  • Do you want to stay home and drink alone because some scabby bigot in parliament doesn't want you smoking up the pubs? Wake up, UK, and take some advice from an American. Government prohibitions don't mean jack shit without the support of the nation. So bartenders, light up your smokes in your pubs and tell your customers to do the same. What makes you think it can't be done?

  • to be fair it is also cos places like tesco, asda, sainsburys and morrisons lowered prices. but that is cos they saw an opportunity, as i sed... smoking rooms, or do what the sun inn near here did, have a heated gazebo-type thing to smoke in.

  • The word you're looking for is "profiteering". The supermarkets are profiteering on the smoking ban by selling shit loads of beer to smokers that are now forced to stay at home.

  • Honolulu gross liquor sales from late night bars; 2003 = $34.1 million 2004 = $34.8 million 2005 = $35.1 million 2006 = $36.4 million 2007 = $29.27 million post ban -20% RAW Number of stand-alone bars 2003 = 366 2004 = 357 2005 = 359 2006 = 349 ( ban in November ) 2007 = 329 ! A RECORD DECLINE! That's with some places letting people brake the law just to survive. :(
  • Smokers have the right to refuse to patronize all establishments who choose to participate in discrimination. Like black people in the 1950's were not allowed to eat at white restaurants. They had to enter the 'back door'. How did this abusive treatment end....with Boycotts! It's peaceful, effective, and always wins in the end.

  • The smoking ban is another attack on British culture.

I'm a non smoker and I'm against the ban as is the BNP.

  • Found this is in a Kansas online comment -Canada, one of the most strident nations in attempting to enforce a smoking ban nationwide, is currently facing wide spread rebellion against their Draconian measures. The reports of businesses being financially ruined run rampant. Politicians who supported the bans are being voted out of office. Could almost be here couldn't it.

  • Oh my christ, there's NOBODY in the bar! Well done Harry! How can those wankers dare to claim that smoking bans are 'good for businesses'. Anti's are dolts and killjoys. Nerds who were tossed into trash cans in high school now running the ASH mafia.

  • Excellent work, HC. Short and sweet...VERY sweet.

  • There are lots like that hairy, the smoke-haters should have opened their own venues.

8th August 2006 the HSE in the document OC 255/16 Paragraph 14 "HSE cannot produce epidemiological evidence to link levels of exposure to second hand smoke to the raised risk of contacting specific diseases".

We need to get this ban amended to include ventilation,freedom2choose info for tolerant non-smokers and smokers alike Please show your support

  • That is what our pub looked like on a friday, while we were waiting for our takeaway to be cooked. Even my non-snomking hubby said, the ban has killed the pubs. I really never thought he would say that. Ventilation and choice should have been the way. The smoke-haters were never going to fill the pubs.

freedom2choose info for tolerant non-smokers and smokers alike - stand up and be counted, help those who fight this unjust, spiteful ban.

  • VOTE BNP

    end the ban

  • Labour are Traitors and parasites. LibDems are cowardly PC wasters. And the Tories are a bunch of stuck up tossers with no ability to challenge the real issues that are destroying this country (prefering instead to sit back & wait their turn to rob us blind). That only leaves the BNP and UKIP as viable parties that could drag this country up from the gutter that the current government has placed it.

  • There's fifteen million smoking voters waiting for a firm pledge from any party to completly overturn this evil & unjustifiable smoking ban.

Labour has already lost the next election, and the next government can be swept into office by tide of cheering smokers.

  • Smokers and Nonsmokers are starting to wake up. (Remember that antismokers are in the minority.) You've got a good opportunity here, BNP. :-)

  • Smoking Permitted Premises

    Non-Smoking Permitted Premises

    Freedom To Choose

  • Well thats showing it as it is,and the sad fact is Pubs and Clubs are closing at a record rate all across the Country,if only all the Pubs and Clubs took a stand against this smoking ban it would be over, the Government can Bully a handful of Heros as we have seen, but they will not win,Freedom 2 choose will prevail, cheers, Tug.

  • Yet, antismokers still boldly proclaim that pubs, clubs, restaurants and bars are jammed packed every night since the smoking ban experiement was enacted? Not quite dealing with reality, are they. (No question mark) Well, if the smoking ban forces more and more closures, then there will be far fewer places open and, then, the ones left MIGHT have a few customers!

BigYin, best wishes for the Leeds meeting with the CIU.

(and a long list of others)

  • Phil, this is the absurdity of this effing smoking ban, empty pubs/clubs everywhere! And if a publican tries to get back some trade and save his livelihood by allowing smoking he's treated, as Tony Blows was this week, with a whopping £12,000 fine! I for one will not tolerate this. The Leeds meeting with the CIU will let everyone know that F2C will not stand by and let this happen.

Freedom 2 Choose dot info will keep shouting until we are heard. Forces dot org too.
