@famoussward It's quite common for the human mind to make memories seem brighter. Sometimes we know it wasn't as good as we remember it, and sometimes we really believe it was as we remember it. The Great War and the poverty seems so nice and bearable now, but back then I bet they were all thinking back to the good old times. People will always remember things brighter than they really seemed at the time, and they will always be slightly worried of the future, and of the unknown.
