This is beautiful ! I don't care that you are a man and plays the guitar instead of the Piano! Kafka on the shore is a strange beautiful book with so many hidden symbols and morals! Fx that he wrote about a greek poet who says that there isn't a "self" without an "other." But Kafka haven't got an other so he created this alter ego named Crow to be his other in order to create his self!
Sorry but when i think about this book i get carried away!
Nice, but I just can't get past a man singing it, and no piano... not really what I pictured reading the book. I pictured Miss Saeki singing like Kate Bush.
@farfarawaygirl I totally understand. However, maybe gender isnt a big issue to Kafka :-) But I do agree, would be great to hear a piano version with a Kate Bush person singing.
aw i crawl. i just finished reading thai version, and starting to read the english version. i'm so inspired. Murakami is genius. i came here cause i was wondering how the rhythm of this song would be. Ps. i still wanna hear this song by miss Saeki's voice with the right two piano chords :P
I love that book. I amn't mad about A Wild Sheep Chase (not surreal enough) or Wind-Up Bird (ditto), but Kafka on the Shore was both beautiful and strange. This song is as beautiful as I imagined it to be.
First I was like.. Nah, aint that good. But as I kept listening to it, it's amazing. It's beautiful. I am reading this book, it's twisted, but still great. I think Haruki Murakami would be proud.
It's really very beautiful song. Great chords and great performance. listening to the song, I can feel the spirit of the novel. And, the song is quite avantgarde - worth the book.
im reading this book, half of it atm, i saw that song before but didnt listen only because i like that book very much and didnt want to disapoint from this song, but i listened it and it wasnt so good as i though about it.... maybe in japanese its much :)
Hi, after i read the book i made up a melody of it in my head too, and some of the parts are actually kinda similar to yours too hehe, except that your interpretation is slightly faster
i was wondering if you could possibly send me the score? im thinking of performing this song........
It's beautiful. Listening to the Audiobook of Kafka on the Shore. The is beautiful as a open wound, bleeding in facinating patterns of subconsciense. Haruki Murakami is like van Gogh painting colours with words. This song gives me the same feeling of loss.
When I listened to the book I felt that the completed song existed "out there somewhere", it was just that Haruki Murakami had omitted to reveal the melody. However, having arrived home a few hours after listening to the words for the first time, I picked up the guitar and there it was – the tune on which to hang those sublime words. I still feel that sense of "loss" that you describe so well, but a little less, having read your comments. Smiles
I "liked" this song even though it wasn't that pleasant to listen to, just because I love the book so much.
