@hapi3rd I do not know where you get your history from, but the U.S. Owned the war in the air. The only real American challenge (for fighter pilots) was WW2 and the Germans, although there has been incidents with Russian or Korean aircraft.
@TheResistanceofman I got it from an American documentary film on the "Vietnam War" (they also call it "The 10000 days War", Longest War in American History) I saw on American TV with my Dad in Canoga Park/California around 1989-1990 (> 20 years ago) (I think it was a film compiled by PBS, TIME Magazine, History Channel... & the US Military of course)!
@hapi3rd Its no longer the longest anymore, we are going on 11 years in the middle east now. As far as I knew the NVA had no air, but did have sam sites. Which knock out planes all the time.

From the standpoint of having 2 military brothers, I would love to agree with you on this.
However from the words of the mouth of my own brother, who is a F-18 pilot, that is just not true anymore. We may indeed have the best trained pilots in the world, but china has over 30,000 5th generation fighter craft in operation. These are on par with the JSF (F-35) and are 3 to 2 capable of engaging the F-22. No matter how bad their pilots may be, they swarm any Airforce they can reach.
Perhaps it is a phrase that works in school, but in real life that rhetoric does not work.

@hapi3rd I do not know where you get your history from, but the U.S. Owned the war in the air. The only real American challenge (for fighter pilots) was WW2 and the Germans, although there has been incidents with Russian or Korean aircraft.

@TheResistanceofman I got it from an American documentary film on the "Vietnam War" (they also call it "The 10000 days War", Longest War in American History) I saw on American TV with my Dad in Canoga Park/California around 1989-1990 (> 20 years ago) (I think it was a film compiled by PBS, TIME Magazine, History Channel... & the US Military of course)!

@roeetsabari Know that war competitions between different countries have mixed results when the "rules" do not allow certain technical advantages or certain tactics and that the results can be somewhat misleading.
So do not personally think that the ratio of 60:01 is corect, but believe that Israel has a better air defenses if you compete on even terms, maybe the best.
And I do not believe that Israel today has the same superiority they had in the past wars, the neighbors have become stronger.

From the standpoint of having 2 military brothers, I would love to agree with you on this.
However from the words of the mouth of my own brother, who is a F-18 pilot, that is just not true anymore. We may indeed have the best trained pilots in the world, but china has over 30,000 5th generation fighter craft in operation. These are on par with the JSF (F-35) and are 3 to 2 capable of engaging the F-22. No matter how bad their pilots may be, they swarm any Airforce they can reach.

I am not one bit surprised. soldiers are of a different breed then civilians and specially for a fighter pilot its very possible to do what he is doing at his age. Their is a lot of techonology in jets and as far as G forces goes, his body is now use to it after flying for decades. If you remember clearly the history of Hamas, they are not altar-boys. Many times they sponsored suicide attacks, some sending a peace process to a grinding halt minutes before it's success (Netanya Bombing of 2002).

As far as I am concerned, Israel is a recognized country and got the right of self-defense towards it's enemies, foreign and domestic. On these premises, the actions of israel are legal.
Did it went overboard, of course. I can't deny that.
Israel is under constant assault from their Muslim neighbors and various sponsored terrorist groups since 1948. Full scale invasion, asymmetrical warfare and since bombing tactics have been tented against Israel, and they all failed.
There's only one left.

One of my favorite spiritual leader, Ghandi, defeated a world-power with only one weapon; pacific resistance. he successfully achieved the independence of India without using a single bullet.
Right now, Israel don't need to seek very far to validate any air raid against the palestinian people; A single Kasam rocket fired from the Gaza Strip is enough.
How they would react if the palestinians started to wall all the crossing points but from the Palestine's side?

Regardless what they says, Israel need the Palestinian workforce. By simply refusing to work in the Hebrew state, Palestinians can do much more damage than any military assault launched to date.
There's always a way to fight and to win if you are ready to pay the price. If it is their desire, Palestinians can fight without drawing the sword. I doubt they would but I think it's their best option right now.

To the Contrary!...Israel may have the right to self-defense, but they have abused this right. Their actions are NOT legal. They have not followed UN laws (65 against Israel's Occupation of Palestine).
Plus, who can a country not succeed when you are being sponsored by the U.S. (6.8 million $ per DAY, yes DAY.) What's going on with the occupation is insane, on both parts, but mostly Israel.

True, some of their actions are quite dubious. On the other side, remember that most Terrorist groups operating against Israel don't have any rules of engagement.
Israel is fighting against asymmetrical warfare the only effective way; hurting the opposing side tenfold. As far as I am concerned, they are winning on that side.
About the US, please remember that the USSR financed and equipped the groups and countries opposing Israel. Outside influence by superpowers is not new.

You wont find one house in Gaza that hasn't been shot at, the goal of Israel is to (hard to say)...Genocide...ethical cleansing...
Plus, look at the West Bank. Israel has built over 200 settlements (destroying thousands of Palestinian homes) strategically. Each connected by a road that Palestinians are not even allowed to TOUCH. How sad...

When Gaza was returned to the palestinians, they elected Hamas as their Leaders. So, by vote, they accepted their charter claiming the destruction of Israel.
If we add the Kazam rockets launched from the Gaza Strip, 200 a week in their best times, It is not difficult to see why israel is not ready to conciliate.
This whole situation is messed-up but i do believe that the first one who will yield will win. Do the Palestinians are ready to do so?

yes, it's true that Gaza elected Hamas after almost 40 years of the same-old Occupation. But if you knew what Hamas stands for, you would know that the ultimate goal is to created their own Palestinian State. I think it is almost impossible now for anyone to think that Israel is goiong to be wiped off the map (especially with the help with US).

You can't be a "Spiritual Leader" of a terrorist group and ignoring the Hamas Charter who glorify murder and genocide.
