  • God, Chet's voice makes this song so haunting... Glad he sung the exact melody here. In different performances he often alters the melody as do other singers. I prefer it this way. Really short without any solos though.

  • まいうー

  • I loved this song from the first time I heard it, but then when I heard Chet Baker, I couldn't forget his voice, and though I like the other versions, I still return to listen to him sing this song when I need to hear it.

  • So smooth it almost sounds like a womans voice,,,,

  • My favorite rendition of this song!

  • as smooth as his trumpet...

  • NIcE !!!

  • So true.... so honest... how he performed this. Thanks for posting.

  • I love this version!!!!

  • I love this song, so romantic. If some guy wrote this for me i would melt = )

  • @harell222

    - so what - what does it matter to us now what kind of a person he was. He's dead (unfortunately) but we can still enjoy the legacy of his extraordinary talent that brought us this wonderful singing and playing :)

  • thumbs up if this song hits you in the weirdest, nicest way

  • Thank you! FINALLY!

I've been looking for this for an hour now...

  • WHY is this song so short? :(

2 minutes of pure quality, elegance and love. I mean, it's hard to find something like this nowadays. <3 But well, the only thing I can do to make it seem longer is to press "replay" again and again hahaha :P

  • @AlejandraN30 Because it would have been released as a 45 single, the maximum length of each side at that time being around 2 1/2 minutes.

  • The amazing thing is that he is a bad singer, but only if you pay attention to that. And still, this is hauntingly beautiful.

  • @TheDrluj

Not a bad singer, no. He's on pitch with a really sweet tone. His voice is not strong but then neither was Callas's. Most importantly, what makes him a good singer is his ability to put a song across, as they say.

  • His voice melts my heart. Utterly beautiful.

  • who. is. that. ONE. PERSON. who. disliked. this. ?????? @-@

i dont understand; this is like BEAUTIFUL!

  • I have read the biography of Chet Baker titled "Deep In A Dream." I have also read the autobiography of Art Pepper, saxophonist and contemporary of Chet Baker. In Pepper's autobiography titled "Straight Life," he gives a brief review of Chet Baker but refuses to use Chet's real name because of his contempt for Baker. He referred to Chet as "Billy Wilson."

  • There is not a smoother or more sensual version of this song, and amazingly, he probably does the best instrumental version as well - go figure.....

  • This haunting musical voice the perfect timing the lovely lyrics move one to the soul. When an artist reaches such a high degree in his/her art why do some people sit in judgement on the artists life?

  • Every time I listen to this song I remember the movie

( The talented Mr Ripley ) what a great song and movie

  • song gives me shivers!

  • One Word. Beautiful!

  • i love the 1950s version. i am so glad you uploaded it. all i could find beforehand was the 1980s version!

  • I have the biography of Chet Baker...great book. Chet Baker's voice was heavenly, he himself was drop-dead gorgeous, and he had talent. But after reading the biography I must say that he was a scumbag. I was really disappointed by what I read about him. Being a drug addict is one thing, and not all drug addicts are bad people, but Chet Baker was simply a scumbag.

  • @harrell222

With the great respect harrell222 that's a bit of nasty character assassination when we don't know what the hell your talking about unless we've read the book. And of course there's the other point - the book may be bullshit.

  • @toddmeister168 Then get off youtube and read the book.

  • :')

  • thanks so much for uploading this. There are ton out there that are only instrumental or they are pieces of him singing the song in the 80s. I love the early versions of this in the 50s! Thank you very much!

  • Most beautiful male voice I've ever heard. God was he hot in his day.

  • Fantastic musician, voice like an angel, and oh, nearly forgot. Looks like the coolest film star ever. What a package. Amazing that he didn't sing more. Used to have a version of him singing Every Time We Say Goodbye and it was heartbreaking. Awesome.

  • 224:0. That says it all.

  • It is the best vocal version - also check out the Miles Davis Quintet playing this on Cookin'!

  • This is probably my favourite version. His voice is incredible.

  • A friend of mine told me once (19 yrs ago) u play like Chet Baker... at that time I didnt even know who Chet was... I do now.. This is the first time I "reveal" this info... duh whatever... Chet rocks

  • Qué bonito!!! La voz de Chet Baker

convierte a esta melodía en única e inolvidable!!!

  • Great Performer!

  • this is the best version

  • that`s what i call music!

  • bonjour, hello

an other version of "my funny valentine"

  • gr8. up there with miles davis etc.

  • simply wonderful...

  • I love the way he sings this song... I love his instrumental version too, but I love the smooth yet fragile sound of his voice.

  • very very nice i m a singer that sing the same standard jazz, i hope you enjoy!

  • when chet baker sings each day is valentine's day

  • No dislikes (Y)

    How could anyone?

  • why are their so many with no singing

  • @louw123 You don't know much about Chet, huh?

  • @louw123 because he is a trumpet player...

  • finally found it..
