Hi! The movie you're referring to it's "It happened in Athens", filmed in 1962. It's not about Dorando Pietri though, but Spiridon Louis, the greek peasant that ran (and won) the marathon at the first modern Olympic Games, in Athens 1896.
Hi! Yes, he absolutely is and not only in Carpi! This autumn in Italy on Rai Uno we will be also able to see the film! And in 2008, 100 years after the day he run and "lost" the Olympic Games, Mr Campedelli (Mayor of Carpi) was invited by Queen Elizabeth in London to meet her and remember that day!
