The singer is Cheb Mami, from Algeria. Very famous in his country. Recently convicted and serving a jail sentence for (supposedly) forcing a woman he (supposed) got pregnant to get an abortion. They say this has ruined his career. This remix is the only one I've heard that gives Cheb Mami's contribution to this song enough strength on his vocals. The others have him way, way in the background, barely audible.
