0:50 It's been a while I don't play SC2. I used to go terran, mass raven usually. I used to drop a seeker missile to kill the larvae. It would be epic to drop a SM on that pile of cocoons :D
The only problem here is that your army is going to spawn in the mineral line, and when using Ultras, it can be a bit of a clusterfuck getting them out quickly. This trick might be slightly useful within the first few minutes of a game, but then it really doesn't matter after that once you have substantial worker counts.
I love how the army hiding trick both blocks his gas and makes sure his army won't be useful.
Maybe I'm being overly picky, though. This player is clearly good enough to notice the ~0.25 seconds lost when his drone spawns two hexes further from his minerals - that's pretty gosu.
I don't think that minerals "trick" would make an appreciable difference. I'd be interested to see someone do some analyses using the map editor on that though to prove me wrong.
The first tip seemed kind of useless since although workers get their .3 seconds faster, any attacking units like zerglings have to travel that much farther. Second tip was weird... i kind of want to try it.
This trick alleviates most of the setback zergs get from positional imbalance between top and bottom placements. Spawn positions are still not balanced, even with this trick, but now the bottom zerg suffers less of a disadvantage. (top zerg: whose larvae spawn between the hatchery and mineral patches, bottom zerg: whose larvae spawn on the wrong side of the hatchery, far from the mineral patches)
Blocking larvae spawn and path positions will limit your stockpile of larvae from excessive spawn larvae via queens. You can only have so many of them in front of hatch if it is blocked off. This is more important in late stage games
There might be dimensions here that I dont get, byt why would I like to hide my army..? Why not use it to harass or maintain map control and map vision? Also, if my opponent comes into my base (with a drop or just marches in) and focus-fires down my nydus network before I either can kill off my evolution chamber or build a nydus worm - I'll lose my entire army. Also - chances are I wouldnt be able to spot the drop, because my army is in the nydus network. It seems very risky with little reward.
@CrazyOneSC2 Then again, you (The Starcraft2 Dude) do not claim it is a good trick - just a trick. So you got your bases covered. The first part of the video was educational though.
@CrazyOneSC2 the nydus worm isn't what's hiding it. Eggs won't hatch if there is not enough space for units to get out, so the units were "hidden" because they were stuck in the eggs. It works with any building.
These are not "tricks", as they don't help you in any way. Building an evo chamber that early is completely worthless, and in no way would having larva be slightly closer to your minerals make up for wasting a drone and 75 minerals on an evo chamber. If you use standard evo timings, then your minerals are already saturated anyway, and the slight increase in income is completely nullified anyway.
@greatgrahambini dont need to do it with an evo chamber? if ur going to open roach anyway, might as well do this. and its stupid to say a 'standard' evo timing, because I build 1 evo chamber well before im fully saturated.
@greatgrahambini then use a roach warren or a baneling nest instead... And they are things you, as a zerg player should know... whether you choose to use them effectively (for them to be tricks to help you) is up to you. Personnally, I prefer to hide my tech behind my mineral line, so I won't be using this anytime soon...
A zerg base should be open and not clustered so that new waves of lings can get a better surround in the event the protoss or terran ball get in close proximity to your mineral line. pulling of this trick will require great skill.
@Messiahs Zergs aren't good at sim city, and you should be FEing, anyway. This will be useful at your main, where you can prevent harass by blocking your choke with queens/lings/spines/etc. and then build your sim city at your natural, where you're actually going to get harassed.

The second 'trick' is possibly the single most retarded thing I've ever fucking seen. I hope I play you and drop you, kill your spines and then laugh at you for the next few hours.
@TheBrunaland So you say you can get to GM just by using a simple trick? Then your really stupid. Getting to GM is just as hard as walking over a 10 miles long way of burning ashe!
@TamaNewb thats the thing. believe that and the fact that terran add-ons are always to the right is one of the things I feel makes build placement hard (more for the terran then zerg.)
What he said. Although this is kinda interesting, having a sim city is more important. It protects your dronseys from stuff like early hellion harass, ling/ bling allins and all that stuff. Still kinda neat though.
i love those tricks it's funny, soem are usefull some aren't. Btw why don't you comment some of your games? You ll always find some zerg layers like me to watch them:)
@Lackaaffee why lol? Husky's for kids, he's a nice guy and all but i don't like him. Zai, xHydraX, CricketStarcraft, CommunityStarcraft and many more are much better than him. And if i want good commented games i go on gom.tv to watch the GSL.
It will only be a small boost to the economy but it might be useful for early game rushing and the sort. And yes if you block in your eggs before they can hatch they will wait until they are unblocked. this is especially fun when you have 11 ultra's all waiting to be spawned until your enemy kills the buildings in the way.
look at the decal on his hatchery... that decal requires 1000 1v1 quick league wins as zerg. guess this guy really knows what he'l doing

Seriously, neither of these tricks seem useful. They're cool, but I can't imagine a use for them in a real game.
