Ya know, you say this movie is "the boldest indictment of the Bush administration to date." If you listened to the director and writer of the movie, they BOLDLY state that this movie has NOTHING to do with the Bush administration. And get a better quality clip.
Lets wait and see how the H1N1 virus turns out, BTW it is Rahm Emnanual who says never let a good crisis go to waste, and the current administration that wants to censure or shutdown TV, radio, internet, etc. as they see fit, the censors and systems of surveillance are being put in place and we are all getting the bill as well as the shackles. They can seize your safety deposit boxes, bank accounts, cost you your job, audit and otherwise make your life miserable, savor your freedoms now.
Similar to the U.S. then? lol its economic at the end of the day. You might just turn around one day and think "fuck, those sneeky greedy bastards fucked us all".

I think this movie can be very inspirational to ppl to open their eyes to our world...I'm a fan of this movie and I fully believe in the whole paying attention to what our government is doing , reclaiming power for ourselves, so I think you should be careful with the movies you're putting down, b/c I think some of them set powerful enough messages for change, one that promotes growth, not diminishes-but then again thats my opinion, which I think is wonderful. I hope we never lose that
I don't see why this was put down 3 times, so I have it a thumbs up. It's simply a coinicdence, and not that good of one. The Bush Adminitation, while corrupt and idiotic, has not hit the country with something like this.
@9/11 conspiracy people: Please don't bother yelling at me about your silly "US government did it" theories, they are all BS.
That just goes to show that the idea has been around for a long time. That means people should be able to see what is going on even more. History tends to repeat itself. Americans are paranoid, scared pussies though, and are satisfied when "muslim terrorists" are being killed, just as long as they have their TV, Football games, and Beer. Americans dont give a shit that their governement has them under control. Americans fear their government. Governments should fear their people instead.
@Elfinesmom You are incorrect about this. Alan Moore himself has stated that the original V was written in response to the Margaret Thatcher-Ronald Regan Era, and if you read the graphic novel it's perfectly clear what it is addressing. The Wachoski brothers, the makers of the film, however updated the script for a more modern time, directly drawing the parallel between the Bush administration. It's intentional. V - the film - is SPECIFICALLY addressing the problem in America.
I know what you mean, but there is a huge difference between a "nanny state" and a state run by a religious fanatic, who rules by fear and that is totalitarian in nature.
The American death toll is 4078, the wounded has peaked 30004. The civilian death toll in Iraq is an estimated 83,521 - 91,094. American soldiers suicide rate is steadily rising as well as going awol. We need to fight for them here at home, all they ask from us is that we don't send them in harms way unless its absolutely necessary. They are being told to commit crimes against humanity, and the current administration believes in torture (water-boarding).
Bush proposed in cutting back combat soldiers pay by 33% and assistance to their families by 60%, he opposed giving veterans 1bil. more in health care benefits, tried to double drug costs for veterans, as well as closing veteran hospitals. There was a bill going through congress that proposed that Americans who believe in 'conspiracies' and speak out publicly against the governments action are subjects to 'potential terrorist'. Country of the free? Our constitution has been put aside,
I am so embarrassed by what my country has become. This war is like Vietnam the Sequel with the new war profiteers being Dynacorp and Haliburton. May God forgive us for what this country has become. I am now seriuosly considering moving to Canada..
And replaced with the patriot act. The American tax payers money should be benefiting this countries schools, roads, workers, etc. Instead of this Trillion dollar occupation I mean war. And these record high unregulated gas prices should also being doing so, instead of the oil companies 'happening' to be making record billions in profit. Homeland security is a bust, and with the poverty and foreclosure rate rising and rising, the economy's back breaking, there's bound to be a major recession.
Bush veto's 15billion dollar bills that would give national healthcare for children but still proposing 90 billion to Iraq. This country will be in a police state if we keep going the way were going. It will be a society with either rich or poor, no middle class. We've lost our 4th power of government (media). America has been hijacked by profiteers and psychopaths...it is the new world order. I believe that America does still exist, its just the people need to take it back.

Osama has never admitted to doing 9/11, in fact he basically explicitly denies doing it in every video that the government claims he admits culpability.
"False Flag" attacks (and their variants) are as old as the hills, a standard M.O. of any rogue government. Operation Northwoods, Operation Gladio, Gulf of Tonkin, 9/11, *and* 7/7 (London) for 5 modern examples.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
That is such an ignorant statement. You can't possibly say that the government had anything to do with terrorism. There have been terrorist attack for decades. I swear, it makes me so mad how our own people have turned on each other. And why can't people stop bashing our own president? Sure, he's made bad choices. But he was the lesser of two evils. I take him over Kerry any day. At least he knows what he believes and sticks with it.
Being a patriot means that you rebuke your country when it needs to be rebuked, and you love it when it needs to be loved. Therefore, we must rebuke Bush in order to be a patriot.
There is a difference between rebuking and downright spitting on someone. What we need is for someone to lend good, sound advice instead of ridiculing him and saying, "God, he's stupid." We have had worse Presidents *coughClintoncough*. Even if you don't like him or his ideals (like me), we still should not be completely bashing our own President. Your kind of rebuke does not make you a Patriot. It makes your a smart-mouth coward. As I said, he was the lesser of two evils. Deal with it,or shutup
Just because he was the lesser of two "evils" doesn't mean that he is void of the "evil" he still has. Regardless of such silly easily fallible arguements, he is still bad. It is also quite clear that he will not listen to advice. I cite the invasion of Iraq as an example, especially the WMD rationale. Finally, Clintion wasn't bad, nor was he really good. He was just there when everything went right.
Amen, thank you! I hate the fact that people seem to get some sort of sick pleasure out of bad-mouthing our government. Yes, Bush may not have made all of the right choices, but we should still stick by what we're doing now, and stop being such wimps when it comes to fighting. Personally, I hate to think as to what'll happen it Hillary gets into the White House. One Clinton was enough. To tell the truth, I'm scared as to what'll happen at that point in time. Maybe I should move to Japan...
" Most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all." Michael Rivero[from The Terror Conspiracy by Jim Marrs.] It's so easy to dismiss anyone who doesn't buy the official story as a "conspiracy nut" but do you really think that the rich and powerful don't conspire to work together to protect their oligarchy? It's a dangerous assumption.
Compare this to the usa today and the war. Research things like the Bilderberg group. Search Halliberton. Search for government sponsored terrorism. Search operation northwoods on Google. Don't take my word but do your research because this movie has some very similaraties to today.
You always have to ask what it the incentive for Bush to have conducted 9/11. Not only is it impossible to keep a secret that big, you have to be insane beyond belief to still be able to sleep at night after killing 2000 innocent people.
People have to ask in every conspiracy what is the incentive. And if there is an incentive is it even logical that they outweigh it's badness.

you're an idiot if you think bush conducted 911. we arent living in a conspiracy-stop trying to make your favorite movie anything more than what it is- a movie.
You know some people need to wake up and see the truth in what is goin in todays society. One of the main aims behind this movie was to do exactly that. There is physical proof that 911 was fake your just not willing to acknowledge to it.
You know some people need to wake up and see the truth in what is going on in todays society. One of the main aims behind this movie was to do exactly that and get people thinking. There is physical proof that 911 was fake. your just not willing to acknowledge it.
That's just it. Bush had nothing to do with it. The president is only a figure head that has no real power when it comes to the decisions that affect this country or the people who live in it. So yes, Bush himself may have had nothing to do with 9/11. But to think that the government wasn't involved in one way or another is a bit naive. You don't have to believe in conspiracy theories to accept that lots of things happen that we are all unaware of.
but i hope 9/11 conspiracy tools dont think this is anything like september 11th;
no this is fictional, though bush is a dumbfuck who went into iraq for oil and murders thousands of innocents every month and though i hate all his policies, he still didnt conduct 9/11
Though he has benefited suspiciously much from it no? im still skeptical but the more i look and Debunking 9/11 and the Debunkings of the Debunking.... it just seems so creepy
I don't see how donating money to the campaign of Ron Paul is a revolution at all... very clever marketing to try to get people to donate, but before I donate $100 to anything I always check it out first. I think it's sad that Ron Paul has to try to capitalize on V for Vendetta in order to raise presidential campaign funds.
He's had nothing to do with it. It is an independent, grassroots effort. And it is a revolution, it just isn't over yet. We're taking back our country from those who would destroy it.
V for Vendetta isn't about Dubya, as much as I hate him, or even America. The graphic novel is about England, the movie is just rediculous and Americanized so it slides down this countries throat easier. And I Royak2007 is right; Guy Fawkes was crazy, he wasn't a hero.
lmao, this isnt about dubya haha you parinoid bastards... heehee also politics are boring lol you people kill me. Keep up the research buckyanimal i am sure youll get it right next time
That is does. It is a perfect example of Machiavelli's idea of "rule by fear". He wrote The Prince, a very old politcal document that fits alot of facist regimes.
I am very old myself. I read The Prince in 1968. I have seen conservative republicans become clones of John Kennedy. I have watched democrats become social/fasciasts. America is in grave danger. Be careful what political road you take my young friend, you may be the last of the "free" Americans.
Listen, Im 13 but i am clever enough to get a place at any university i want, i know the whole equasion of relitiviy and got an A* on my GCSE chemistry, for a thirteen year old thats frikking excellent, how old are you my good american... above 20??
who me?? Im no good american, my patrioticness sucks.... (im only 14, thank you very much) though I don't know nothing about those kinda equations (but i suck at math.... english is my strong side)
um... what's a totalitarian??? (sorry for being a ditz...) is it like "I rule, you drule" type thing, total control, and they use wars and terrorsim to pressure people into submission... like in V for Vendetta.... like that???
okay, I've officially stepped out of my comfort zone on politics... you have TOTALLY lost me... (sorry for being a dizt, and sorry if I offended you, and sorry for wasting ur time... sorry again.) sorry.
wtf are u talking about off course u can buy miyt noobb hahaha just buy it who gives a shit i bought scream 3 when i was 14 LOL if ure 17 u can buy all movies exept porn mmovies
your right, but i don't think this film is a statement just against bush and the us govt, but the british govt too. Think of March 11th and the train bombings...
My govt or my queen had nothing to do with those bombibgs on 7/7 on the london underground, even me, a child could figure that out, i just missed the train that those scum blew up.
"the boldest indictment of the Bush administration to date. This clip from the movie discusses how "leaders" planned an attack on their own country to spread fear, panic"
9/11, right? What about the al-Qaeda attacks in the 90s? Clinton must've been in on it too then, wouldn't he?
"Nuh uh, he iz not a Republicanz, he on our side!1!"
and its true we citizens of the united states are a bunch of idiots. mind controlled, propoganda fed, idiots. but obviously not everyone here are sheep. just most of em. but times are a changin me friends. near are the days that all governments will come to fear their people.
lmfao it may be illegal to threaten bush but man it sure as shit feels good. hes a bum. he should be put in prison. and you know if the fbi investigated everyone that made a threatening comment about bush ninety nine percent of us would be in jail lmfao
y'know what, im not bound by the laws of the united states so i can say that bush is a old cootish fool with no sense of leadership, numeric abillity or concience... GOD SAVE THE QUEEN
If you want to know what the writers and directors of this movie thought and their opinions of what war it was bsaed upon and the comic was originalyl based upon, watch the making of on the DVD. Duh.
actually, jackasses, this was not something directed at Bush. Great deductive reasoning, fucktards. Go bleed out your heart on some other forced propaganda.
Dubya is an idiot, i should know Im british and from my viewpoint in the country that held the largest empire EVER. Do you want to know what you look like when you follow BOTH Bushes, you look like IDIOTS... but then again the USA is know for its massive supply of idiots
sadly... (im not very patriotic) I agree... my parents are trying to raise me to love people like bush... but I go to the WRONG school for that... and though I may be american I have to agree with you, if they hated the first bush, why the hell did they elect the second? I don't follow politics that well, Im trying, but I know that both of them made some stupid decisions, right idea, for sure, but wrong way of going about it.... (I'd rather live in japan...)
As much as you might like to blame one person, it isn't Bush's fault. I'm not a massive fan of him or anything; I don't usually care much for politics and politicians, but saying it's Bush's fault is like me blaming atheists for the rise in crime. It just doesn't work.
While I am no defender of Bush, I think it is a huge leap to single Bush out as "the bad guy". Clearly these kinds of things go on in almost every government. We should be eternally vigil.
All empires fall. its a given. but bush has done more dmg to our empire than any sane person could of dreamed. SOMEONE PLS SHOOT HIM. Cheney too.. but carefull he is good with a shotty.
Encouraging people to assassinate the president and vice-president is a crime. The FBI and Secret Service investigate people who make these kinds of statements. Near my home, a guy in a bar made a threatening statement, was overheard, turned in by someone, investigated by the FBI, then sentenced to five years in prison.
This film is not related to the Bush adminstration in any way, shape or form. Someone who can make a film this clever would spend time making a documentary on 9/11/Bush etc if that is what the director thought. Am I the only one who can see that?
You're wrong, even Alan Moore, the creator of the comic on which the film was based, has said that the film was clearly based on the current US government, whereas his original work was based on the government of PM Thatcher. You're missing the forest for the trees.
With respect, even though Alan Moore created the comic, the film is markedly different to the comic and therefore any comparison is severely limited. I know they would not link it to Bush in black and white but lets be honest, a lot of what is in the film you cannot link to the current US govt-not saying you are like this, but some people only need half an excuse to jump on the anti-USA, anti-Bush bandwagon.
To the person who posted this video: the graphic novel the movie was based on was written in the 80s. It can be applied to the Bush administration, just like any other government body, but the story definitely is NOT about that specifically.
government was responsible. do research. media is owned by those that perpetrated the act. they feed you bullshit. do research. almost all the "highjackers" have been found round the globe. do research.
I was actually really suprised watching Ron Paul on the debate. When he talked about the war my mouth nearly dropped. It takes a lot of balls to sa what he said.
this is based quite a bit on "julius caesar" by Shakespeare. The revolution is a new twist. Essencially, the seneta kills the leader (Chancelor) to prevent further stupidities. it's happened more than once before, it will happen again. This movie IS bashing Bush, but it also bashes any other political leader on the face of the planet since the beginning of political leaders. Great movie, by the way.
Just got done watching this film. I actually laughed at some of the dialogue. This film is artistic and ideological garbage. The dialogue ranges from pseudo-intellectual to absurd. It contains every stupid film cliche imaginable, and it doesnt even make sense. We want to be free so lets bomb shit. If you want a profound film, watch Network or Strangelove or something.
Nevertheless, the movie itself in a whole was beautifully directed. There are several valuable words and ideals in this movie, and it's definitely one of my favorites. The most interesting thing is that while some absolutely love this movie, everybody else utterly loathes it. It's sad.
Ideals? That a revolution consists of one man? That in order to be free and liberated, destruction of historical works of architecture and culture must occur? Romanticizing a conspiracy in which religious radicals plot to kill the Protestant rulers in order to establish their own monarchy? Did you even watch this film?
The revolution didn't consist of one man but, he was the leader. He didn't just destroy a historical architecture, he destroyed a "symbol" which is different and indeed meaningful. What's wrong about romanticizing? Did you even watch this film?
Yes it did. No one else was involved at all except him, and the only reason he did it was because of a personal vendetta. And what is not wrong with romanticizing? Especially in the context of this film where objectivity should be valued, like trying to fix a government. And have you ever even researched the Gunpowder Plot? It was an attempt by Catholic extremists to murder the Protestant rulers of England, in order to establish their own monarchy.
...which is hardly appropriate given the apparent motive of V to reestablish liberty and freedom in his country. Yet he idolizes a plot in which the goal is the exact opposite. This movie was not thought out, and the only purpose it serves is it give brainless liberals something to gawk at for a couple months until the next shitty film comes along.
i don't care, people have right for opinnion(acording to the movie. i understood the whole thing, but princables don't match at parts. the other magican madv devliers the message much better! about love and compassion. really check him out!
While there could be some possible mentionings of war throughout the movie, that is not the point we're getting at. The above clip is not a statement against Bush whatsoever. It is supposed to be an clip that emeplifies that fear is what can be used to cause chaos in a country, essentially.
I'm not talking about how the war improves the econemy ect. im saying its being faught for a good reason, i agree its being handled prety poorly but that is not bush's fault, that is the rest of congress and the stupid retarted democrats. I doesnt matter if your for the war or against it we CANNOT pull out now. im runnin outa space and id rather talk one on one
1:so basiclly while our troops our over in Iraq dieing,we have immigrants coming from all over. This pretty much means were going to be a bilingual country and there will be fights for languages and cultures.
2.Yea our economy gets better but um while troops are over fighting a war, immigrants come and take a lot of jobs. This means that a lot of troops are out of work when they get back cause there will be no jobs left at this rate.
turkeyman i do agree with you that to a certain degree the war in iraq is a good thing even though i disagree with it. war is good for the country. It gives us stuff to producet hat we wouldnt need in time of war. thus making more jobs etc etc etc. thats just a glimspe at it. overall result, it makes the economy strongerand better.
Hey dcgc34: how does fascists and false flag ops remind one of liberals and the welfare state? This video is -expilcitly- about how governments use fear to control their people, and -arguably, implictly- about 911 Truth.(To those who argue that it can't be about Bush because the COMIC precedes him, I would point out that the MOVIE was made in 2006. The movie actually refers directly to Iraq as well, Valerie's letter mentions "America's War" over Iraq War footage.)
Ever read atlas shrugged? There is a lot of fear and blackmailing because of the welfare state. their money is spent on project x, a weapon of mass destruction, and project f, which is a torture machine used to torture jouh galt.
hitler didnt use fear to control? Reichstag Fire, mass murdering?
I would actually disagree with that comparison 100 percent. I watched v for vendetta and it is probably one of my favorite movies. I do not see the Bush administration when i think of v for vendetta. I think of book's like ayn rand's "Atlas Shrugged" and Nazi Germany. I think of socialistic liberals in our society who preach that the strong must live to support the weak, and that that is a right the weak have.
Terror, Bush and Co. definitly dont use fear to take away rights and invade privacy. Nope, not at all...Keep burrying you head in the sand until someone comes along and kicks you in the ass.
there is ALOT of propa ganda pumped out by the democrats that iraqu is bad! so many people dieing! omg! blame bush blame bush! (not to mention the totaly slanted main stream media) i cant explain it all in this little paragraph but if you like to talk to me one on one and let me explain why bush ISNT a bad president and why the iraq war IS a good thing leave your msn and ill add u
Also this isnt about bush lol, this comic has been around for ages. I personaly spend ALOT of time, probly more then i should, reading about alot of polictical and world events such as iraq, ect. to be honest, Bush isnt a bad president at all
alright guys, i didnt read all of the pages just the first one. Guys if your going to attack bush please do it without saying OMFG U LITTLE MORON U ARE SO DUMB HE DID THIS... honestly Grow UP! if your gonna tell us how aparently bush ruined the world do it properly
I don't know about the rest of you, but as for liberties that I've lost to the Bush administration, how about the right to privacy, I mean c'mon phone taps WTF is up with that? Or how about the patriot act, hand over information or be jailed.
What I find encouraging about this movie is that it makes people think and discuss issues involving government. The movie does prove that FEAR can be a usefull tool.
"You know what they say. "You can fool some people sometimes,But you can't fool all the people all the time."
Also, the top 1% own over 90% of the countries wealth. So they don't need any tax breaks. They also make 400x more than the averagee man. How many Bentleys do you need?
Yes written before Bush could it be compared to his administration? Sure why not. But there are two others who wrote the screen play and could of changed a lot of what the books said, i don't know i never read the novel can someone who read the book and saw the movie say something here bc others and I don't know if there were a lot of changes or not.
Well, I got cut off, Just look up Adolph Hitler's quotes and you'll see more parallels.
And I do not think anyone can say that there is not truth in this movie. How can you not even have a slight doubt that things have been rigged? That there is a conspiracy, even that there could be?
Very naive to think that there aren't people, especially ones in power that wouldn't do such EVIL things.
"The great masses of the people . . . will more easily believe a great lie than a small one."
"Instruction in world history in the so-called high schools is even today in a very sorry condition. Few teachers understand that the study of history can never be to learn historical dates and events by heart and recite them by rote; that what matters is not
OIl and making the ruling elite in America even richer are the reasons why we are in IRAQ. I would suggest you and any of your children go join the army ASAP. War gets rid of Republicans and crazy religious radicals...or are they just the same?
come on. im a crazy liberal, but i dont believe that. i truly think bush was dumb enough to believe he was justified, that's all. but thats besides the point here
And the rest of Congress was dumb enough as well eh? I love how people think Bush is solely responsible for this disaster. Have you forgotten about all these clowns in the Senate that actually passed the legislation?
I hate people that say this is anti-Bush, left-wing The story is based on Guy Fawkes, a famous British anarchist and conspirator against the monarchy. He tried to bring down the monarchy by blowing up the Parliament while the King and most of Parliament was inside, hence the explosion in the movie. The movie has inspirations from any fundamental anarchist beliefs. Why do all you Republicans think every media outlet is trying to blacken your name?
Actually, V for Vendetta was created a few years before Bush was elected. Therefore, since this is true, and the movie was based almost directly off the graphic novels, your idea that this is a statement against our president is completely false. This was and currently is a political statement about Britain, and remember THIS IS FICTION! Stop trying to insult our president when you clearly do not understand the point of us being in Iraq.

@Elfinesmom Funny you say that, cause if you watch the movie, V says" I like God, do not believe in coinidence"...

RubberSoull1 3 years ago 2
Bush veto's 15billion dollar bills that would give national healthcare for children but still proposing 90 billion to Iraq. This country will be in a police state if we keep going the way were going. It will be a society with either rich or poor, no middle class. We've lost our 4th power of government (media). America has been hijacked by profiteers and psychopaths...it is the new world order. I believe that America does still exist, its just the people need to take it back.

"False Flag" attacks (and their variants) are as old as the hills, a standard M.O. of any rogue government. Operation Northwoods, Operation Gladio, Gulf of Tonkin, 9/11, *and* 7/7 (London) for 5 modern examples.

But really. I'm sick and tired of this crap.
Rinscher 3 years ago
Being a patriot means that you rebuke your country when it needs to be rebuked, and you love it when it needs to be loved. Therefore, we must rebuke Bush in order to be a patriot.
Starguy93 3 years ago 3
There is a difference between rebuking and downright spitting on someone. What we need is for someone to lend good, sound advice instead of ridiculing him and saying, "God, he's stupid." We have had worse Presidents *coughClintoncough*. Even if you don't like him or his ideals (like me), we still should not be completely bashing our own President. Your kind of rebuke does not make you a Patriot. It makes your a smart-mouth coward. As I said, he was the lesser of two evils. Deal with it,or shutup
Rinscher 3 years ago
Just because he was the lesser of two "evils" doesn't mean that he is void of the "evil" he still has. Regardless of such silly easily fallible arguements, he is still bad. It is also quite clear that he will not listen to advice. I cite the invasion of Iraq as an example, especially the WMD rationale. Finally, Clintion wasn't bad, nor was he really good. He was just there when everything went right.
Starguy93 3 years ago

AlonsoLegend 4 years ago
You're wrong, even Alan Moore, the creator of the comic on which the film was based, has said that the film was clearly based on the current US government, whereas his original work was based on the government of PM Thatcher. You're missing the forest for the trees.
thesolo 4 years ago
With respect, even though Alan Moore created the comic, the film is markedly different to the comic and therefore any comparison is severely limited. I know they would not link it to Bush in black and white but lets be honest, a lot of what is in the film you cannot link to the current US govt-not saying you are like this, but some people only need half an excuse to jump on the anti-USA, anti-Bush bandwagon.

this is based quite a bit on "julius caesar" by Shakespeare. The revolution is a new twist. This movie IS bashing Bush, but it also bashes any other political leader on the face of the planet since the beginning of political leaders. Great movie, by the way.

Ideals? That a revolution consists of one man? That in order to be free and liberated, destruction of historical works of architecture and culture must occur? Romanticizing a conspiracy in which religious radicals plot to kill the Protestant rulers in order to establish their own monarchy? Did you even watch this film?
F33bs 4 years ago
The revolution didn't consist of one man but, he was the leader. He didn't just destroy a historical architecture, he destroyed a "symbol" which is different and indeed meaningful. What's wrong about romanticizing? Did you even watch this film?
Benderrr111 4 years ago

2.Yea our economy gets better but um while troops are over fighting a war, immigrants come and take a lot of jobs. This means that a lot of troops are out of work when they get back cause there will be no jobs left at this rate.

Here are some quotes, which I think say it all.

Have you forgotten about all these clowns in the Senate that actually passed the legislation?

not to mention it's based on the book 1984

The filmmakers inserted references to Iraq and America to create a sense of realism, references to the current day. Not a political statement at all.
