Yeah its possible but its a very advanced move and has to be done at a relatively high speed.

Basically, when he throws the wheel to the right at a high speed it forces the car to oversteer. Then he corrects the slide by managing the throttle while letting the car's power steering turn the wheel back to center.

Yep, done it a few times in my car (minus the clicking of the thumbs lol). You can throw a car out around a corner just like that and let the wheel go, and the wheel straghtens itself, it's actually quite smooth if you have good rev control.
