  • I am a filipino...

    the ADT is amazing.

Hiphop needs stamina so as to ballet and contemporary. Physicality in the dances would depend on the approach and choreography i think! Good Song!

  • I absolutely love these guys!!! Im mad about contempory dance. Der brilliant!!! Does anybody know da name of the song dey are dancing by any chance ????? :D:D

  • I like this one because it really does show the different styles of dance we learn in Australia. Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Contemporary/Lyrical, Cabaret, Hip Hop, Popping, Locking, Breakdancing and not to mention the many foreign dances we learn or what I like to call 'Nationals'. These guys are multi-talented for example when the contemporary dancer starts doing some hip hop with the other dancer. It's amazing what some dancers are capable of.

Well done Australia, You're doing us proud :)

  • wow i love this dance! it must so tiring! woop! go australia! :)

  • yay australia.

    pwns all the other countries:D

  • hmmm ...... yeah it does take alot of stamina and strength ..... but so does everyone elses style .. USA for me because they're doing so much more and its entertaining at the same time ...

you cant win a dance competition on respect alone

and still horrible song choice .. their not even moving along with the beat at least other teams are bringing rhythm beat and movement in one place

its like they chose a cool song and did whatever they felt like

  • i've been a classical indian dancer for 11 years now and i've been studying ballet on the side. i respect this dance so much...just imagining how much stamina and strength it takes to do this is tiring! not to mention accomplishing the synchronization. and you can definitely see elements of ballet incorporated. much respect for the ADT. (and for all the dances of the world - each is incredible in its own way)

  • That is THE most ignorant and racist i have ever come across, 'purbanegoro'. You would have to be one of the strongest dancers to do this genre of dance cleanly, not once did i see one of those dancers not commit to their choreography.

Your stereotyping purely on one style you see here, plus i dont see you, 'purbanegoro', attempting this, i doubt you'd be able to get through one leap.

  • lol what are you like 70years old this is brilliant you old fart get with it, oh sorry its not in black and white either but i guess things get more vibrant and creative over the years

  • Purbanegoro? Uncultured slobbish yahoo seems like a perfect title to describe you. Should've America won this show? Oh no, their dancers look like a group of morons having a synchronised epileptic fit! Ever heard of contemporary dance? This is what THIS is, and hip hop is just some form of dance gone spastic. By the way, there is no h in mediocre and no b is slavishly.

  • not saying Purbanegoro is right but your no different so ... proveing contemporary isnt rolling on the floor you attack hiphop by saying its a dance called spastic ... hahahaha wow your all the same .. i bet you cant even dance

  • have you ever heard of popping? breakdancing? locking? well thats what THIS is thier are many styles within hiphop and those different styles take alot of time to learn and require alot more stamina that contemporary you dont know how hard it is to isolate your joints for popping or those painful stretches people have to do for break dancing so STFU and sheebala ... well said

  • @RatChieftain Are you serious? Have you ever taken a ballet or contemporary class? There's a reason ballet and contemporary are "upper class" styles of dance - They require a hell of a lot more discipline and training than any other style around. I have great respect for hip hop dancers because I know I can't do what they do, but saying it requires more stamina than contemporary dance is plain ignorance. I'd like to see you keep up with ADT's dancers.

  • @purbanegoro As an Australian dancer, I have to disagree. And quite strongly. ADT is renowned for having the most versatile dancers in the country (if not, the world) and is easily one of the most physical and cutting-edge contemporary companies in the world. All of their dancers are absolutely superb. It takes so much strength and courage to be able to throw yourself into Gary Stewart's choreography - These are not ungraceful or un-poised dancers.

  • if your not from australia you wont understand how profound and incredible this style is! tohhhh! "throwing" themselves is called tumbling and rolling, and ADT are one of the world's best at it. you would have no idea how much skill is required to obtain feats like this.

  • I have seen multiple performances by the Australian Dance Theatre on the internet just out of curiosity and I must say I don't get it. They are just falling all the time and there isn't much dance, and even when they do dance they look worn out and slightly elementary. I think I would go crazy if I saw an entire show performed by them. How many times can you fall on the floor? I don't know but I am sure the Aus. Dance Theatre can tell us.

  • ever thought it might be part of the intent, genius?

  • interesting aussie??cool i thought it was aboriginal traditional but hm..

  • this isn't the music the company performed to. NBC dubbed over music they thought would be more appealing to their audience. So thats why the choreography looks mismatched to the music.

  • Is gravity stronger in Australia or something? This dance and the contemporary look like the dancers are in a fight with gravity, and losing. I don't understand it, I love dancing and love watching people dance, but I just don't see what's good about being able to throw yourself at the floor, as gracefully as they do...

  • i would LOVE to see you try

  • is tahth guy michael flatly!?

  • I love this performance its amazing.... but it was like acrobatics than dance than more acrobatics than more dance...... they didnt really mesh them together well... I mean they had each group of acrobatics then dancers just walk on and roll off.... but still I LOVED IT

  • i wish i liked this but it was like a lot of the movements were not in sync with the feel of the music =(

  • personally, I would have to say that there wasn't enough group dancing, there was duet and trio, and one quartet. perhaps if they did more as a group I'd be impressed.

  • Wow..that really sucks.. Cause it has killed the musicality which pretty much takes away the entire piece.. I am assuming it has something to do with copyright infringement of the song.. oh well..

  • nothing to do with copyright.

  • nice routine... but no musicality.. but 10 for ability and acrobatics!

  • nbc changed the music in post production. dance was originally filmed to a completely different track. Same goes for round 2.

  • I love this routine, but it PISSES ME OFF how out of sync they are xD

  • whoa awesome job! this is def one of my favorite groups in the competition! Go Australia!

hmm...not to throw things off though, but am I the only one wondering why there weren't any Aborigines representing Australia? I mean Australia is about as diverse as South Africa...

  • Do you know where i can get it on a cd cuz i cant seem to find it anywhere :(

  • in terms of versality and general amazingness i'm loving the Aussie team!

    [:

  • Does anyone know who sings the song and what its called that they are dancing to?

  • Lae & Chocolate O'Brian

    "Hands Up"

    :)
