Armenians were killed under the order of the triumvarate (Talaat, Enver and Jemal), most Turks were unaware of the genocide just like in Germany alot of Germans were unaware that Hitler was killing Jews. It is important for Turkey as a whole to recognise this as it is actions done by the Ottoman government of that time, not all of the US killed us but they are responsible for our death. Be realistic here, no one is attacking you for being Turkish, there are many Turks I know who do recognise the genocide and fight for Armenian rights. Taner Akcam, Orhan Pamuk, Fatma Gocek have all helped and faught for Armenian Genocide recognition.
The fact alone that is was illegal shows a government which oppresses minorities .
As to civilians what about groups like Bozturkler and Ergenekon and Grey Wolves who murdered thousands of innocent people

First please look at what you are saying, Armenians are not European, Armenia is right next to you, they are indigenous Middle Easteners since the time of Hayk in near 2500 B.C.

Armenian people have lived in our country for centuries. if we wanted to kill them we could do it wayy earlier. They were our brothers until they were encouraged and armed by russia during WW1. they were given promises of great armenia which was gonna divide turkey into 3 states. As a result turkish government deported them in the winter and forced them to walk 800 km. Manjy of them died ont he way but thats not genocide.

armenianw were given weapons, guns etc. they attacked turkish villages and killed people. Then ottoman empire has deported them in the winter upon passing from snowy mountains and made trhem walked 1000 k.m. many people died on the way.. but that is not a genocide. that happened durin WW1. armenians betrayed their country and attacked them inside.
