Wow. I hate to hear that he's had so many health issues. I've always considered Hal one of the best song writers in country music. He has a knack for writing songs that evoke strong emotional responses. This is one of them.
I always loved this song, Hal must be a helluva guy, after all, he's riding a Triumph Bonneville ! I was not aware of his health issues posted by Johnny hazzard in this forum, I hope hes fine and healthy these days.
@johnnyHazzard Hal released his last album in 2008. In June 1998, Ketchum was diagnosed with a neurological disorder called Acute Transverse Myelitis, an ailment of the spinal column, which left Ketchum without the use of the left side of his body. He had to relearn basic tasks, including how to walk and play the guitar. He has since been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, which his mother died of. (Wikipedia)
I was a jock in Country Music when this song came out. I was also going through a rough break up. This song captured all I was feeling back then. Thank you for posting! It's a great song, and he is a stupendous artist. :)
Mick Hanly was right. I HATE it when I put messages on folks' answerin' machines, and they never get back to me. Hal hit #2 in Billboard, 5-9-92. God bless!
Thank you for posting this video!!!! I've been searching for this video. I saw it on TV about 20 years ago!! I love this song, brings back a fond memory.

Hal Ketchum, love his music. I want to say, why didn't he last; but I think he would have gotten lost in all the garbage put out these days.
