Awesome! Its time for a new 12" speaker in my '65 ampeg gemini 1 that was just recapped and re-tubed. This video just about settles the speaker debate for me. Tone Tubby it is...
About gear: I'm a gearhead who's spent decades experimenting & inventing in my studio & workshop. None of that guitars electronics are anything or any model that's ever been on the market before, but those saying P90 are closest to the ball park (yet still a fair way off).
I was at a different booth when William suggested I meet the Tone Tubby guys & try their gear, so walked over with just my guitar, shook hands & (will continue)
...continued ..had been plugged into their gear for 30 seconds when William said "play a tune from start to finish & whipped out his cam-corder. I played sleepwalk which is slow enough to dial in the sound while playing, but by the end still hadn't figured how to reduce the distortion & feedback on his line 6 echo because it didn't have normally labeled controls for feedback, mix, delay time etc.. Anyway, for what it's worth, I thought his amps & the Tone Tubby speakers were great. Cheers, rob
Does this guitar have P90's I haven't seen a response yet and am dying to know, this is the best sounding les paul iv'e ever heard and considering its through just the camera im sure it sounded even better. also were these the alnico or ceramics?
@godbyone , Great choice! One of the sisters to that amp will be listed on ebay in a week. My name is Ampoholic on ebay. The one in this clip is a tweed Super as is the one being sold. WIlliam Odell
I would say yes, but you should call the boys at Tone-Tubby. I am an amp builder who likes their speakers, and have displayed my amps in their NAMM booth for demo.
Great to hear Rob play again after many years...I played bass at that gig in Lake Bolac (amongst a few others with Rob). Fantastic player and a great guy too. Something of a musical mentor to yours truly as well.
I saw Rob play a few one off gigs in a small pub in one horse town called Lake Bolac Victoria, Australia, where some relatives of his live. Awesome player. I will never forget how he played Peter Gun on that bigsby Les Paul!
Oz, I was just visiting Rob today. He was playing this same Les Paul into a cool Valco amp at home. In this clip he is playing an amp that I built.I would love to have a copy of the "Theory" stuff. That was long before I knew him.
I've uploaded more Rob Mackenzie guitar solo tracks on my channel ... FYI, Rob recorded 2 guitar albums and was the first rock musician to receive an Australian Gov't music grant prior to leaving Melbourne with his guitar in 1974 aged 25. He then lived and played in London, France, and then US, where he has lived in L.A. for the past 20 years.
Sounds damn sweet!

Hey Bill!
Thanks for the reply!
Cool sounding amps, you know your stuff man!
Great sounds!
Has Rob got a copy of his "Theory" days albums?
If so, get him to play "Out of the Blue" from the "Out of the Blue" album, from his theory days for you!
So much music packed into that tune!
Every kind in fact!
Cheers mate.

He normally uses a mix of reverb and digital delay, but I think he was using my rig that day.
