@behappyy2 im fourteen and ive been twirling since i was 11 and the whole time i was watching this, i thought that this was completely ridiculous. and i also think i'm a LOT better than she is xD
well i came here trying to find a way to teach a first year baton twirler this simple move....... i tried it this way and it confused her even more!! omg im not a good teacher someone pleaseeeee help me!!
This does not help lefties. I'm left-handed, and it was very hard to do it her way, let alone trying to learn it my way. I really want to get this right, because I have two months until I try out for a twirling team in June. But this video made twirling EVEN HARDER. Someone, get me a REAL coach, and please, one that's left-handed, too.
@bubblegumchick1231 i kno right, i understand she is tryin to help. she is not keepin her arm locked in the horizantial flat spins, and trust me judges look for things like that in tryouts and compitition. i am the head twirler at my school for the first time. and im gonna keep my eyes on things like that with my other twirlers
hey i watch your videos and theyve been a great help ive been a twirler through highschool and still do it alot and will try out for it in college, ive looked all over the internet for a list of fundamentals but cannot find one, is there anyone you could email me a list if you have one to katies1911@yahoo.com
if you cannot no big deal ive just looked everywhere its like it dosent exist
Everyone has different names for the same things I've heard both Head/toe Ball/tip Heavy/light. In clogging what I learned as a SINGLE someone else learned as a DOUBLE DOWN and I heard on TV the term DOUBLE TOE, and we both learned for well seasoned professional teachers. Think of all the names of a Hoggie, Hero, Sub. None of them are wrong.
I'm not trying to be a bitch but she really is making everything harder than it is. We tend to call those "over unders" and it's no more than a flip of the wrist.
The way she explains is great...I'm better at breaking it down into steps...but I can't put words to what I'm doing.
But the best way to learn is to join a troupe or find a private teacher.
ahhh! in every single one of these videos she calls the ends a "head" and a "toe". the big end is the ball, the little end its the tip. and hand over hands are supposed to roll, not be tossed. please learn how to teach things properly if you claim to be an expert. thanks :)
um im a twirling have been a while shes doing it perfectly fine, shes just slowed it down to help people see how to do it. apparently all you wanna do is get on the internet just to bi*** at someone which is what so many people tend to do on youtube when really whats the point...do your homework before you open your mouth its insulting and making nobody but yourself look bad.
@loveanmusicanguard i think 15 is not too old to learn if you put a LOT of effort into it. but if your not that serious about it, don't bother. one more thing- if you want to learn to twirl baton, DON'T WATCH THESE VIDEOS. this lady has NO idea what shes talking about.
@jollyrancher959697 where else to twirl it the right way cuz my friends mom was a feature twirler n she taught me like a cradle through the figners thing n its nothing like these videos!
@loveanmusicanguard no wayyy. i started when i was 15. im almost 17 and i am almost doing solo routines in competition. you just need to be deticated. :)
I'm with you Michelecant, some people just critisize but don't demonstrate that they can doit. Just put avideo of yourself demosntrating that you know better than her.
I'm a majorette and baton twirler and she makes the lateral twirl seem harder than it actually is...she's not really doing it right...at least I think so...there is an easier way to this and it doesn't feel akward...if your really wanna learn how to twirl a baton, i recommend you join a club! ^_~
some one that can twirl better should post a better video. with the way she twirls i dont think she can do harder stuff. have you watched Jennefer Marcus or any one that has gone to USTA nationals, Amazing what they can do!
:) yeah well idk i really hope i make it they only pick three girls each grade & im gnna be a sophmoore nxt year (freshmens arent allowed to be one) & so many girls are trying out wish me luck :)
lol I'm only saying that to be ironic... I'm American, I'm skinny, and I have crooked teeth. There's this little thing called a "logical fallacy" that occurs when an idiot tries to replace logic with crap.
All you so-called PROFESSIONAL twirlers...GIVE HER A BREAK! This is a very informative clip for peeps that are learning!! Why all the hate?? Oh yeah, you're Americans. :(
We're not idiots--we know it's allowed to call something whatever you want it to be called. What's important is that you should know both ends are different. You should know basics. The woman in the video does not know how to teach or even twirl baton properly, and it is clearer in some of her other videos. Stop taking things down a slippery slope. It's not ridiculous to correct someone on youtube.
I watched my sister practicing these moves a lot growing up. Many terms change over time, head/tow or ball/tip, those are largely generational terms. Many techniques have evolved over the years. When you see these moves performed after a lot of practice, you wonder how did she do that? What is consider bad style today was considered best practice 20 years ago. What can be done today was not even considered doable back then.
tammygurl630 is so right it is called 2 hand spins and then it is not head to toe it is ball(what you are saying head)and tip(what you are saying toe)trust me I am a twirler
Even more annoying are people that make claims and don't back them up in any way. There is no point saying that this woman is "fake" if you don't say *what* is fake in what she does and *why* she is. Comments like this are so useless they tend to provoke an opposite reaction; that is, *you* are fake.
@michelecant I think they are trying to make the point that some of the things she is teaching is not the correct technique or name. I don't think they are trying to be rude or anything.
Thank you so much for making these videos! I'm in a high school colorguard and I've been in guard since the 6th grade and I want to learn baton soo much, but when I asked my guard coach if I could learn she got mad and said "No! I hate batons!" it really crushed me so I'm going to learn on my own. Thank you so much for making helpful videos!
This was completely wrong, you roll the baton over your thumb, cross your other hand over at the wrist and let it fall into your other hand. Turn the wrist back so the back of your hands are facing the top, then do it again. And no I'm not jealous, I've been twirling for years and can tell you this lady is no expert.
Thank You! This really helped me get the basic spin. I'm learning, and hoping to join a fire tribe that my brother and cousin and good friends started. :)<3
good luck with this, bit if u have experience in baton, make so difficult videos, bc most did learn that the first few months of baton, i did about 5 years ago
