The Computer is a Cheating Bastard trope is in full force here, rearing its ugly head and roaring scarily - that Super Nerd was way too evil and "logical"...just like the logic of the AI!
Grr....The CPUs are evil in this game, just like the Battle Tower in later handheld games (and I don't know about Collussem, XD and the like).
You weren't a big fan of Ed, Edd, N Eddy, you heathen, but seriously, I love that show, despite having the same issue you did, that it almost never ends good for the protagonists. With that saidI think you should warch the Ed, Edd, N Eddy movie, if you haven't. you'll be surprised in more ways then one.
They still show it on Cartoon Network, continuosly since it started! And I know the plots to like all the episodes by heart, having watched them all practically dozens of times!
I'm usually against having two guys doing commentary but Cal is not making a nuisance of himself, one Lets Play I was watching of a game had too much jibber-jabber between the the two players and not enough on the game. You two at least commentate on the game and what's going on, I'm happy about that.
He has dual commentary, but only he does actual voice commentating.
He has a co-host (with the name of Death Note's best detective no less) who provides text commentary. It is a little weird in that Horromanic13 doesn't have his co-host actually there (or so it seems), so his co-host's witty responses are never responded to themselves (except by us, the viewers, of course).
@100bulbasaurs I swear, sometimes it's like the game can hear you (as in the player who might talk out loud while playing).
Everyone knows the game (this one especially, but others too sometimes) doesn't take well to having it's "child/ren" (i.e. the AI, probably could also include the individual characters) badmouthed.
Hence, as soon as he said that it sucks to be on the AI's side, it got angry and went all Mama Bear/Papa Wolf Unstoppable Rage on them. :O
@EvilXANAVirus It does indeed, especially if you say "there's just no way it can use a OHKO move on me three times in a row without it failing" that seems to make it never let you win.
@100bulbasaurs Or you say "Hah, there's no way that you will outspeed me even if you might have a Quick Claw, get a supereffective critical hit KO on my pokemon who is right now at full health, and then have almost half my moves on my next one with like 50% or higher chance of hitting miss- Nope, you can't be that lucky...".
To suffice, if the computer WILL win by something redicious like the above, that's EXACTLY what will happen, especially if you're playing Stadium or the Battle Tower.
Or, finally, you say "Hmm, So you got one Double Team pulled off. Big deal..."
[later]
"What? You only used Double Team ONCE! I've missed 5 consecutive turns in a row!".
Of course, if you decide to try Double Team, you can be sure that even getting 6 Double Teams isn't going to have that same effectiveness as when THEY use it - Oh no, they'll be just fine...In fact, you pretty much could say you wasted the last 6 turns!
This is more of an example of Tempting Fate (look it up on tvtropes).
The one thing you NEVER do is tempt fate (or the game, your call), because it will actively attempt to prove you wrong otherwise.
One more thing, it's a bad idea to taunt or make witty banter at the AI when you aren't guarenteed victory (very good bait to tempt fate with), especially when they:
A. Have the advantage over you or B. Have a chance to rebound and derail your plans.
@DarkAeroWarrior Well, my Double Team example isn't an example of tempting fate (I'm pretty sure), but I will admit the others are leaning more towards that.
My fault.
Double Team's double standard *should* be purely an example of the computer cheating, right?
Technically, I wasn't talking about Double Team, I was talking about your earlier comment of where 'the game hears what you are talking about out loud and makes things go horribly wrong for you' thing.
Double Team is just one of the many 'AI has the advantage' thing of my 'don't taunt or make witty banter to AI if your NOT guarenteed victory' speech.
Kinda the same thing, if your trying to knock-out the AI's pokemon and you forget the type of advantage they have over you.
"I like Z... wait, let me try that again"
I got it :3

@EvilXANAVirus The AI in stadium is all knowing and all powerful, though the fire emblem AI can be even more cruel than that!
