  • lmao mine always jump up they think everything is food

  • lol the salamanders tried biting you twice XD

    Nice setup btw

  • hey expert retards if the salamanders are spending most of the time in the water then their habitat is too dry

  • how often do you have to change the moss or do you clean it. can someone please tell me

  • beside useing the moss can you use aquarium soil?

  • haha hA SNAP HIS AZZ SALAMANDER

  • I don't think Tiger salamanders spend the majority of the time in the water. I have had my tiger salamander for over 6 years and he spends most of his time underground. I use ecobedding and it is basically dirt that comes in a block. Any ways tigers are mole salamanders. They primarily live underground. He comes and lays in his water bowl sometimes but not primarily all of the time.

  • Hmmmm i like them salamanders... but id use soft pepple floor, it wouldnt distress the animal moving or eating, and they wouldnt look messy ahaaa

  • lol I want one so I can be like "I have a pet tiger......salamander" haha

  • this might be the only video on animals that expert village has that gives correct information... exept or the part with the spagnum moss, dont use just that use a mixture of that and coco fiber or just coco fiber, i dont think just spagnum moss is a good idea theymight have trouble moving in it or eating it when feeding its just to hold humidit so only use a small mount of it

  • @monkeyman410 lol yea your right there hamster and hermet crab vids are soooooooooo rong

  • dude they dont like you they will eat you when tour sleeping!

  • lol at 0:32 it like tryed to tag u

  • wich should i get red belly salamander or tiger salamander?

  • can you use the sand u use for bearded dragon

  • no why would you use sand? they need a moist habitat, sand will stick to there skin, use coco fiber or spagnum moss

  • how much are they normaly? nice vid

  • @flamingtarantula i got my tiger salamander for 19 dollers

  • sweet bwhere did u get your $19 tigersalamander?

  • Didnt have them at petstores? ive gott em in my back yard want some lol

  • i always wanted a salamander but i couldn't find a salamander in pet stores i was sooooooooo bummed but i got a beardie instead

  • That tank would be better for tree frogs or something not salamanders why does he not put them in a 20 long aquarium it's better.

  • he knows more then you

  • cool tank (if it is a real tank u can use) but dude... theyre wet lizards. its great to hav a bowl wif water but u gotta like.. spray their log thing cuz they like to sleep in damp areas too. and that tanks kinda small for them... id only have 1 in that thing.

  • hahaha.. the salamander is so cute.. he's trying to bite his hand :D

  • lol i know he's like "let me at em !"

  • I think the salamander doesn't like him much, or at least ain't used to him. It tries to bite him several times.

  • A 25 gallon Terranium is more than enough for a pair of tigers ;)

  • pretty cool. i think i might get a salamander next month

  • how long do tiger salamanders live

  • 10-15 years mini live now 13 years

  • if your salamanders are hanging out in the water dish alot their hidebox isnt moist enough keep 2 hide boxes one with moist moss the other dry

  • i just found a baby tiger salamander in TN. but it is a black one will it turn yellow. it also has three legs and missing a part of its tail

  • I heard they can get to more then 18 inches and when they get bigger they eat mice.

  • The tank actually needs a high cage to keep humidity even, but it does need to be bigger

  • the salamander tried biting the mans hand

  • because there hand fed they have an eating action when a hand comes by it

  • hey what is the name of the cage you have for your salamanders. Also what do their eggs look like? Are they white?

  • Its an exo terra cage.

  • my tiger salamander i think isnt pooping. is it a illness or what can i do to help?!!!!

  • take it to the vet

  • it's very stupid...oh the box is too small

  • i might be getting a tiger salamander, but how big do they grow to?

  • haha at :34 the salamander tried to eat him

  • lol

  • where did you get them and how much are they

  • maybe that's not their real tank, he probably uses it to show off the salamanders and their basic need, but still, that's bad influence on new salamander owners

  • That tank is plenty big for two adult Tigers. The dimensions on it are 18" 18" 18".

  • did any one else see that the slamander was trying to bite him like the whole time?

  • ya lol... mine do that all the time.. i will open the lid and they will start jumping lol... sometimes they bite my finger and i cant get em to let go...lolz...

  • uhh, no. i wasn't excactly concentrating on that.

  • What size exo terra is that??

  • 18 cube

  • it kept trying to bite him!!! haha

  • And they are not very active so they don't need a large tank, a 20 gal. is plently for a tiger salamander!

  • salamanders do have teeth but are extremely small and will not hurt you if you get bite, its like a light pinch.

  • i loved this vid i want a salamander, then again im an animal LOVA! i want a hedgehog/pacmanfrog 2 tho!

  • thats not good, it is mostly hight and they need a 20 gallon long tank, not a 10 gallon high terrarium.

  • what size tank do u need

  • do they have teeth? no right?!

  • ok, so at work, one of the guys sucked up a salamander with our flood trucks in an old building....surprisingly...tha lil guy made it....and they brought him back....and now i have him....I dont know what type he is....ummm...hes kinda exactly like the tiger salamander (his markings) but just smaller.....ive been taking good care of him, petland sold me worms and eco-earth for him.. how can you tell what "breed" he is.. cause as i said..he looks like the "tiger" but is just smaller

  • the terrarium is too small!!!

  • 0:34 salamder tried to bite him

  • that was funny

  • at :34 the salamander jumped up to bite him

  • sweet salamanders, how much did that enclosure cost you?

  • you can buy the moss at feed stores,

or you can use green moss off of trees it will suck up lots of water and grow slightly

  • i just cout a salamder under a log it looks like a tigger but it has silverish bule stripes. can some one pm me and tell me what it is

  • Hi, I have a tiger salamander / water dog, where i guess it is still in its larvae state. the gills are no longer there so i am assuming that its now changing into a tiger salamander...how do you know when to take it out of the tank and put it into a dryer environment?

  • great vid

  • Great video! Can I use worm bedding as a substrate?

    Thanks!

  • .........u fool

  • I used to keep Tiger Salamanders for years. Now I never see them in the pet stores. Where can I get one now ?

  • Corrent me if I'm wrong. It looks like a lizard to me, but in Biology class they told me that they are amphibians and not reptiles.

  • You are correct. They are not related to lizards.

  • They are, in fact, RELATED to lizards but are not lizards themselves.

  • I was thinking about making a large 25 gal terrarium (half water and half land) for 2 tiger salamanders. I wanted the water portion to be 4" deep with an easy way to get back (onto dry land). I want it to have live moss, a waterfall, some guppies, ferns, drift wood, and some floating aquatic moss... The works! You think it would do fine in that? Or would the water just be a waste? Beside the eye-pleasing... Kinda like the one found at brianstropicals (.com)

  • me too

  • i am going to be buying a tiger, an emperor newt, fire bellied newt and a red salmander. i might not get them all but i really want the tiger and the emperor.

  • Nice looking Tigers. Very well made "how to video".

I keep a few in my day, had one for 8 years, great pet.

  • when you love you love your salamanders so much, why they live in such a small terrarium?

  • ...........u fool

  • lol, at 0:33 the salamander jumps up to bite him. classic

  • i had one of these for a while he was old when i got him i had him about three years i just had one side at bout 2-3 inches of water and the other side gravel and moss he mostly stayed in the water and ate fish like crazy

  • where can is get these material?erm..whats the name of it?^^

  • Very helpful. Thanks. ^_^

I didn't realize that I should change the water so often, I hope it won't hurt mine in the long run. :/

  • does anyone know what to feed them when theyre babbies?ya no when they r still swiming

  • finally one of these people knows what there talking about!

  • oh a realy big hood -.- not nice for the animal!!

  • im gonna try to get my mom to let me get a tiger salamander

  • Tjis would be good, but the salamanders are borrowing salamanders so he should make the soil deeper. Nice cage thouhg! :)

  • The comments you post on a Expertvillage video, will not be Answered, because its not some personal account as you probs know, so one is really the ''owner'' of the account. Just wanted to say, no negative reaction or something :P

  • at 0:33 does it try to bite u

  • this video was great lots help the other 2 I went to before didnt say any of this might as well remove them but keep this one thanks

  • did he try to bite you at 34 seconds?

  • lmao that's funny :D

  • lol yea he did

  • Also.. they shouldn't spend the vast majority of their time in water. They are probably doing so because of the sphagnum moss. They should spend the overwhelming majority of their time underground or in a cave because they are a mole salamander or a fossorial salamander.

  • eros719 your full of shit stop acting like you know cause you dont

  • Miguel, shut up, eros is right. Tiger Salamanders are a species of mole salamanders that usually only go back to water to breed. Don't believe us? Wikipedia or google tiger salamanders. Before saying others are full of crap make sure YOU know what you're talking about before making idiotic posts.

  • erm..sphagnum moss is BAD for tiger salamanders. It is acidic and can at least cause health problems, at worst it'll cause death. Coco fiber or EcoEarth is considered by most tiger keepers the best substrate or a half and half mix of coco fiber and potting soil. It retains water well, isn't acidic and unhealthy for the tiger and isn't harmful if accidentally ingested. Further more because they are a fossorial, burrowing animal its best to give them lots of dirt to dig in, usually 3-5 inches dirt

  • lol.... at 00:34 it tried to bite him

  • yea lol

  • lmao

  • nice vid

  • yeah I agree, my tiger is spoiled...vids to come...

  • Thats a shiity set up... U a homo
