  • I applaud Anatolians. Avoid maremmas which have no sense of threats and bark at nothing. See my video at ccoins102 for a sample of a maremma being a maremma.

I have seen both working and Anatolians are top dog for LGD and very sociable.

  • What's up with these people saying these aren't purebred Anatolians. I've worked with and studied dogs for over 15 years, and they most certainly are purebred. It's just like the people I just witnessed who said an Anatolian wasn't an Anatolian because "they didn't have a mask." Not all Anatolians have a mask, either.

  • @Beveque As I said before, these dogs are Anatolian, but not purebreds. In Turkey, these dogs passes as mongrels and you can see them as common stray dogs everywhere.

On the other hand, they are beatiful, healthy and cute dogs, and these qualities are much more important than that they are purebred or not.

  • @KutupTilkisi No kennel club register a mixed breed. :/ If they have papers, they're purebred.

  • I'm Turkish and I grew up with these dogs. They are Anatolians all right, but they're not purebreed. Even in Turkey, it is hard to find purebreed Anatolians. Their breed are under protection by the state, because that purebreeds are endangered. There are people breeds mongrels and sells them as Anatolians. There are only a few certified purebreed Anatolian breeders in Turkey.

  • My Anatolian looks like your Zeus, but much much smaller. She's very tender and protective, but also a bit shy with strangers. They're fantastic shepherds and wonderful pets. We get asked if she's a saint Bernard, a beagle, and even Bernese mountain dog. Guys, Anatolians breed description includes ALL COLORS, not just the typical mask and light body, the way you can really tell is their eyes which are knowing and almond shaped.

  • Zeus doesn't have the original color of an Anatolian Shepherd, from what I've seen. He has those adorable markings of a St. Bernard. Just wondering, but was there any sort of crossbreeding within their bloodlines? Anyways, thanks for sharing!

  • @BRENDADiZLE No, Zeus doesn't have any St. Bernard in him. Anatolians come in more colors than just 'fawn'. Zeus is a pinto. This is like people who ask me if my tri-color corgi is a mix because she's not a fawn. Dog breeds come in more than one color!

  • @sparklinburgndy hmmm i have a anatolian dogg turkish name is kangal and i see are kangals in the video but not like original color of an Anatolian Shepherd but the are kangals i can see an the dogg like i live in netherlands and netherland and turkey is not far a way i have bay my kangal in turkey for 250 euro is like 400 dollar i think wat is the price of a kangal in usa sorry for bat inglish

  • The Anatolian Shepherd Dog comes mostly in Fawn with Black Mask, but they also come with Dutch markings (like Zeus), Pinto markings (white mostly with fawn, red, black, grey spots), pure white, brindle and, occasionally, solid light fawn.

  • I have an Anatolian Shepherd too! I live in California and it was kinda hard finding one. :)

  • OMG...they are gorgeous!!!

  • are anatoilian shepherd puppy hard to find? i want one sooo bad but until im 12 D: oh and do you need to walk them out ALOT?

  • @darkpito5555

They belong on a ranch or farm doing the job nature intended for them. They are very active dogs and need room to run and a job to do.

  • @1962Rae They can be very passive dogs. I own an Anatolian Shepherd cross who is very happy with little exercise. Though I do recommend that if you live in town they will have to have a couple of long walks a day.

  • yeah there a pinto breed of anatolian its still pure breed its just a gene that traces back in the blood line an once a bitch throws pintos she will only throw pintos, there actually more sort after as they are a rairer anatolian but some people only want the standard fawn coloured anatolians with the black mask as they look more pure breed but there not its just like caucasian people with different coloured hair no different.

    Kangal=Anatolian

I know this as im a registered Anatolian breeder

  • I met one of these beautiful dogs at the beach a few months ago. Interesting color being a bit of peach blotty color on its head and darker spot on its back. The owner said his big guy was 130 lbs. That is big.

Love your vid and sorry to hear about Hera.

Hope Venus is doing okay along with Zeus!

  • Thanks for getting back, I am in agreement with your mom. I too believe that working dogs are happiest ...working!

Best of Luck with your fuzzy family.

  • Sorry for your loss. I understand that these dogs are not necessarily family pet dogs but rather happier living with live stock and adopting those animals as family. Do you know if they can be adapted to family living? I know that they are very protective of thier people and bond with them, but is house living the right thing for them.

Please let me know what your opinion is on that, Thanks

  • @jadebarbara In my opinion, these dogs need a job. They are happiest when they are working. That isn't too say they aren't good with people. Zeus and his child bride Venus are very friendly and well-behaved around people. Anatolians are very independant and while this makes them great to work unattended, it makes them less likely to obey commands. My mother wouldn't sell any of her puppies to a non-working home because she felt it wasn't fair to the dogs.

  • @sparklinburgndy I have to disagree with you there. I own a five year old Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd who was a originally bough to be a goat dog. Unfortunately do to me and wanting to baby him, he is more of a pet, but he makes a great human guardian. Guarding a home or a person can be just as much a job for a dog. My lovely boy makes me always feel safe when we go for a walk or anywhere.

  • are you still breeding?

  • AWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!

  • Awesome dogs!!!

  • Do you sell them? I have been looking for an Anatolian!

  • My mother's dog just had a litter of ten puppies. See the parents here on my video of Anatolians with Dorper Sheep. They don't have papers, but they are purebred. They'll be ready to go in a couple of weeks. Mom's selling them for $200 each and we're located in Northern Indiana near Lafayette

  • @sparklinburgndy Cool. We live in Ohio. Please let me know when they are ready!

  • @sparklinburgndy but at the same time I would never buy a so called pure breed Anatolians from a breeder who doesnt register her puppies because theres no reason too not register your pups line because you would be proud of its purebreed like I am of all mine, unless your hiding something like a cross an before you try too give me the usual excuses, as I said before I am a registered Anatolian breeder an theres no real excuse. Id bet a cross for sure.

  • @sparklinburgndy

Anatolians are NOT purebreds at least they are not in their country of orgin which is Turkey.

  • @sparklinburgndy I saw this post from over a year ago. Does your mother still sell Anatolian pure bred pups. I am looking for one to protect our small goat herd and registered is not an issue. I want one with solid bloodlines and instincts for protection.

  • man people really talk allot of junk online. Id like for some smart mouth like that unplugged 162 to come say somethign smart to me personally. your puppies are beautiful. I just got my anatolian shepherd pupy last week and she's amazingly smart and such a great puppy. she's about two months now and she's big. Like twice the size of your new borns.

  • 3 мес. назад

they are not anatolian shepherd dogs , itis bulgarian shepherd dogs(karakachsanska ovchsarka)

  • only 1 of them is a anatolian/kangal i live in the netherlands but iam turkish i have a big massive kangal in turkey, they are much slimmer though over there cause they move alot and have to be fast not like this lazy couch sitting dogs in foreign countries a kangal needs alot of space would love to have a kangal but i dont want to abuse the animal by letting it live in the city, i have a beatifull pitbull cross which is the sweetest dog ever and most beatifull

  • they are so cute! i want one when i get older. ive wanted one for years

  • OMG these little guys are just downright adorable!!! I would not let the ignorance of those who truly do not know the breed bother you. They are already doing a pretty good job of making themselves look stupid by publicly publishing their ignorance on the web.... I mean must be hard for them to distinguish race from breed HAHAHAHAHA or that a breed made by westerners isnt a breed (does that even make sense???)

    You have some gorgeous Ana's!!

  • Comment removed

  • I want to get an Anatolian Shepherd so bad!!! Yours are so cute ^.^

  • They look like Anatolians to me...Love the markings on Zeus. I'm sure the folks in the Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of America (ASDCA) would be shocked to find out there's no such breed.

    Cheers!

    Cheers!

  • they are not anatolian shepherd dogs you should know the race before having the pet

  • @unplugged162 Thanks for giving your opinon. Don't forget to flush. And the word is 'breed'. You should know the language before you try snarking in it.

  • @unplugged162 ROFL "race" really , didn't think that one through did we hahaha and yes they are your thinking of the Sivas Kangal Dog

  • @unplugged162 dude were did you come up with the idea that there not and both of them are anatolian shepherd dogs zeus just not the fawn black mask color that his sister is but i can tell from his body and muzzle shape that there both anatolian shepherds

  • @unplugged162 Dude anatolian sheperds aren't a pure breed.

  • @08EB08 the anatolian shepard is a dog recognized by and registerable with the AKC what more do you need to claim this as a purebred animal?

  • @Calicat1994 No there are too many variations, doesn't mean I don't like them I'm just talking from my personal experience with these dogs.

  • @08EB08 read my comment under this one mate it will answer your questions

  • @jimmycar83 What questions?

  • @08EB08 that anatolian sheperds aren't a pure breed which is wrong they are a pure breed there Kangals but when they are exported they just change the name thats all some people refuse an fight too keep the kangal name so alot of countrys have both breed names in the same country but there the same breed with different name, councils in alot of cases wont let you mix them because there different names even tho there the same dog its silly really in Australia there looking at changing it.

  • @jimmycar83 Sorry man I couldn't explain myself properly, when I meant variations I ment the Kangal, Akbash and other similar dogs. Yeah as you said they are all known as Anatolian Shepherds, but I see how you mean Anatolians are pure, like the Kangal and Akbash are pure aren't they? But you get other mongrels great at herding sheep, sharing similar characteristics as these dogs which are not pure yet called Anatolian Shepherds. This is what made me say that Anatolians are not pure.

  • @08EB08 I understand mate any breed may have mongrols in them but once that happens I believe they stop being that breed an become something else an Im not saying this video doesnt have a mongel in the line TBH Id say it probaly does as they made a comment that theres no papers an the only reason you have no papers is because theres a cross in the line(cant be registered as Anatolians) an if this is the case then there NOT Anatolian sheperds, there cute but still mongrels.

  • @jimmycar83

Well newsflash....the only place that Anatolians are considered a breed is in the US. In Turkey they are considered a cross breed and rightly so. No matter they are magnificent animals. My Anatolian is 9 months and will be used as a flock guardian, this is what they are intended for.

  • @1962Rae Newsflash your wrong... there not a cross breed and if they are a cross breed then you should have no problem naming the cross that noone can... its just a name and also Anatolians are considered a breed in many countries like my country Australia an I know the history of why we have Kangal seperate name from the Anatolian and its because Kangal owners 50years ago fought too keep the Kangal name after our Dogs organisation called all Kangals Anatolians.Yes there great flock guardians.

  • @08EB08 an I havent seen this persons papers but if I had too guess id say this is a pinto anatolian an I already explain what that means down below so you should read it

  • @jimmycar83 Yeah absolutely my father had this Mongrel in Turkey and it used to run very fast, and it was so clever that without us teaching it anything it would collect eggs and return to my father without breaking it. Every dog is great only if given the oppurtunity to prove itself.

  • Cute puppies, interesting breed. Thanks.

  • poor hera

  • poor hera

  • is Hera dead? i know awkward question, but i just hope not.

  • @PheonixDragonX Yeah, she got out and got hit by a car. Venus is her replacement.

  • hatun köpek almış, boşver heveslensin. Kızın moralini bozma.

  • Your puppies are so cute :D

  • yeah, they wouldn't come if their off doing their own thing. The day after Christmas last year we had an anatolian sheperd with a great pyranese mix that was four years old and he ran off down to the street and got ran over by a car. Also that same day before that happened, I was jumping a ramp as fast as I could on a mountain bike and I flew over the handle bars and skinned my face and stomach. LOL! It hurt like s***.

  • they are called Kangal by many people as well as Anatolian...and the problem might lie in the fact that as Kangal they are also more associated with the Kurds and as Anatolian Shepherds the Turkish...as if Nationality and Beliefs or names change the fact that we're humans and like the animals...individuals. A rose is a rose by any other name & these guys are beautiful

  • real nice dogs..but they are not '' Kangals''. They probably have mixed blood with kangals.

  • its anatolian shepherd and also kangal , we say kangal in Turkey and u say anatolian shepherd there , btw they are they the best!!!!

  • Im Turkish but i live in Tennessee and this dog is a Turkish i love this dog i want really if anybody got a infomation they sell this in my area pls let me know..

  • How are your puppies dong? My Anatolian puppy just turned 5 months old two days ago and he's already a tad over 50 pounds. They are amazingly huge puppies huh?

    Hope you're enjoying your pups.

  • very cute anatolians! good video.

  • The Anatolian Shepherd Became an official registered breed of the AKC or American Kennel Club in 1996. As well it competes in the Annual Westminster Dog Show that is broad cast all over North America in the working class catagory as well as being an offically recognized breed of the Canadian Kennel Club. Hmm, If it is an official breed of the AKC, the WKC, and the CKC, Then I guess it must be an offical, non made up breed. Someone (abdullah1977) should do thier homework.

  • I just wanted to let the owner of the pups and video know that I happened to live in Turkey for two years, near Adana, where I happened to get my very first Anatolian Shepherd. And amazingly, even the vet there in Turkey called my dog an "Anatolian Shepherd".

  • um... ok?

  • I was letting them know that "abdullah1977"s comment about Turkey wasn't correct from my point of view, since I happened to have lived in Turkey, where the name of the breed was indeed "Anatolian Shepherd", just as it is here in the USA.

  • you are saying this breed is from turkey yes? then what is the turkish name for this breed? what i am saying is that in turkey there is no breed that resembles the appearance of this dog. Anatolian shepherd in turkish coban kopegi is a term used for any dog that is used to guard herds. it isnt a breed. whereas BREEDS like kangal, akbas or malakli are called shepherds because that is there duty but it isnt there breed name.

  • Go look up an anatolian shepherd dog. Its not made up. Its a well recognized breed. no one cares what they call them in turkey. Go some research yourself before posting something such as "please don't make up breeds" because that is just rude

  • and yes its a cross breed and that is one of the main reasons that in this kind of dogs you get varying coat color and coat length. i have seen these dogs produce litters where there are dogs with black masks, no masks and pinto colors all in 1 litter. also these dogs are a watered down version of the kangal or akbas dogs. personally if there is any way of you purchasing one please buy a kangal and you will see the big difference physically and guarding wise :)

  • your claiming that this breed is from turkey and it is a different breed of its own, then what is the turkish name for this breed? please understand maybe you are sincere and dont know but its good to do reserach about a dog breed and then buy them.

  • please understand that the term anatolian shepherd = anadolu coban kopegi which uis a term used for shepherd dogs from turkey i.e kangal or akbas. that is there breed names nd not anatolian shepherd which is a breed made by westerners and which there is no breeder in turkey for such a name as u say :)

  • "It is a breed made by Westerners"

    So it is a breed.

I'm not claiming that there is actually such a breed from Turkey. I'm not claiming it's an ancient breed. I'm not claiming the name is correct to actual Turkish persons.

    But this is a breed.

    Stop being obnoxious.

  • Ran across your video. Sorry to hear about Hera. It would be good to see a pic of Venus as there are Anatolians with out masks. Those in the know realize that they are an official breed recognised by the AKC,WKC and the CKC. Just tell everyone else to do some homework and look up the breeds in actual dog books. Pinto Anatolians are seen at shows as well so go ahead and put one of Zeus as he must be a handsome adult male by now. Take care

  • anatolian is a ancient name of turkey. in TURKEY we call shepherd dogs coban kopegi or english shepherd. A kangal, akbas are also coban kopegi or a shepherd dog. BUT because they are different breeds they have breed names such as kangal or akbas. ANATOLIAN shepherd is a general term for these 2 dogs which westerners use but they have breed names of their own. The video of the pup is neither a kangal nor akbas it is merely a cross breed of some shepherd dog.

  • in turkey there is no breed such as a shepherd dog or an anatolian shepherd dog. anatolian is a general term used for the inner region of turkey. also there is no dog breed in turkey that is called a shepherd dog so i dont know what this anatolian shepherd dog is related to. but in turkey you can see similar dogs as these but they dont come under a breed classification. the 2 notable dog breeds from turkey are the akbas and kangal but they do not look anything like this dog.

  • "Shepherd" just means 'guards the flocks'

There are all kinds of different dogs that do the job of shepherd. Some of them actually have the name 'shepherd' in them, like German Shepherd or Anatolian Shepherd.

I am sorry you can't wrap your head around the fact that Anatolian Shepherd is a real dog breed. Please seek help for your denial.

  • anatolian shepherd akbas kangal and ovcharka are all related to the extinct persian mastiff. Thats probably why that puppy looks like an ovcharka which is weird but just shows they are all related. A true Kangal is not the same 'breed' as a antolian shepherd though

  • an anatolian is not a akbas or a kangal what is it??? there is no dog classification in turkey for this dog as you call it anatolian shepherd. they are merely stray dogs.

  • Since you obviously have internet access, how about you do a search for Anatolian Shepherd and see what comes up?

They are a very popular and well-known livestock guardian dog throughout Europe, the Americas and even Africa.

How you are claiming there is no such thing is beyond me.

  • there is no breed such as a anatolian shepherd that is from turkey. But there is dog breeds such as kangals, akbas and malaki that are from turkey. please do not make up breeds.

  • Listen, jerk; Anatolian Shepherds are what they are called in English. This is a breed recognized by the AKC. I am not 'making up' anything.

Akbas are probably what we call Akabash.

  • thats a CENTRAL ASIAN OVCHARKA

  • No, it's not.

  • I have a anatolian shepherd puppy named Tank and he is HUGE!!! I got him last year in Wisconsin. He is awsome with my family. He is a little hyper though. I make some videos of him so check it out

  • Hey, how are your dogs doing now? Zeus is a pinto, Hera is a karabas, and yes, one litter of Anatolians could contain both, as well as akbas. They get lighter as they grow up, and these two must be huge now - more video please? :)

  • FYI: If you named the puppies after the mythological Greek gods, it's spelled "Zeus."

  • Beatiful dogs. Now that its been a long time since this video, can you please record them again? :)

Also, how are they dealing with your herd? I just watched your horses, and seems like they get spooked easily, i wonder how they are with these dogs?

Also you said you'll be matching these pups up with some lambs, are they behaving good as well?

Also Cimtay, please look up a user called sserbulent1 who explains different breeds of Kangal. Very educational (must speak turkish though) :)

  • i think hera is a Kangal

and zues is defenitely a anatolian sheperd..

i don't think they are brother and sister

  • Um . . . considering there was *one* adult female on the property and *one* litter of pups, I'm thinking they are.

Hera's just a little dark. She looks a lot like the Anatolian we had when I was a kid.

  • okay those are your dogs you know best :D

(and eh kangals are always a bit dark when they are pups, but if you say they are anatolian sheperds i believe it )

  • Nice lookn' pups there! I've been contemplating an Anatolian. Yours look really nice.

  • Anatolians are great! Hera looks bigger than Zues right now but I am sure that will change. Did you get them from a ASDC breeder? I ask because they look great!
