Although I loved Ms.Fleming's voice at this point in time, I am not pleased with the "cutesy" touch on the part of the director with trotting he real-life daughter into the scene. The Count &his wife have no children, although by the 3rd book, Rosina has a son by Cherubino, whom she passes off as the Count's, while the Count has had his own illegitimate daughter living under their roof as his "ward", Yes, it looked sweet, but.. Ah well..
Sorry, I gave you incorrect info. There WAS a 3rd opera written. It was written by Jules Massenet in 1905 and is entitled "Cherubin" (he used the French spelling) and is based upon In the infrequently performed third play of the trilogy, "La mere coupable" ("The Guilty Mother").
The opera, "Cherubin" with music by Massenet is quite different from the Beumarchais' third book of the trio, which he entitled, " La mere coupable, ou L'autre Tartuffe". The opera takes place while Cherubino is still 17 and "courting the ladies while he's in the army". It's a light and fluffy piece with some really lovely music in it. Did you like the performance?
Thank you for this beautiful aria. You gave singers name for everyone except for the beautiful Countess. What is this singer's name, please? Thank you again :)
I am teaching an Academic decathlon team in High School and the subject is French Revolution. Mozart- Beaumarchais and da Pont with this Opera (specif Consa Sento) is part of it. Thanyou so very much for uploading this - my culture is extremelt improved.
For the record, this very same production (by Jonathan Miller) was first unveiled in Vienna's Theater an der Wien in May of 1991 with this splendid cast. It was released on video by SONY and is now long overdue for rerelease on DVD.
currently writing an essy on this opera .. im not impressed i hope it dosent ruin the opera for me !!

Was there ever an opera written of the Third Figaro?
Loismustdie26 1 year ago
Not as of now! The subject matter is so "different" when compared to the other two, that I'm not sure if it would be well received....

Are you sure? I saw the performance of 'Cherubin' at the Guildhall two days ago and that's not what happened...

@suzanneetmoi BTW, the 3rd book was also made into an opera ( in the 1960's), but the subject matter was not as pleasant as that of "Cherubin".

@suzanneetmoi
ahh that makes sense.
i actually really enjoyed it, i just thought it was a shame it's really performed in the U.K or anywhere at all really.
Reminded me a lot of the marriage of figaro in some aspects although there's only three original characters in the production.
