@lushescape18 I don't disagree with you. Whenever something goes mainstream, it kills the spirit of the style, for example: hip hop and rap. But luckily since the music industry is too busy dealing with talentless cross dressing singers and auto-tuning stuff to death, we have no worries. :)
@LesediLoFi PLENTY of awesome bands have come from LA since "the hair metal phase"................. i mean there's been enough time.......... the fuck, 25-30 years? you're trying to say that NOTHING that has come out of LA in that time has been worthy of respect?
They have the weirdest transitions in all their music, the first album (pikul) is nothing like Carnavas (their second album) and then you have swoon, even more different then both of them! and yet silversun pickups manages to make it work perfectly (unlike some bands I know that have tried changing so much and FAILED EPIC!!!)
@silversunned, I love Silversun Pickups, and I have all their albums, but I have to disagree with your comment a bit. Saying each of their albums is nothing like the others is not too accurate. I don't think they are all the same by any means, but they have kept the same sound throughout the three albums. There is nothing bad about that, because it is their sound; it is unique and they do it well. In composition their are similarities between Kissing families and Lazy Eye. Love this band though.
yeah you're on the right track advil - brian has even said that swoon was an extension of carnavas. can't remember the interview, but it was cool how he said it... something like, they wanted to explore the tone of carnavas even more, so they got a 16 piece orchestra to just completely wring out that sound and see how far they could take it with swoon- (pure success imo).... but yeah i think i also remember brian sayin that they've taken it to the limit, so i'm dyingg to hear some new shit.
lemme go and roll a spliffy to this joint which warms me, coupled with a glass of wine in one hand, and in the other, a steady hand awaiting for it, the book smart devil, who claims to not exist but will soon and inevitably, meet its maker...enjoy!
Call me selfish, but I don't want Pickups to hit the media fan...I want to keep them for myself. >:D
