La meilleure cuisine au monde, pour moi, c'est la cuisine vietnamienne. En ce qui concerne les restaurants, TP HCM ( Saigon) est une grande ville, il faut bien des restaurants " haut de gamme". Il est évident qu'on mange mieux dans les marchés Saigon, Cholon, Tan Dinh etc.. déguster des vrais plats, des plats authentiques. Le PHO est un plat (soupe) parmi des centaines d'autres, pour ne pas dire des milliers d'autres.

I just came back 1 month ago. What a nightmare trip. I got sick in 10 days there, just because of their foods. Damn. It's a bunch of viruses. I went to doctor, and he said that I got infect by foods. Everything is so damn expensive. No more Viet Nam. All I love about Viet Nam is the poor people. Sorry about my comment, but the truth is still the truth.

Those restaurants are way too expensive for the average Vietnamese. Vietnamese people are not in shape, if they want to have fun, they eat. Always eating at anytime from anywhere. They should spend more times for sports. Look at some of those fat faces.

I'm not Saigonese, nor are the majority of the ppl that go to these crowded restaurants. Most r people like me- Non-Saigonese. Example: In America theres a very crowded chain of Pho restaurants that do not taste good. They are filled with non-viet people that do not know what good pho tastes like. To them, however, it is good since they have never experienced anything better. The place with only 4 or 5 customers at a time has been around for 15+ years, being run by Viet immigrants is the best.

My point still stands- and stronger than your point. An over-crowded restaurant with less-than-great food is just an example of good marketing tactics. This is the same for ANY BUSINESS in the WORLD, not just Saigon. How do you think McDonalds is so successful, even though their food is sub-par and borderline disgusting? It's called MARKETING. roboedar, I agree with you that non-viet people do not know what a perfect Pho taste like. I believe that for any soup dish, if the broth isn't great, the whole soup is just bad (e.g. oily etc).
