1 NO shit for brains My comment was about how tough they acted long after the cops left. If they are so tough then why wait for the cops to leave. This is something thatg you would probably do also.
They didn't wait, cop requested his camera, did ya see him say yes? I know you don't like the big man with the gun and he scares you, but maybe one day you'll grow a set.
@fmnma1 Why don't you take your head out of your ass and watch the video again. They not once acted tough while the cop was there. Yes they told him no and were stern about it, but their attitude and macho got real tough after the cop left
It used to be like that here in the U.S. Back in the 70's we had a very liberal justice system and you could get away with holding firm on your rights, but since the conservatives took over the courts you can get handcuffed for looking at a cop wrong. The U.S. is a nation of oppressed citizens who just don't know it until they come face to face with it. What the U.S. needs is another civil right movement. Not one based on race equality but one against police corruption and abuse of power.
Actually it is illegal to film ANYONE (without their consent) if you intend to publish it... so... seeing as you published it... illegal.
I will admit that this copper clearly is not good at talking to people, "can i see your camera?" is not going to get your far... and once that fails "how much you had to drink" is not going to do much either.
I will also admit that these 2 morons acumulate to the total IQ points of the old chewed peice of gum i stepped on at the train station...

In Illinois it is a two party consent state, which means if you are making a audible recording you better have everybody's permission that's involved or you are guilty of eavesdropping which is a Class 4 Felony. Might want to read up on your law, 720 ILCS 5/14‑1

@ct92404
Oh yeah and if you're going to point out the Boston case with Simon Glik.. That ruling was in the First Circuit Court of Appeals... Illinois is in the 7th, therefore it does not apply. That ruling only pertains to cases in The First Circuit Court.
jcsaathoff 3 weeks ago
@jcsaathoff

@timmaaa07
By using suspected/alleged, they get away with it, legally.
fmnma1 1 month ago
@fmnma1 using their picture while talking about an ongoing case which is public knowledge anyway is completely different from what i am talking about anyway, why do you always throw in something i am not talking about? i am not talking about defamation i am talking about RIGHTS to use motion picture without consent if it uses your likeness without having the proper consent, especially while getting paid for it, news coverage usually posts mug shots which are public access and taken with consent
timmaaa07 1 month ago
@timmaaa07
NO!

"a cable TV producer was found to be acting within his First Amendment rights when he recorded public officials conversing in a hallway at the Pembroke (Mass.) @timmaaa07 You didn't have to post anything about wiretap...

Oh pleeaase.. : ) @evannati
Think about it just for a few Seconds. 'Why' have People become like
this, in Relationship with the Police, in America? Huh? Why..? ; )
"Antagonzing" ? B'WAHAHAAH, you sound like a angry Rightwing-
minded Fashist, who is upset about People being not obedient. You
know what's REALLY sad in America? People are training in
Schooling-course's to try to defend themself when a "Police Officer"
is standing before them, even tough the Defense is only with Words..
NeoTodesklingel 1 month ago
@evannati police antagonize people all the time, they walk around like their the almighty and tell people what to do all the time, just to be have power, and now the first time a citizen says no he's the bad one? i dont think so they need to be recorded cus the shit they do off camera is just terrible.
majorpayne132 1 month ago
@evannati When you are rude to a Burger King employee does that give them the right to spit in your food? When you are rude to the cashier does that give them the right to give you incorrect change back? When you tell the Governor you dont think he is doing a good job does that give them the right to shut your power and water off? Bottom line is, if you dont have patience for a job you are doing then DONT FUCKEN DO IT. BTW I am a security guard, and I know a lot about putting up with shit.

Of course you're just to scared, it's okay!
fmnma1 1 month ago
@fmnma1 NO shit for brains My comment was about how tough they acted long after the cops left. If they are so tough then why wait for the cops to leave. This is something thatg you would probably do also.
