I fully support your choice to being a vegan, but a lot of research shows that the lower your cholesterol levels are, the MORE susceptible you are to a heart attack. The reason is because cholesterol is released by the liver to help fight off the damaging inflammation caused by a diet high in processed and sugary foods. Oddly enough, the more you take in from your diet, the less your liver has to make. Cholesterol is not the enemy, it's what mankind has done to it.
Why am I vegan? Used to suffer from really bad acid reflux. Also, meat contains a lot of antibiotics, bacteria, uric acid, etc. Milk has pus, possible bovine luekemia virus, cancer causing hormone IGF-1, etc. Fish has mercury, eggs may have salmonella. The list goes on and on.
lol did becoming vegan drop your testosterone levels to 0? every time you swallow your boyfriends cum your killing baby's you faggot. but for reals yo, you are being very 1-sided. i don't make vegans feel guilty, so you shouldn't make meat-eaters feel guilty. everyones different. deal with it.
@steffenhagen69 Testosterone has nothing to do with meat consumption. Testosterone drops when you undereat. You can be vegan and eat a lot and still have very good testosterone levels.
this is what u get when an entire generation of men is raised by women a bunch touchy feely fags to afraid of killing their own food. u went from one extreme to the other. that sounds like a smart plan. im sure u know ur body needs cholesterol right?
yes, it is disgusting, but there is a better way to advocate/educate than put folks down. btw, when i signed up free peta materials, i never got them. i had to email someone.
i know why your a vegan because your a fuck! i think the beans and bean shit (tofu) got to your brain. hey you bash meat eaters, you dish it out man, can you take it?
you are the kind of vegan i hate. stop making meat eaters feel bad for eating meat- they are simply doing what they think is right, just as you are doing what you think is right... if you are going to present information, dont judge other people, especially dont make them feel bad for simply not being aware. I am trying to be a vegetarian because of the health benefits. simple.
And yes, they do feel pain as we do. I am majoring in biology & nutrition... cows have same bodily systems as humans. They have as many or more receptors for touch & pain as we do.
Do you know why you can't eat me as food? Because I won't fucking let you. Just try. Cows are too brainless to stand up and say something to my fucking face. They won't stand up for there "rights." They're too brainless.
You see, cows don't have rights, cow's won't understand rights. If we, for instance, gave them laws, would they follow them? As Penn and Teller said, they'd be shitting and crapping all over the place.
Exploiting sounds like a strong word, but you exploit plants, everything you can get your hands on in life. There's different ways you actually "exploit", and as for hurting the cows, once again, they don't feel pain as we do.
[commentlimit] So, I could basically argue the same with plants.
I use plants for food, but do I kill the plants? No. Picking the fruit off a plant does not kill it, it makes it stronger. The vegetables I eat are self propagating, whether they have lateral stems, rhizomes, roots, they regrow or continue to grow.
Babies don't follow rules, because theyre too young to understand. A cow doesn't have the intelligence to understand a lot of things. Does that mean we shouldn't protect lower intelligent lifeforms? No, I don't see how that works.
The plant doesn't die, but the particular cells on the fruit do die.
Why do we farm cows? So we can have them mate, and produce quality cows, same with plants. Babies are a bad comparison, they grow, and develop thought. Why should we protect farm cows anyways? It's something farmed by people, and there will be much of it to go around.
If you have to ask, why should we care or protect, I doubt you'll ever understand. It's this thing called compassion and understanding. It's a very basic trait that all human beings should have. Cows are vegetarian & helpless with humans... anything that has a higher position of power has a responsibility to protect people/animals/anything in a lower position of power.
Sure we do! But not to all things. How do you know cows feel the same emotion as humans? They have different brains. I don't have any compassion to any animal without at least some proper thought. We were not all created equally. And it's our natural, biological right to kill and eat animals. Hell, you could even be a cannibal, only do it under the proper terms (such as tribal; eating the dead to "absorb power", etc.) .
I didnt say they have exactly the same emotions as humans, but they have the same bodily systems as us and a more than adequate nervous system to experience pain just as a human does. They also feel fear as a human does. Youre delusional. No human has a 'biological right' to torture and abuse animals. But I am done with this conversation because your god is obviously yourself & you don't have any worthwhile morals
Biological right? Well, yes, the food chain agrees with my stomach, I'm going to go eat what I properly can and want. Also, please define "morals", because there is no "proper behaviour" I don't have a belief in any god, anyone who does is more delusional than a vegetarian or me. If ending an animals life "humanely", would that be acceptable to you? We dominate animals because we can. Do you think animals that kill other meat are wrong? They don't have morals, they don't have rights. [limit]
Why not educate people instead of being abrasive about it?
When I think of animal slaughter, I think of them being hung upside down, alive, conscious, and having their throats slit after which they are allowed to bleed out until they are no longer alive. I find that method ugly. If that's not what goes down, please do educate me!
As for killing plants... They have no nervous system, lol
Huh, so you think and hold an idea even if conflict with the fact and want to argue it ?
No dude, this is wrong. and not how "normal" people slaughter animals. I am not at McDonalds stores or KFC chicken slaughterhouse. and to be frank, yes I have seen people skinning the animal alife, however you cant generalize this.
"As for killing plants... They have no nervous system, lol"
there you talk in an arrogant and bias way, because you care to what you sense. and not what they sense, because no way you can understand how they sense, nor how I as a human does.
so basically as a human u think nervous system is only what makes you feel. But for an animal, they feel, and sense.
Many plants that we eat, when it comes to the sun facing their side, they switch their direction or vers versa.
and if you thinks its all about nervous system I would drug the animals to fall unconscious so no feelings at all, and while they are sleeping I slaughter them , is this o.k ? Because now they are similar to what we hold as the idea of sensation in our perspective about others, no nervous system, no feeling.
Actually, there are two types of cholesterol. The majority of cholesterol that you obtain through eating meat is bad cholesterol, not the good kind. Eggs are a great source of good cholestrol
It is true that some animals are bred purely for their meat. At the same time, there are quite a lot of house pigs -- they are smarter than dogs.
When we eat high fat content (like some meats), poop floats and stinks more. Vegans are not exempt from eating poor food choices, though.
you say veganism is so much healthier when you need fortified supplements and artificial nutrients to get calcium, vitamin D, and B12. just because you're eating less cholesterol and fat, doesn't mean you are "healthier". you are healthier in some senses, but less healthy because you can't get nutrients that are only found in animals.
Calcium is available in many plants and green vegetables, why'd you even mention Vitamin D? Lol just going outside for 10 minutes solves this problem. B12 is the ONLY exception, and assuming we take supplements daily, or find fortified foods, we still get it, and probably in excess. If you assume that every single omnivore focuses on all the nutrients they need, then yes, they are healthier, but that doesn't seem to be the case. We still get what we need, and that's what's important =)
WROOOOOOONG!!!! calcium. vitamin D is easilly covere with food such as soy in all its different forms, and grains wholeweed and legumes and nuts and seeds cover a lot of the B-Vitamins. The only one i will admit to is Vitamin B12 but the funny thing is that the ppl who dont have it are mostly meateaters(being a meateater doesnt garantee u that u wont have that insufficiency plus it makes u sick on other levells.) Sour Cabbage, nutritional Yeast Flakes cover B12....
i can't believe you think that's true, you only need to go on wikipedia to find out that everything the human body needs can be found in plants and minerals.
humans are meant to eat meat since the beginning of time. people use to hunt for food. you can't get nearly as much protein from plants as you can with meat, that's why all vegans are skinny as hell and there is no professional athlete whos vegan. the way they treat the animals are terrible, however, those animals wouldn't even exist if we didn't breed them anyways. they are basically man made, bulked up on steroids. people will always eat meat. you aren't changing anything. but its ur choice
where i live they made a experiment and lived like stoneage ppl for 6 weeks. they managed without killing!!AND ITS PROOVEN THAT IN THE STONE AGE THEY ONLY COVERED LIKE 10% with hunting so its not and has never been absollutelly necessary!
I LOVE UR HAT! I WANT IT I WANT IT! WHERE DID YA GET IT?! yeah..gaveyards!! my cousins and i r writing a letter to the Congress of WI bout slaughterhouses..cuz of all the violations that are made, and nobody does anything bout it cuz they dont want to step foot in a slaughter house. GO VEGGIES!!! WOOOOOO

I love meat, its so yummy and given the circumstances i would eat any animal to survive even my cat which i love. If you are a vegan or veg. then that's fine with me. But I could never become one.
see you didn't read my quote, i said given the circumstances, i would. He's not my dinner tonight, nor will possibly ever be. And its great if your vegan. Fantastic. And sorry if i offended anyone, but I just can not change. And hello its natural, look up the evolution of man.
Buddy, even i do not have anything against you, what i had a problem with was what u said .. common man Ur pet loves you, ur all it has, in in bad times it will stick with you, it trusts you man .. and "given the circumstances" you are ready to break the trust it has had in you for so long .. LOVE and COMPASSION he a universal emotion which can never be explained by Darvin in his evolution theory. Only GOD is responsible for we having feelings love and compassion for all livin creatures..
If Darvin was to be alive today i would have bet his ass to a debate .. i can give u many references which proves him wrong .. heres one of the many references darwinconspiracy(.)com
I just feel sad, that Darvin by his research based on many assumptions which led to many conclusions has blown up the existence of God into thin air as if it were nothing ..
Hey Asswipe .. whath on earth did i say to u man ??? u Fukin caterpillar poop with a face like monkey testicles ... did ur freakin balls fall off and bounce all the way to timbaktoo when i called him SICK ??
I am vegan, I am against speciesism, however I am also against sexism. PeTA unfortunately support the notion of sexism in most of their advertising which is unfortunate so I do not support them. I don't believe in degrading one species to save another, hmm.
Thanks. Just because something relates to sexuality, that doesn't mean it's sexist, though. What may be degrading in your opinion is actually really empowering to others from what I have seen.
vegans are the best :) ive never ate an animal even since i was a baby and i never will. its disgusting. not inly for the animal rights but it looks horrible, smells horrible and like you said being vegan is much healthier!
So basically you became vegan because you had to and then went on blabbering about that to proove yourself as a sensitive, compassionate, nice guy. WOW, *APPLAUDS*
Recent vegetarian here, will be vegan when I finish a tub of butter I bought months ago.
Informative. I've researched a lot about the big three: cruelty, environment, and health, but never came across cholesterol only being from animals. Just checked it, thanks for the tip.
yes it include milk and eggs not sure about honey but the bears is the only animals and the wild that have tooth decay because of there love for honey to redeyes101.
YAY! Vegans! Im vegetarian btw. And I have formed a club for just vegans and vegetarians. It's called TheVeggieClub08. Just go to this account and join please!
you shouldest say that people who eat meat are bad people, that's ignorant. look at nature, animals get killed everyday for food. like i have nothing against people who don't eat meat, but you shouldn't be going around saying that those people are morally wrong.... that's just as bad as saying that someone of a different religion is bad.... you just sound very Ignorant.

I gotta go make some meatballs now. The secret to meatballs is you have to add parm cheese, oregano, salt, pepper, egg and water. Plus Italian bread crumbs. Fry the outside to sear it and then put them in the sauce to cook.
it's not hard! believe me. i also switched from vegetarian to vegan. there are so many dairy alternatives that are super yummy. plus, dairy cheese gives you phlegm, and for me personally, i always got headaches when i ate dairy. i don't anymore. just try it for 1 month and see how you feel. trust me, you will love it.
Thanks. I'm pretty sure I can deal with the dairy substitutes. I don't eat eggs and drink soy milk. I just need cheese alternatives and no-egg noodles.
No, Vegetarian is no meat. Vegan is no meat AND no animal products at all (no milk, no eggs, no pasta noodles made with eggs, no products where animals where used as test subjects, abuse, and murder, etc, etc)
Dude .. I do not know what you do in life .. But what do I do in Life? I do incredible things .. And what help me do those incredible things ? The Protein and Energy from Meat ..
for starters, he works for an important company and took the time to make an articulate, well-informed video that thousands of people have already watched. to me, that's pretty incredible. protein and energy don't only come from meat. i had an incredible salad with black and garbanzo beans for lunch and a tofu steak and i had energy all day. so, just open your eyes.
did you know that the liver produces about a gram of cholesterol per day?
without cholesterol, we would die.. it is essential for life
also, what if i said that in a year, the average vegetarian consumes and devoures hundreds of kilograms of innocent defenceless plants. you just crush them up in your mouth like they are nothing. do you really think they wanted to die?
Even worse, the average vegetarian is contributing to deforestation and erosion. If they won't kill the deer, moose, rabbit or wild turkey for food, thousands of old growth forests are destroyed and eroded so they can "domesticate" their plants.Sounds like a high environmental price to pay.
i mean, i don't have anything against vegans or vegetarians... it just pisses me off when they try preach to everyone about how they are morally superior to the average "meat eater," when they don't stop and think about what THEY are doing
The fact is that the united nations stated that the meat industry produces more green house gase emmisions then anything else. In that case if global warming is caused by humans it has everything to do with the meat industry. This is a high price to pay.
The meat industry contributes to deforestation far more then anything related to veganism so I don't get the point of that.
About cholesterol, VeganFreakRadio had a nutrition episode about this. Your body naturally produces cholesterol in response to certain foods. If you eat fats and simple carbohydrates (white bread, white rice, sugary things) you can actually have high cholesterol as a Vegan. These things are bad for you anyway though. I found that once I went brown/whole I couldn't go back to white.
thats why i try not to eat white bread..indeed, it is very bad for you. if a vegan knows how to eat right...he/she can be one of the healthiest ppl in the world. Im trying to go vegitarian..i got a free startup kit off of goveg. com. try it if youre interested guys!
i'm new to youtube and i was just looking at random shit ... but this clip made a lot of sense, i was veg for about 2 months, but the lack of support made it hard to stay veg.
i plan on becoming veg again asap though! wish there were more people like u in the world.
go vegan and listen to some of the vegan podcasts, and forums, if its hard to go out to eat tell them you dont have the enzymes to digest meat eggs dairy etc
Average person eats 100 animals a year?? That's an entire animal every 3.5 days or 2 animals a week. One cow yields about 500lbs of edible beef, thats 8000oz. The average burger is 5oz. That's a burger a day for the next 4 and a half years, but I eat two animals a week?? This is why no one respects vegans.
I don't think you're so naive that you believe people only eat cows? Chickens and fish are pretty popular to be consumed and that's where the bulk of this actually comes from. Again, it's an average. Fair enough?
No, it's still a ridiculous exageration. One chicken can provide five or six servings. One tuna fish can grow as large as 400lbs. Even someone who ate chicken and fish everyday wouldn't eat 100 animals a year. Most people don't eat meat everyday and many people don't eat meat ever. So in order to average 100 animals consumed per person it would mean that many people would have to be consuming 200 animals a year in order to make up for those who ate no meat.
i dont know what reality you live in (most people DO eat animals multiple times a day), but it's not the one in the United States currently, sorry you don't believe these facts.
you know, the majority of grain goes to animal production currently, so even if each person only ate 40 animals each per year in the states, the argument would be relevant. all of our plant resources are going to other animals first and then to us, and that's not efficient or economically sound.
America has more grain than it knows what to do with. If the majority of grain goes to livestock then we would be puttiing the majority of grain producers out of business with out livestock farmers to buy their product. If people stopped eating meat we would destroy two major industries. That would not be economically sound.
this is where labor-intensive organic farming comes in. and where we redirect labor to things like electric cars to get us off foreign oil. time to move forward, not cling to our backwardness.
Because our existing consumption is unsustainable. We need new technology, not just new jobs. In other areas we need to turn back the "progress" that's harming us. How about reason instead of profit for once?
instead of wasting most of it on keeping animals alive maybe we could hmmmm I don't know eat the grain? The grain industry wouldn't be destroyed. Grain is used to make numerous other food, it will however take allot of damage. Many other industries will grow though like ones that produce meat substitutes and after a while the flow of things would be better than ever.
Last thing most biological anthropologist think that our species had such a large increase in brain matter over other mammals due to our higher protein intake....So without 300K years of meat eating you vegans would most likely not have the capacity to make this or any argument.
Ah but we can make the argument now and I think that's what is important, not what we did 300K years ago.... we used to piss in the jungles, not take medicines, not attend school, etc but that doesn't mean we base our lives today on those things, right?
question. where do cows get cholesterol from? are they not "vegan" too? If animals produce cholesterol and we are indeed animals ourselves, could it be true that our bodies produce cholesterol regardless of our diet?
so the cholesterol/vegan argument is void, yes? I think the big picture here is being missed, Human Overpopulation and how to feed a compounding growth. Its true most of us in the 1st world arent hunters by necessity .A farmer now serves the corporate need,if not he goes out of business. The KFC video is only a sign of our ever growing hunger, and the ugly truths required to feed us. PETA often use 'gross out' tactics to shock folks towards their 'food politics' ,
no the argument is still very much true. while your body naturally produces cholesterol, when you take in excess amounts via animal products you tend to increase your risk of heart disease.
If eating meat is what makes brain matter increase, then why do not lions rule our planet? Higher protein intake does not necessarily mean higher meat consumption.
I am not a vegan. I am not a vegetarian. I am an omnivore. And, I am a good person. Personally I don't eat much meat maybe 2-3 meals a week. Am I a 5 times better person because I'm responsible for less "slaughters" than most? You must be a GREAT person! Ironic thing about most vegans is they are generally very open minded, liberal(a good thing), inclusive, unjudging people. Except to meat eaters. How can you accept your smelly, transvestite homeless friend and not us.
boo hoo 'ABORTED FETUSES' are dying, hey theyre gonna die no matter what so might as well put those 'ABORTED FETUSES' to some use and eat them (thats wonderful logic you dork get off the meat crack and your brain might function properly)
Hey cool an inspirartion which is exactly what I need....I appreciate what ur saying plus ur not 2 up yerself while ur saying it.. Me... I fell off the wagon and Im a lost soul cuz lost my imagination on the cooking front Im busted without a local source for at least fresh ginger coriander and Garlic(pathetic arent I! )Meat is murder bt its also a drug to some!!argghh!!
What you've said here makes total sense. Humans are the graves for dead animals. Actually educating oneself on this subject for the average human would be time consuming and would require them to actually question their own belief systems. Slowly but surely I think were headed in the right direction though. Going vegan is the only way to a cruelty free life. Rock on!
I'm not big on finger pointing, how ever, I agree with a choice to health and respect for life. I'm not the chosen judge of meat eaters. I am only responsible for what my choices are. and yes my choice is also vegan. Hats off to you.
Very nice dude. I have to agree with you (minus the fact that I'm lacto-ovo for many personal reasons) and swooncore, you seem pretty right and I agree with you (other than that I support PETA and other animal rights organizations) So yeah good job man!
No matter how many videos you watch and think are fake, the FACT is that meat is a dead corpse that's been sitting in plastic wrap for a week. You can't argue with this.
also, i wish saxon308 knew wtf he/she is talking about. Because some people CARE, there are animal-free alternative to anything you could imagine. We're not cavemen anymore, we can live cruelty-free and live the exact same life as anybody.
I've been vegan since 1994... absolutely the best decision I've ever made!

Is it only that they don't scream ??
they do sense don't they ? So, why it is appropriate while animals killing is inappropriate?
Plants breath, eat, grow and gemmate!
By the way, I slaughter animals myself, what methods that are ugly you are talking about?
What is your credibility about killing animals crudely..
Please dont show me a movie or media, becuase they want to gain money and show u what they want you to see.
CheeslessCheesburger 2 years ago
Why not educate people instead of being abrasive about it?
When I think of animal slaughter, I think of them being hung upside down, alive, conscious, and having their throats slit after which they are allowed to bleed out until they are no longer alive. I find that method ugly. If that's not what goes down, please do educate me!
As for killing plants... They have no nervous system, lol
lightmama 2 years ago
Part 1..
CheeslessCheesburger 2 years ago
Part 2 ..
CheeslessCheesburger 2 years ago
Part 3..
Again and lastly,
Plants Breath, Eat, Grow and Gemmate!
and we kill them : ) .
and if you thinks its all about nervous system I would drug the animals to fall unconscious so no feelings at all, and while they are sleeping I slaughter them , is this o.k ? Because now they are similar to what we hold as the idea of sensation in our perspective about others, no nervous system, no feeling.

for one, cholesterol is good for you, but too much can be bad so your wrong there
for the dogs and cat subject, we don't eat domesticated animals because THEIR DOMESTICATED not bred to be eaten so i suggest you be quiet.
for the nasty pooping out... GUESS WHAT?!?!?! you poop out crappy salad
bubbaownsyou 3 years ago
Actually, there are two types of cholesterol. The majority of cholesterol that you obtain through eating meat is bad cholesterol, not the good kind. Eggs are a great source of good cholestrol
It is true that some animals are bred purely for their meat. At the same time, there are quite a lot of house pigs -- they are smarter than dogs.
When we eat high fat content (like some meats), poop floats and stinks more. Vegans are not exempt from eating poor food choices, though.
lightmama 2 years ago
Veganism is alot more than just eating animals though. Alot lot more!

xrachelrenegadex 3 years ago 2
you say veganism is so much healthier when you need fortified supplements and artificial nutrients to get calcium, vitamin D, and B12. just because you're eating less cholesterol and fat, doesn't mean you are "healthier". you are healthier in some senses, but less healthy because you can't get nutrients that are only found in animals.
JMuneePro 3 years ago
Calcium is available in many plants and green vegetables, why'd you even mention Vitamin D? Lol just going outside for 10 minutes solves this problem. B12 is the ONLY exception, and assuming we take supplements daily, or find fortified foods, we still get it, and probably in excess. If you assume that every single omnivore focuses on all the nutrients they need, then yes, they are healthier, but that doesn't seem to be the case. We still get what we need, and that's what's important =)
NagevMi 3 years ago
sweetwater contain b12 the soil contain b12 poop contain b12 etc...
patrick10001 3 years ago
WROOOOOOONG!!!! calcium. vitamin D is easilly covere with food such as soy in all its different forms, and grains wholeweed and legumes and nuts and seeds cover a lot of the B-Vitamins. The only one i will admit to is Vitamin B12 but the funny thing is that the ppl who dont have it are mostly meateaters(being a meateater doesnt garantee u that u wont have that insufficiency plus it makes u sick on other levells.) Sour Cabbage, nutritional Yeast Flakes cover B12....
EmbraceAllCreation 3 years ago
i can't believe you think that's true, you only need to go on wikipedia to find out that everything the human body needs can be found in plants and minerals.
benroo89 3 years ago
humans are meant to eat meat since the beginning of time. people use to hunt for food. you can't get nearly as much protein from plants as you can with meat, that's why all vegans are skinny as hell and there is no professional athlete whos vegan. the way they treat the animals are terrible, however, those animals wouldn't even exist if we didn't breed them anyways. they are basically man made, bulked up on steroids. people will always eat meat. you aren't changing anything. but its ur choice

I gotta go make some meatballs now. The secret to meatballs is you have to add parm cheese, oregano, salt, pepper, egg and water. Plus Italian bread crumbs. Fry the outside to sear it and then put them in the sauce to cook.

did you know that the liver produces about a gram of cholesterol per day?
without cholesterol, we would die.. it is essential for life
also, what if i said that in a year, the average vegetarian consumes and devoures hundreds of kilograms of innocent defenceless plants. you just crush them up in your mouth like they are nothing. do you really think they wanted to die?
farout dude, eat or be eaten.
benwahballs182m 4 years ago
Even worse, the average vegetarian is contributing to deforestation and erosion. If they won't kill the deer, moose, rabbit or wild turkey for food, thousands of old growth forests are destroyed and eroded so they can "domesticate" their plants.Sounds like a high environmental price to pay.
namniekib 4 years ago
great point my friend.
i mean, i don't have anything against vegans or vegetarians... it just pisses me off when they try preach to everyone about how they are morally superior to the average "meat eater," when they don't stop and think about what THEY are doing
benwahballs182m 4 years ago
Can you be our king? Your words really seem logical
AltarRS 4 years ago
The fact is that the united nations stated that the meat industry produces more green house gase emmisions then anything else. In that case if global warming is caused by humans it has everything to do with the meat industry. This is a high price to pay.
The meat industry contributes to deforestation far more then anything related to veganism so I don't get the point of that.
id1337x 4 years ago 2
About cholesterol, VeganFreakRadio had a nutrition episode about this. Your body naturally produces cholesterol in response to certain foods. If you eat fats and simple carbohydrates (white bread, white rice, sugary things) you can actually have high cholesterol as a Vegan. These things are bad for you anyway though. I found that once I went brown/whole I couldn't go back to white.
teluial 4 years ago
thats why i try not to eat white bread..indeed, it is very bad for you. if a vegan knows how to eat right...he/she can be one of the healthiest ppl in the world. Im trying to go vegitarian..i got a free startup kit off of goveg. com. try it if youre interested guys!

This is why no one respects vegans.
tsycear 4 years ago
I don't think you're so naive that you believe people only eat cows? Chickens and fish are pretty popular to be consumed and that's where the bulk of this actually comes from. Again, it's an average. Fair enough?
p000 4 years ago
No, it's still a ridiculous exageration. One chicken can provide five or six servings. One tuna fish can grow as large as 400lbs. Even someone who ate chicken and fish everyday wouldn't eat 100 animals a year. Most people don't eat meat everyday and many people don't eat meat ever. So in order to average 100 animals consumed per person it would mean that many people would have to be consuming 200 animals a year in order to make up for those who ate no meat.
tsycear 4 years ago
i dont know what reality you live in (most people DO eat animals multiple times a day), but it's not the one in the United States currently, sorry you don't believe these facts.

you know, the majority of grain goes to animal production currently, so even if each person only ate 40 animals each per year in the states, the argument would be relevant. all of our plant resources are going to other animals first and then to us, and that's not efficient or economically sound.
KungFu17 4 years ago
America has more grain than it knows what to do with. If the majority of grain goes to livestock then we would be puttiing the majority of grain producers out of business with out livestock farmers to buy their product. If people stopped eating meat we would destroy two major industries. That would not be economically sound.
tsycear 4 years ago
this is where labor-intensive organic farming comes in. and where we redirect labor to things like electric cars to get us off foreign oil. time to move forward, not cling to our backwardness.
KungFu17 4 years ago
Redirect labor? Why not expand it and keep existing jobs? Organic farming is a scam for health freaks and germaphobes.
tsycear 4 years ago
Because our existing consumption is unsustainable. We need new technology, not just new jobs. In other areas we need to turn back the "progress" that's harming us. How about reason instead of profit for once?
KungFu17 4 years ago
instead of wasting most of it on keeping animals alive maybe we could hmmmm I don't know eat the grain? The grain industry wouldn't be destroyed. Grain is used to make numerous other food, it will however take allot of damage. Many other industries will grow though like ones that produce meat substitutes and after a while the flow of things would be better than ever.

Last thing most biological anthropologist think that our species had such a large increase in brain matter over other mammals due to our higher protein intake....So without 300K years of meat eating you vegans would most likely not have the capacity to make this or any argument.
richw76 4 years ago
Ah but we can make the argument now and I think that's what is important, not what we did 300K years ago.... we used to piss in the jungles, not take medicines, not attend school, etc but that doesn't mean we base our lives today on those things, right?
p000 4 years ago
question. where do cows get cholesterol from? are they not "vegan" too? If animals produce cholesterol and we are indeed animals ourselves, could it be true that our bodies produce cholesterol regardless of our diet?
jojo808 4 years ago
animals' bodies do produce cholesterol naturally, yes (including human beings).
p000 4 years ago
so the cholesterol/vegan argument is void, yes? I think the big picture here is being missed, Human Overpopulation and how to feed a compounding growth. Its true most of us in the 1st world arent hunters by necessity .A farmer now serves the corporate need,if not he goes out of business. The KFC video is only a sign of our ever growing hunger, and the ugly truths required to feed us. PETA often use 'gross out' tactics to shock folks towards their 'food politics' ,
jojo808 4 years ago
no the argument is still very much true. while your body naturally produces cholesterol, when you take in excess amounts via animal products you tend to increase your risk of heart disease.
p000 4 years ago
@richw76
If eating meat is what makes brain matter increase, then why do not lions rule our planet? Higher protein intake does not necessarily mean higher meat consumption.
Sarah2012AD 4 years ago

What you've said here makes total sense. Humans are the graves for dead animals.
