I have lived all over China and I definitely wouldn't call Harbin beautiful. The people are nice though. But other than that it's dirty and crowded. I have been here 6 months now and am ready to go. There are tons of places in China much nicer than Harbin. Also it is inherent of Chinese people to say they love their home city. No matter how bad it is ....

You could say you are beautiful even others think you are not. And others might say you are ugly even you looks beautiful. Harbin is not as big and old as other cities. But I'm sure you didn't find the unique culture of Harbin even you've lived there.

Dirty? London is dirty, too. But many people like there. I don't care if other cities are more beautiful than Harbin. But I see that in Harbin, I found a lot what I never see in other cities.

I had stayed almost fourty countries, but most of the places are much dirty and crowed than Harbin except Singapore. We can not give any judgement to Harbin unless you knew it's culture deeply. Every city in the world will be changed day after day. However, Harbin is a beautiful city to me, I love the city and I'm so happy to lived ther around 26 days, I missed the beautiful city "Harbin" very much and wishing back to the city someday in the rest of life!

however, I am really interested with Harbin city, even people seldom to talk about it..maybe if i have a chance, i want to visit harbin..

Of course it is! The first Japanese prime minister, Hirohumi Ito,　was assassinated in Harbin. And the city was originally developed by the Russians. After 1949, the city has started its tragedy for being reigned by Chinese Communist Party, which is what prevented the city from developing.

However, no matter what challenges the city has to undergo, there is always two things that never changed: the dynamic nature of the city and the warmest mind of Harbin people!
