My grandfather is now 82 years old and now depends on me to do most anything around the house. this song brings back good memories of my hero teaching me, the life skills I need at 22. Thank you for bringing back memories of the good old days.

  • @tombo032309 My grandfather servered in Korea in the Air Forche.. He is 82 as well.

We shared the same Birthday and the same career choices. My daughter misses him more than I do sometimes Im just glad she got to know her Grandpa. He will forever be missed SEMPER FI Dad 11-15-50 to 9-20-10

  • rip grandaddy earl

  • This song is true meaning..

    Love it.. It's awesome..

Love songs with a great story to it...

  • This song makes me think of my grandfather and great grandfather. Both were in the army air corps/USAF and I followed in their footsteps. We lost my grandfather to alzhiemers last year and everytime I hear this, I hear his voice telling me not to worry about going into the military, it will all work out and he has been there before. Amazing song with a great message! They just don't make songs like this anymore!

  • @Texan4ever85 Bravo for your grandfather and great grandfather and u as well.

U are a true hero in the eyes of America..

My grandfather served 23 years in the Air Force..

I salute u.. And hope you get to spend Christmas with your family...

  • this song is great...I just love it

  • My Dad left this world Thanksgiving night, 24 years ago, and I miss him more today than ever. I'm glad I got from him what I did... unconditional love. Too bad I was too stupid to see it for what it was when he was still here. I miss you Dad!!

  • @RAY1999J I lost mine 2 years 5 months ago. I always knew what he passed on to me but it didnt really sink in till he was gone. People dont "get over it" or "move ON"...it changes you as a person. I miss mine to.im sure i will in 22 years as well:(

  • Jesus what a song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • After watching Forrest Gump this weekend and watching this now, I notice similarities. I like it. I like how they both coincide.

  • This is a great song! In my book the best ever!

  • Miss you buddy!I'll never forget the good times-- they keeep me going!".Love , happiness and courage to go strong until then...."

  • I think the thing that sucks most about life is written in this song.. "you can't hold back the hands of time"... some memories I wish I could just relive everyday and I'm sure everyone else out there has those same types of memories...

  • This is actually the only country singer i like to listen to C: <33

  • MY GOD I MISS MY DAD!!!!!

  • This is one of the best songs of all time, by one of the best bands of all time. It is just a very true song and very relatable.

  • I love this song, I remember hearing it when it I was younger not quite knowing what it meant, but feeling connected. Now that im older it is so true!!!!!

  • This song made me cry the first time i heard it cause it's true. I'm not a son but I feel that my dad knows what im going through

  • I'm not a parent of a soldier or a parent at all, and I don't have any family currently in the armed forces all the family I have that have served in the armed forces are either a dead veteran that's died from non war related causes or a living veteran. But I can understand the worst fear in a parents mind when their kid joins the army or navy and they board that plane to a foreign counry is that they'll come home in a box covered in Ol' glory.

  • I am a hick. And I wouldn't have it any other way!! COUNTRY TILL I DIE!!!!! This is a sad, but beautiful song. People need to quit bickering and enjoy the damn music.

  • I love this song and "thats my job"

  • my dad used to play this song every day on our ride to school. i cried then when he put it on and i still cry when i hear it today

  • Great... Concert? I don't know, I was sitting on a pile of hay.

  • Unless your parent sucked as a parent or is sick to the point u cant take care of them u should never put them in a home

  • HOLY CRAP I FORGOT ABOUT THIS SONG, HAVEN'T HEARD IT IN FOREVER! Sorry just a little excited lol.

  • Feelin this song, you know some songs just hit you like a bullet to the chest! Thats what makes them great.

  • I love this song and have been looking for the video (which I wasn't even sure there was one) thanks so much for uploading! You just made my night!

  • Beautiful..

  • God bless dads.

  • Awesome Song, I Love It

  • what a beautifull song

  • my daddy taught me to be the man I am today and this song reminds of him and how hard he tried to teach me to be a real man. I would be be a piece of crap if i had not had a hero to look up to like him. I love you dad.

  • i love this song it reminds me of my dad telling me what was right and wrong in my life he was my hero ,my best friend and most of all my father. R.I.P daddy 1957-2010

  • This is the story of a man that was the father he was meant to be, and a son that followed his example. Sadly not every man is like this. But I was blessed to have one that was. It is a beautiful song, beautiful video and like someone said, it makes me cry and smile at the same time.Thank you for posting.

  • I sure do miss songs like this that told a story.

  • If todays country music was even half as good as this, I would still be listening.

  • 14 poeple got whatever they wanted when they were growing up

  • this is my son i try travel th e globe to give my services to the highest bidder but one day as his mom says the wars will end

  • i have a 3 year old son that will be starting preschool here in the next couple of years, n im not so much worried about him crying as he leaves as much as myself. i stay at home with my son during the days and work nights to make ends meet, so not having him there during the day will be tough, while he will start to grow up and make new friends and not be so dependant on me. but like my father was there for me when, i will be there for my son. i love you kolton, n youll always be my little guy!

  • This song makes me think of my father, he is so important in my life. I will share this with my son when he is older.

  • Awesome song and a great video!

  • How can people dislike this song?

  • @JeffStaples1982 the same reason they cannot find their ass with both hands and a map!!!!

  • ONE OF THE BEST VOICES IN COUNTRY MUSIC <3

  • @tjn21rawr yep thumbs up to that, had to chase the local country station to play them they didn't get a lot of airplay over here but do now.

  • WOW!!! i want this played at my funeral. still one of my favorites.

  • antrejas in all his or her brilliance obviously does not speak LOL Cat. Who is the ignorant hick now?

  • @sherrijean30

His. Ignorant means lacking education or knowledge. I'm aware of the origins, but I choose not to partake. I miss the 90's The Golden Age of the internet. :'(

  • @Antreges Why is Michael Keaton singing this song?

  • @sherrijean30 Just because we dont portray ourselves as uneducated youth on the internet doesnt make us ignorant, on the contrary, it's your type of people thats ignorant to civilized society.

  • Retarded; To cause to move or proceed slowly; delay or impede.

Call me a grammar nazi but; "Dis iz an awwwsum vid, there teh best band evar1!" appears to be a brain with serious impediment.

Even if that impediment is some "deeply caring sensitive" sucker who advocates not marking tests in red, nor using the word retarded, and giving everyone an A regardless. I'm an aspie; for me it's you neuro-typicals who are retarded. Yet you just assumed I meant special needs; arrogant hick; aren't you?

  • @Antreges i would have to disagree bout them being the best band ever

  • @Antreges neuro-typicals are da bomb

  • @Antreges

I agree with you. Autism is not retarded, and I despise the word "retard" because it offends those who I care for.

  • @MelJeanIrishQueen ok I'm sorry for butting in and I know this ain't a conversation I'm involved in but I have to say this. If being called a retard offends you, you're not retarded. Because it offends you, you can understand the meaning behind the word. There is a reason mentally retarded people are "tard happy" and not understanding the insult behind the word retard is part of it.

  • @Antreges you annoy me.

  • My dad has already been in my shoes and he tries comfort me before i go fight for my country . ok i lost my dad in 2000 he was killed by a gamewarden who lied to him about killing a legal deer and then giving him a tick for an illegal deer . my dad severed in vetnam killed what ever he had to to get back home . if you do not like our country you can leave with your own person or we will make you leave.

  • I wish I had the money to shoot a video to this song. I've got a great idea.

  • Love this video........as we are nearing return to school for our children. Makes me somewhat sad............

  • @tickerbell1982 i listen to some rap mostly metal but some classic country a good song is a good song no matter what

  • love this video. reminds me of when i was younger. how time flys

  • Good song!

  • Love this song, so beautiful and meaningful. Miss when music meant something and wasn't just noise.

  • the name of this song is i've been in your shoes plz correct it

  • @velvetfire96 I'm looking at the CD in my hand, dumb ass. The name of the song is and always was "The Walk" Don't believe me? Google it. And when you realize you are wrong please remove your comment and refrain from ever commenting on someone's post again.

  • @velvetfire96

the name of this song is The Walk yes it said I've been in your shoes, but the name of the song is The Wak

  • Alot of people my age could never appreciate good music cause they are so blind to what the lyrics are saying all they care about today is if its got a beat and few rhyming words that talk about sex it just amazes me how low as a society we have come. 14 of them will never know true meaning in music . There shouldnt be a dislike button if you dont like it then leave and dont put down what you dont understand.

  • @Joshwbhs2010

I agree with you 100% most people these days don't know what good music is, I'm 29 years old and my mom and dad listened to country music, so I grew up listening to it and my husband listens to it also, but my brother and his wife listens to that rap shit as does my husband's brother and sisters, I just don't get what they get out of litening to that rap shit.

  • @tickerbell1982 The people that listen to rap probably wonder what you get out of listening to this country shit. By the way, this is a great song. : )

  • @Joshwbhs2010 u are so fucking stupid and only your dumb white ass would like a song where the person turns their back on their father at the end i would put my dad in a home cause he is a dick but never my mom cause she took care of me but he has a good dad he just threw away

  • @devore504 there is no back turning here or putting your dad in a nursing home. it was talking about dying.

  • @devore504 i meant it never said he DID put his dad in the nursing home.

  • @Joshwbhs2010 not true I Have always cared about what the words saying.

  • I played this song at my dads funeral, as I sat there, I rememberd all the talks we had when I was a kid and through out my teenage years. when I need advice, I just listen to this song and it's like my dad is talking to me. thanks for posting the video.

  • I think time stands still when a country song like this plays. Whether you're 10, 40, or 80 years old Songs like this make you think about your life and where its heading.

  • @Greasekind14 I agree.It's good to know I'm not alone.

  • One of the most beautiful song ever made.

  • @FlaggDies... I'm so sorry for your loss, look to God in your time of need. Seek Him out and have Faith that God will carry you through your trials. Only God knows what you are truly feeling and what you are going through, and by keeping your Faith strong, he will help you. The advice you seek, God has your answers. I'll say a prayer for you, remember God loves you.

  • @sammical2003 Thank you for your prayers. I named my daughter Faith. To remind me to have more of it and to teach it to her. And I will get through It was a long time ago but that day I was particulary sad because I had a relazation that My father wasn't here for my little girl to be a granddad too. I thought of this song that I remember from along time ago. I watched it and Felt alot of emotions that I haven't for a while. So I posted what I was feeling.

  • @sammical2003 I Know who God is. I love God. Sometimes I have Hated God. But I know now that what happened to my father and us was hard, but it was the start of my life. Not the end of it. So do not pity me. Pray for me. As I will pray for you. I am the person I am today because of the trials that I faced in my life. I am better for them.. I learned that it is better to live in the fire of life and pray to be a stronger person than it is to pray for an easier life. I am worthy, I am Loved.

  • @FlaggDies Amen to that then! Faith is what keeps me going everyday! Keeping my faith in God strong and never loosing sight of what God has in store for me helps me to get thru each day!

  • @FlaggDies Amen to that then! Faith is what keeps me going everyday! Keeping my faith in God strong and never loosing sight of what God has in store for me helps me to get thru each day!

  • @FlaggDies Amen to that then! Faith is what keeps me going everyday! Keeping my faith in God strong and never loosing sight of what God has in store for me helps me to get thru each day!

  • Very nice work here..I had forgotten all about this little country classic..

  • This is my favorite of all voices. Hands down. I love a lot of groups and people, but this voice.......

  • I will never Forget The Day My Father Died. I was 10 Years old. I laid in the same bed with him when he passed holding him. Cancer... There were 5 of us kids and we were lost with out him. And yet I have never needed him more now at 28 than at any other time in my life. I need him to be a grandfather to my little girl. I need him for advice on with my relationship wife, on raising my child, and just life in general. And the sadest part is that I never got to be friends with him. I Love you Dad.

  • @FlaggDies I'm sorry to hear that. This is a sad story, and i feel for you. The part that touched me was when you held him after he passed. May god bless you and your family.

  • Haven't heard this song since I was a little boy. Thank you for having this uploaded. Brought a tear of joy to my eyes.

  • I grew up listening to Sawyerbrown... im 23 and sit back i remember sitting on my parents house boat listening to them... everywhere i would go my parents had them on. Now as a parent everywhere i go i have them on... I have bought at least 13 of there greatest hit cd because i wear them out.

  • I love 90's country. It can make you cry and feel happy at the same time.

  • I'm not too much on country music, but Sawyer Brown is great...

  • Love this song its awsome enough said

  • This was my very first CD. Got it for christmas one year with a new boom box.

  • I love this song

  • This is True Country.

  • Any man that has a good relationship with their father, son, grandpa knows what this is all about.... one of my all time favorites.

  • a classic country song!! Love Sawyer Brown!!

  • I have seen Sawyer Brown do this song at least 3 times live... As a girl now, I relate to this song as much as anyone else. I love this song so much. I miss this kind of country, the ones with real, true and genuine stories. If country music was still like this, I would probably listen to the radio more.

  • I may be a girl, but I can relate to this song. There is plenty I don't want to do but that is why I am always welcomed into Daddy's room when I get up on that big old bed of his and snuggled up to him while he is reading the whole world and the hands of time seem to stop or at least move a little slower if just for awhile.

  • I love old country, the songs that make you cry...thats my type

  • Wow been so long since ive heard this, I miss old country like this, Tracy Lawrence, and Joe Diffie!

  • Saw them in concert in the 90s...fantastic show!

  • @All1World4U I saw them back in 99, at the Molalla Bucka-Roo Rodeo, Best live band I've ever seen. Mark really does jump ALL over that stage! He can really move!

  • @edcrabb, I saw them in Lake Placid, NY...touring with Tobi Keith. A great show! Yes, Mark really can move across that stage!

  • simply one of my favorite country songs of all time. all men can relate to this..... what a heck of a song!

  • Whatever happened to these guys? What are they up to now?

  • @somegalfromcan Sawyer Brown is alive & well. They are the closing act for opening night party at the 2011 Country Thunder Music Festival in Florence, Az. on Thur (4-7-11).

  • @smleek1969 Cool! Have they released anything new recently?

  • I saw them play here in St Augustine FL years ago. It was awesome to see them. I shook 4 out of 5 of their hands and got autographs too..... I still enjoying listening to them.

  • and i would say that i would give my life to my country, but considering that i never really ever risked my life,i cant say yes,as we all know what we think isent allways what will happen.

  • @billy3rdkill0311,ehh no communist country would not be better,PERIOD,and you served?then i highly respect you for that, but if you ask me this country has been going down hill,so ill stick with warrior :|

  • IMO the best song Sawyer Brown ever did.

  • True Country Music. Defines life.

  • Beautiful and touching song and video.

  • Thanks for this heartrending, little song.

It tooks me by my hand and condact me in the past
