After re listening to this and others, I feel bad for never giving Chelsea a chance as Ariel. She is very talented, and just had a different take and sound to Ariel then Sierra did! which is what she should have! It is true that no one else could do Ariel like Sierra, but Chelsea didnt ruin it!
all of you who keep complaining about Chelsea post a video response of you Singing this song because I highly doubt that you could do any better so leave your mean and rude comments to yourself please it would really mean a lot to me and maybe even Chelsea if she happens to stumble along this video

Yeah but i think if you had just taken over someone as amazing as sierra (who was perfect) youd be trying hard, as she it. It is understandable. I think she has a nice voice, maybe not ariel's voice (as sierra has) but still I think people should cut her some slack, it is high and she's trying her best :/
@pheonixstudios113 Being on Broadway means you're not offered very much slack. It's a high expectation for a performer sing these demanding scores on a weekly basis. If you're not capable of handeling it with grace & beauty. You shouldn't be there! "Trying your best" doesn't cut it. It's not about comparing her to Sierra.. It's about being authentic & talented. All of the other understudies did a wonderful job! Watch Besy Morgan as Ariel & you'll see what it means to be a terrific understudy.
she has a lovely voice. a little too perky-sounding at some parts, but lovely voice (i have respect for anyone who sings that last note so beautifully) the only problem is that we all fell in love with Sierra first, and nobody fits the part as perfectly as her.
she tries to hard to souns sill..and its just not magical..sounds...idk. not like the magical voice thats supposed to make eric fall for her. just doesnt fit.,
I admit that this is not the best performance of this song, but she is not straining, she just has a bright belt. I know for a fact that she has been taking lessons since she was a young child and she knows how to sing.
When she sings "Just look it's really me here." I honestly expect to hear a goofy "he-yuck!" dear god she has a god voice but isn't trying at all. She doesn't even sound like she is enjoying herself!
I'm sorry to anybody who is a fan of Chelsea but this is an awful performance! It's evident that she can't sustain what was written for the score. She's strained, nasally, and even off-key for goodness sake. This is an insult to the classic character of Ariel. Her voice was supposed to be stunning.This was cringe-worthy.Her acting ranks just as badly. It's all over-exagerated, over-prounced, & totally rehersed. There's not an ounce of sincerity coming from her being. This shameful!
