  • It's fuckin' beautiful, I love it :-)

I'm going to Iceland in October to live there until I die. My greatest dream is to become a tourist guide in Iceland :-)

    greetings from Poland.

  • best language!!!!.... after german xD

  • Er þetta Felix?

  • I have recently fallen deeply in love with Iceland, its language, its music and the closeness of the people. I am sooo curious of how Iceland is, and the beauty of the land...and everything about it...I hope I can visit soon.... Can anybody share some more awesome Icelandic bands/music/songs? I would greatly appreciate it :)

  • @NMOD2010 The song Ást sung by Rangnheiður Gröndal is a beautiful Icelandic song about love. Recommend it !

  • I can sing this song and i dont even understand this language. it just sounds really nice

  • ahha me too but icelandic sounds fantastic

  • If you like this song, you may be intrested in knowing this is a pretty old one. It is from a musical play from 1954.

  • Lindo idioma e linda música.

    Como gostaria de aprender islandes!!!

    Sou do Brasil, falo portuguÊs

  • Há muitos livros em inglês ensinando e um site da universidade de Reykjavík que oferece curso grátis on line(o site é em inglês)!

  • Jæja, nú ég veit þessari söngur ég líka.

  • Love Iceland!!! I'd like to live there nd can speak Icelandic ^^

  • i know that the polulation of iceland is about 320,000 people how are things like,i mean like you are like a big family - you know each other?

im so curious about this country *_*

  • Hehe, actually there are a whole lot of people I dont know,

BUT it happens surprisingly often that you meet people

    who know someone you know

or knew you this much time ago

    or something like that..,

And it isnt much out of the ordinary to see the people who are on tv

or have been in showbusiness walking on the street, in the shopping mall etc.

People arent standing in line behind them calling crazy to them and taking pictures.

At least I havent witnessed that.

  • think that it is like that in the smaller towns, where some of them have maybe population 500... but I am born and raised in the city and never got to know what it was like to live in a small town, but I hear it equals no private life, everyone knows everyone and gossip goes around etc..

But in the city it is different., not quite the same thing, you can walk downtown and not see anyone youve seen before or is related to you or anything.

  • nicegirlfromiceland is right to a point, but unlike her I lived both in the city and country now living overseas. She is right about that often when u run into people u find out they know someone u know even if u don't know them. And that does also happen in small towns surprisingly, that u do not know everyone especially when there are a few small towns just 2-5 miles apart. We are not all related. Other than that Iceland is beautiful and hopefully you'll have the chance to visit some day.

  • "I know that the polulation of iceland is about 320,000 people

how are things like,i mean like you are like a big family - you know each other?"

haha no, do you know 320 thousand people? ofcourse we aren't a big family but it does happen that you meet someone who knows like your friend or your dad or your brother

  • @nefeliumorf not in the the big citys like fx. Egilstaðir, Akureyri and Reykjavík we don't know everyone. but in smaller towns everybody knows who you might be and things like that.

  • This is so awesome! I just love iceland, do you know if sheet music is available for that song?

  • i was born in Norway (Norge)

  • Do you have any Icelandic singers you could reccomend? I want to learn the language so badly!

  • Try looking up these guys:

    Sprengjuhöllin

    Veðurguðirnir

    Magni

Those are some that I like to listen to. Also you can google search "íslensk tónlist" , which means icleandic music, and click on the first link that comes up. On that site there are a bunch of icelandic singers and bands, you can change it to english in the bottom right of the front page of that site.

  • Sprengjuhöllin yes, but dont listen to him, Magni sucks and Veðurguðirnir is crap...

Bands and singers you have to listen to...þ

    Þursaflokkurinn,

    Stuðmenn

    Megas

  • Oh dear god.

This poem drove me insane when

I had too menmorise it for school.

    The horror

  • Do you speak most icelandic or do you speak mostly english or what?

  • In real life I speak Icelandic (with occational english slang, not too much though) , online its English :)

  • oh cool. do you know any english? have you ever been to the USA? just wondering.

  • I replied to you in english.. didnt I, lol just kidding...

Yeah I speak english every day online and have been for the past 10 years or so lol..

most television i watch is in english, so I hear it every day too and dont really need icelandic subtitles... its nice to have english subs if there arent icelandic ones though.

English has become like my "second first language", and ive even dreamt, thought and talked to myself in english LOL.. not kidding there... I think its because

  • ...because I talk, read and hear english every day...

  • I forgot, no I've never been to USA, my parents have though..

I've been to London twice though :) (another english speaking country ;P )

  • interesting.i've never been to iceland.but i also have been to london.

  • Thanks you, looks like the icelandic language

  • well, yes, this is the icelandic language, that much I can say :) "my native tongue" lol.. :P

  • in fact, when I think about it, I think I remember correctly if this is a song to an icelandic poem

  • Nice.Its a great song,its is a poem from Iceland?,a Island very far

  • Its is a Icelandic song?

  • I dont know who composed the song originally or anything like that, I mean I dont know if it is a cover of something from Ireland, but it's an old song, maybe since 1960's.. to me its icelandic so I say yes, but if someone else knows it from another country please let me know :P
