@billmaa Bwahahaha. I totally agree with you Billy. I really really like my '03 VFR but I can't believe what they've done to the new ones. This jbbbda person obviously does not watch your channel at all, and has no idea how much of a VFR fan you are. Oh well, her loss.

I owned a 96 VFR for 15000 miles, an FZ1 for 6000, four Nighthawks for another 20000 so saying I am a non rider is a bit much. I simply mean that you start off talking about your riding gear and then get into being so negative about a bike you have not even owned yet. I myself was very dissapointed with the VFR1200. Cam chains? we all know how poor hondas history is with cam chains and tensioners. I will just keep my 99 VFR800 until Honda wises up and brings back the gear driven cams and a true VFR sportbike.
I agree, the new VFR is Ugly, I have an 05 Interceptor is way much better looking,200 plus miles per thank, when the new model is only 33 MPG; Didn't like the headlights, too much electronics and way too expensive 16k, ABS model 18k. The only thing that I like of the new VFR is the driveshaft

I respectfully disagree. Yes the exhaust is somewhat strange in design. I like it is a great looking bike. Problem with the new VFR is the hard bags are options. When you shell out the cash for the options to make it a sport tourer, might as well get the ST, which in my opinion is the better touring bike.
@billmaa its got a bigger layout smooth lines just a bigger smooth riding bike.
They had to cater to a more longer easier on the body sporty heavier cruiser. I dont hate it,but if I couldnt be on my 360 lb Bimota canyon carver , this with my wife on the back would be a great alternative.
That exhaust ,you have to fill a large space with something thats fits, cant put a skimpy little tube like pipe on that big rear of the bike Price isnt cheap, but you might as well keep this smooth cruiser awhile
You know what the funniest part will be???? You know every new Porsche 911 that comes out.... the owners of previous models HATE it, then a new set of owners who HATE the next one etc etc.... its actually called getting old, lol
Would be great if you could get one for say 6 months and then discuss your feeling then. But then whos crazier than me? Had a nice 2009 Triumph Sprint, and traded for a Triumph Roadster, and love it!
Well I have to agree a little bit with the Billmaa.
At first I loved the concept of an auto bike, I hate to change gears I actually use a Burgman 400 and wanted soo much to go sport but had not option until the VFR1200. Then it came out and I got very frustrated with the design, not so frustrated as Billmaa and I can actually find it a bit pretty, but I have to agree, Honda designers made a crap job on this one. I will waint one more year, perhaps the VFR1200T will be better.
I have to say this man.. I Love VFRs... until the new one arrived.. it totally turned me off and lost my interest 100%... I'd go for the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 if you needed more power for Sports Touring..
We all thought is was going to be something else I have been waiting for the Blackbird replacement for years - However if you are a VFR Interceptor rider you have to try this bike its awesome and not just for an hour get the dealer to let you haver it for a morning or a day. You will be impressed its extremely fast and more of a sports bike than you think. The looks grow on you mine is sitting in the Garage next to VFR 800Fi, Blackbird and Pan 1300 and its the best looking of the 4 of them.
While I can understand that you don't like the appearance of the bike. That's a personal choice. But please don't call the bike a POS. It is very weird looking, I'll give you that. But in typical Honda fashion, the bikes I've looked at are as close to flawlessly built as you're likely to get in an under $20K (US Dollars) machine.
The VFR 1200F is an amazing bike. If you would actually stop and take a look at the technology that went into the bike you would fully understand why the VFR looks the way it does. You need to also relax as I don't really care if you think it's ugly... if you hate it so much don't buy it...that way there is more for us normal people to enjoy! :)
@billmaa LMAO...what kind of moron buys a high dollar bike that he hates from the get go? You deserve a darwin award. By the way...I have some swamp land for sale...:)
@mobdeadmeat I'm glad you got a laugh outta this, but I think you misunderstood, I didn't buy the bike...I was saving up to buy it...and when the press release came out I decided not to...The bike the video is my trusty gen 5 VFR which I've owned for almost 7 years =)
I had the rare 'Sod's Law" thing today in Sydney's Curtin Lane where my red 800Fi was parked next to a candy red 800 VTEC and a brand new 1200 in a deep red. I liked the VTEC but the 1200 looked dismal, really dismal! Even worse than the original BMW K1200, and that is a big call! No doubt it runs great but with looks like that it will be a rare beast.
Hey, don't hate on the Concours 14! (not that you were) It's a killer bike! 156horsepower goes a long way towards passing semis uphill. I've told you already, but I've just ridden mine from Louisiana up to Washington! At least take it for a ride. Hell, I'll stop by and we can trade for a bit. I got to ride an '05 VFR on my way back from Austin one time and OH MY GOD it is one of my favorite bikes ever. Especially in black. A lot more damn fun than my 700lb Kawa!
@HeelNToeMotorsports I have an '05 ZX-12R which is somewhere along the same bloodlines as the Concours...I was supposed to test drive a Concours a few weeks ago ust because, but I overslept...I'm sure its a great bike =)
@jamo2006 I have to agree with you my friend, it's not a POS.. It's a honda..lol, the thing is about as high tech as bikes get.. Prolly destroy my old girl in every performance catagory there is.. I simply find that is visually one of the worse bikes I've ever laid eyes on
Billy you know me.... I liked the bug eyed 1000 and yeah I like the ne VFR, I agree about the exhaust.... it needs a a rocket can on it but I love the head light... And Billy I didnt know you spoke like that....LOL....
Well I guess I was looking for a review of the bike. I'm not sure what your subscribers have subscribed to you for, if this is it then ok I guess. On the flip side you never said it was a review. Do you review motorcycles or...... well what do you do?
"Trolling"? I just searched for the 2010 VFR and your video came up. I don't know anything about your subscribers. But I would have liked to know about the bike. My VFR 800 was one of my all-time favorite bikes. And as far as the tranny is concerned my understanding is that it has a manual mode and a sport mode that is very close. I'm like you, I wanted a bigger version of my 800. Looks aside I don't know if this is it or not.
OK. You don't like the looks of the bike. That would take one sentence to explain. But what about the performance, handling, the trick transmission, the 135 horsepower? I don't care what you're wearing. I'd like to hear your report on actually riding the bike. Your bad.
@billdobb First of all....It's your bad for trolling..No one was forcing you to watch the video. I make my videos for my subscribers...not for you..trick transmission? you mean the automatic transmission? for guys that are too lazy to actually ride a motorcycle? that is a fancy option all right...
I had the same opinion you did when I first saw the pics. Then I thought "Maybe it looks better in person." However, I saw one in a dealership the other day and it truly is a hideous looking bike.
dont blame you for being negative, i think you being a huge fan of the series felt betrayed to a point of not highlighting the technical brilliance of the new vfr....why did they screw it up when it could have been perfect...love hate relationships cannot avoid pain....hope honda sees this and wake up...stop trying 'brave' things that are obviously not working... absolutely love the double clutch system though
@TheTurtlePawner I think yamaha wanted to go with that "concept bike" thing to compete with the suzuki "B-king" is has alot crazy stuff going on with it's styling
I personally think they should have left most of the styling alone, and simply updated the front end but leavign the headlight and side edges as they are but more up to date. its deffinately a design that makes me WANT to NOT buy it. which is a shame as the tech etc is therew and has high praise from a lot but the design is a downer
Billmaa, I know this is an old video, I was trying to see if I had missed any of your world class productions. Obviously you have an intense dislike for the subject Honda. I am xtremely hurt that it seems I must buy one to be PC. "Something that a 70 year old man would ride", really hurts, because I love my Sporty, and the most admired rider in my small world says I need a fugly bike! Older guys like sweet lines/curves too. J/K ya Billy!
i thought the new vfr looked pretty cool, i would replace the shitty ass pipe on it of course, and smash the headlight out, but the tank looks awesome, and so do the front shroudes.
I think its great looking. I have an 02 and the new one makes it look like a bag of smashed assholes. I find a lot of guys who ride pre 02 vfrs dont like anything but what they are riding. You can hate it, you are the only one losing out .
Believe me, the VFR1200 is the best bike I've ever ridden, don't give too much importance to the looks ;). I'll give you something, I also don't like the exhaust design, but it must be there for some reason heheh ;)
I'm a long time VFR fan going back to '83 when I got the first Interceptor. I'm as frustrated as you over that Battlestar Galactica looking pig. But I have to ask, why even have a sportbike in Omaha in the first place? You're at least 5 hours away from any good roads and about the same to the nearest track day. Throw in the shitty weather and I can't think of a worse place to live. That's gotta suck!
@BRKNtibia we have a track about 20 minutes from my house.. There are nice roads over the river in the Iowa hills.. But for the most part, I agree it's not sportbike friendly.. But it still beats riding a cruiser :)
Clearly you rense of aesthetics is a bit off, because its one of the fastest selling bikes in the world - and I reckon it looks great! And it will grow on you and eventually you will like it but you can't buy one because you have mouthed off too soon, dumbass...
@downshift83 Hahaha, The video I just posted tonight, I edited out a downshift moment I had with a dumbass who couldn't get the "go around " hand motion...I should've left it in and prolly would've gotten twice the views....=)
@HuckFoly Haha, your user name had me wondering if my dyslexia was acting up...great handle..All I can say is that I'm jealous, because I really want to love this bike, but I just cant do it...Small world...Thanks for the comment..
I think if a person cleaned up/eliminated the rear fender, painted the muffler black, put on a tinted winshield and mabey did something with the headlight it would look ok. The spec sheet definitely looks better than the bike though.
dude, you're absolutely right. The new VFR1200 looks like shit. The headlight, the exhaust, the overal body of the bike... rotfl. We'll see how it sells.
Seriously. . . WTF?! Dude, I love the fact that you're passionate about the VFR800 but you sound more than a little envious of the 1200F. Don't do reviews for a living though bro, a single adjective is never enough.
I have a vfr 800 vtec took out a vfr n1200 the other day. Really upset with what i got! Jesus wjho can beat a vfr 750 and 800? The 800 Vtec is much better and looks much better.
I had my 'bird for 8 years and sadly, the new VFR 1200 does nothing for me at an emotional level, despite it being a superb bit of engineering. I now ride a new Street Triple and love it to bits!!
I hope that the 1200 isn't a lemon and finds a good following though.
i dunno im not gonna lie i really kinda like it. I think the way the back is smaller makes it look very sporty and smooth though the headlight is a lil wierd its at least different. I dunno tho haha.
I saw one in 'real life' and I must say that is true, it's much better in live (before that I had had the same opinion, it seemed too big and similar to some BMW, but it's not that way at all).
I could move it (without start the engine) a little and it seem lighter than my RC-36 (curious thing, my VFR is about 30 kilos lighter), I supose that the gravity center of the bike must be very near to the ground.
Try to see it in live, maybe you'll change your mind.
Normally, I would answer this respectfully..but since you've began this volley with a derogatory adjective...I will respond in kind...You are retarded... I ride A VFR800, not the 1200F...so cowboy, read a flipping book, magazine, or maybe ask a friend for help identifying motorcycles before you come trolling along.. for the record, crap, cowardly comments like this are a true example of being pathetic ..thanks for your time..
When I the original photos I had a similar reaction. Damn ugly bike. I saw it in person a few weeks ago and I have to admit it looks a heck of a lot better in person. It's not very photogenic for some reason but I liked it in person. There's no cure for that exhaust though. It's gotta go.
some pics look good and some look bad. I highly suggest you visit the dealership if u havent yet, might look better in person?? Haha :P. Also, how about some customization? New exhaust, paint if u really wish, look at what i found on the web images.google . com /images?gbv=2&hl=en&safe=off&q=2010+honda+vfr&sa=N&start=126&ndsp=18
Yes, I know what you mean about the CBR1200XX. - The Blackbird was a great bike and I'm disappointed that Honda hasn't come up with a replacement...but who knows what the future holds?
I kinda wish this new VFR was just a 1000cc, with shaft-drive. But I'm certain that Honda is chasing the European BMW-buying market.
I see some resemblance to the K-series, but I personally think the BMW is a much better looking bike..I think I would've been happier had the Honda marketing guys taken an inline four, made the bike and called it the CBR1200XX, or even this bike, but still kept the sexier, sportier VFR that I grew up with..(just with that 1200 engine =)
I agree the new VFR is really fugly, but so is the 2002-2009 version. I haven't been a fan since that new front end debuted, I can't believe it lasted so long.
Just returning to 'bump' my price tag comment from before. Holy yuk, I spent 8k for an 06 with 0 miles on it in 08. I know that I can shred a set of chain and sprox in one ride, but, that's a lot of dough for a shaft. Additionally, I know I can favor a more upright position and wind protection, but I can't see buying one until they come down about 5k more, lol. Here's to the sixth gen. Gotta new Pirelli Angel tire coming in today and spring is a movin in!
I don't know how to describe the new vfr either. It looks slow, sluggish, bouncy,..... i don't even know, just weird looking. It looks like a motorcycle designed for people who don't ride motorcycles. I like fast, rigid, flashy, etc looking. I don't like larger motorcycles anyway. I'd never buy something that large even if it looked cool. It's a weird sport-touring motorcycle. It even uses less cylinders when cruising. Clearly not designed for sportiness.
I think we need to invent a word for it. I really don't think you could describe that bike fully with one or two existing words. Luckily i don't have a favorite brand. I kinda lean towards yamaha though. Everybody i know who has owned a yamaha have never had any extraordinary problems, and many have said it's the best thing they've owned.
hey billy I am in complete agreement on the new VFR. To me it looks like a bigger version of the kawi versys which is also an ugly bike. also in vlog you mentioned about more power on your trips I'm planning my first big trip in May. is it prudent for me to get a larger motorcycle than a 600? i'll be carrying a lot of bags and I going through the Rockies.
I think my biggest issue with power is that I ride with my best friend who has a Busa, and in passing situations, he tends to leave me behind at times..but when I'm by myself..I can set my own pace and my bike is fine..I don't think you'll have any problems with your six..
This guy is as ignorant as I've seen on here, need I say more? Ride one douchebag, they're fantastic. Better in almost every way than last generation, which was a fantastic machine. Best compliment, this Neanderthal hates it!

The VFR 1200 is intended to compete with the BMW K1300S. If you've ridden the two, you'll know that it meets that intention perfectly.
Pictures don't do it justice, BTW. Go ride one and then see how you feel about it.
The exhaust is a travesty, though.

ManxNorton500 1 year ago
While I can understand that you don't like the appearance of the bike. That's a personal choice. But please don't call the bike a POS. It is very weird looking, I'll give you that. But in typical Honda fashion, the bikes I've looked at are as close to flawlessly built as you're likely to get in an under $20K (US Dollars) machine.
frank2398 1 year ago
The VFR 1200F is an amazing bike. If you would actually stop and take a look at the technology that went into the bike you would fully understand why the VFR looks the way it does. You need to also relax as I don't really care if you think it's ugly... if you hate it so much don't buy it...that way there is more for us normal people to enjoy! :)

Well I guess I was looking for a review of the bike. I'm not sure what your subscribers have subscribed to you for, if this is it then ok I guess. On the flip side you never said it was a review. Do you review motorcycles or...... well what do you do?

@Osindo I don't know what gave you the impression that this was a review? There are a few dozen reviews on YT of the 2010 VFR1200F
billmaa 1 year ago
Looks aside I don't know if this is it or not.
billdobb 1 year ago
OK. You don't like the looks of the bike. That would take one sentence to explain. But what about the performance, handling, the trick transmission, the 135 horsepower? I don't care what you're wearing. I'd like to hear your report on actually riding the bike. Your bad.
billdobb 1 year ago 5
@billdobb First of all....It's your bad for trolling..No one was forcing you to watch the video. I make my videos for my subscribers...not for you..trick transmission? you mean the automatic transmission? for guys that are too lazy to actually ride a motorcycle? that is a fancy option all right...

I had the same opinion you did when I first saw the pics. Then I thought "Maybe it looks better in person." However, I saw one in a dealership the other day and it truly is a hideous looking bike.
Kodiak31415 1 year ago
dont blame you for being negative, i think you being a huge fan of the series felt betrayed to a point of not highlighting the technical brilliance of the new vfr....why did they screw it up when it could have been perfect...love hate relationships cannot avoid pain....hope honda sees this and wake up...stop trying 'brave' things that are obviously not working... absolutely love the double clutch system though

@TheTurtlePawner I think yamaha wanted to go with that "concept bike" thing to compete with the suzuki "B-king" is has alot crazy stuff going on with it's styling
billmaa 1 year ago
I personally think they should have left most of the styling alone, and simply updated the front end but leavign the headlight and side edges as they are but more up to date. its deffinately a design that makes me WANT to NOT buy it. which is a shame as the tech etc is therew and has high praise from a lot but the design is a downer

Billmaa, I know this is an old video, I was trying to see if I had missed any of your world class productions. Obviously you have an intense dislike for the subject Honda.

Rainb0wSeven 2 years ago
@ Billmaa
Dude, you are soooooo wrong. The VFR1200F looks like a K-series BMW, i.e. classy.
I'm pretty sure that Honda has decided to go after the 50-year-old segment of the market.
And as for the exhaust, I agree, it's fugly, but Yoshimura will undoubtedly come up with a decent replacement.
Rainb0wSeven 2 years ago
I see some resemblance to the K-series, but I personally think the BMW is a much better looking bike..I think I would've been happier had the Honda marketing guys taken an inline four, made the bike and called it the CBR1200XX, or even this bike, but still kept the sexier, sportier VFR that I grew up with..(just with that 1200 engine =)

Clearly not designed for sportiness.
heartlesspinto 2 years ago
What do you mean you don't know how to describe it?...I think you did a perfect description! =)

Ha ha, i guess you're right. There's still some feelings i have about it that i just can't describe, though.
heartlesspinto 2 years ago
truth be told, I know that you mean..it's ugly in an unspeakable way..
billmaa 2 years ago
I think we need to invent a word for it. I really don't think you could describe that bike fully with one or two existing words. Luckily i don't have a favorite brand. I kinda lean towards yamaha though. Everybody i know who has owned a yamaha have never had any extraordinary problems, and many have said it's the best thing they've owned.
heartlesspinto 2 years ago
hey billy I am in complete agreement on the new VFR. To me it looks like a bigger version of the kawi versys which is also an ugly bike. also in vlog you mentioned about more power on your trips I'm planning my first big trip in May. is it prudent for me to get a larger motorcycle than a 600? i'll be carrying a lot of bags and I going through the Rockies.
rkrayton2000 2 years ago
I think my biggest issue with power is that I ride with my best friend who has a Busa, and in passing situations, he tends to leave me behind at times..but when I'm by myself..I can set my own pace and my bike is fine..I don't think you'll have any problems with your six..
