What format does the camera save the HD movie files in? Is it Avi Motion JPEG?

@ImageDissectors sadly, no. It saves as .MOV, making it incompatible with practically every generic editing software.

@ayessalopez Nope.At this point i only have the lens that the camera came with.If i remember correctly it was 18-55mm.And it is not possible to use extra mic on this camera.There is no input for it :).Its one of the only problems this camera has.

@ayessalopez it depends.If you wanna buy a camera for youtube videos i would buy the cannon 550D.They are basickly the same cameras.The canon is a bit more expensive but atleast you can add an external mic :)

@TechStories79 Well, the video recording it better on the D3100 over the D90 for sure. Having a quiet shooting mode on the D3100 is also nice.

I'd still prefer the D90 though. It feels a lot more solid in your hands and it has a lot more features/controls for photography.

If I was recommending a camera for a first time DSLR user, I'd recommend the D3100 though - the D90 probably has too many features!

I am in the market for a camera and comparing Nikon with canon, thsi camera show an improvement over the D90's jello effect, but I do have a problem with the color tone, specialy skin tone and feel canon maybe produces better colors, skin looked more greenish yellow, but I have to do some hand on tests myself to be definitive. Any input on color tone.

@rosebmb It could also have to do with what type of lens you're using, since they could vary slightly. White balance is another factor, it can throw the camera off a bit occasionally. Finally, you can do some post-process editing to fix it up a bit which can help.

@MrlloydCook Id say 550d because of the manual focus however this is cheeaper, it depends what your filming really.

@sh3t0r I doubt they will let us do those things. I can see them taking all the entry level consumers with their 'Full HD', but the sad thing is i expect it will be on the higher professional cameras where we first see FULL manual video... Canon sadly still rule in the Video Dslr world...

@georgesp1234 My entry level Panasonic has full manual movie controls with the hacked firmware. I can adjust ISO, Aperture, shutter speed, color, sharpness, noise reduction, and contrast for video. The GH2 will be the video camera to get though.

@cctl01 Yes with the hacked firmware my Panasonic GF1 allows me to adjust shutter speed while videoing. Check my videos out to see examples using full manual controls in a very difficult scenario. The bright light in some of the shots combined with lot's of shadows makes it hard to get the exposure right without manual controls.
