It's true that the Undertaker was supposed to be some kind of sublime primal force, but if anybody could be calm facing such a thing it would have to be someone like the Ultimate Warrior. That was his gimmick. It was kind of a surreal Native American stereotype and he played off that really well. The interesting thing about this promo is that he displays the same attitude but with pause. He's evasive and hesitant. What ruins it for me though is the last line. I can agree that that was a mistake.
Yes, the Ultimate Warrior played his character very well but I don't think he really told a story here as is supposed to be the way in a promo. Heenan and Vince were trying to get him to describe what it was like so that people would realise how 'powerful' the Undertaker is and Warrior didn't even put over Taker's 'power' at all till prompted by Vince and Heenan.

@Beltmark McMahon is MUCH better dressed today than he was back in the 80s and early-90s. At least he TRIES to look good now.
Twenty years ago, he was hosting WWF Superstars & Prime Time Wrestling wearing an absolutely hideous light blue leisure suit (or the occasional Zubaz striped sweatsuits or the "Penguin on Acid" get-up that you see in this video).

(post continued)... Heenan and Vince tried desperately to get him to put Taker over and build the tension but Warrior didn't get it.
It pains me to criticse him because he was my 1st favourite wrestler but the criticism is justified in this piece I think.

It's true that the Undertaker was supposed to be some kind of sublime primal force, but if anybody could be calm facing such a thing it would have to be someone like the Ultimate Warrior. That was his gimmick. It was kind of a surreal Native American stereotype and he played off that really well. The interesting thing about this promo is that he displays the same attitude but with pause. He's evasive and hesitant. What ruins it for me though is the last line. I can agree that that was a mistake.

Yes, the Ultimate Warrior played his character very well but I don't think he really told a story here as is supposed to be the way in a promo. Heenan and Vince were trying to get him to describe what it was like so that people would realise how 'powerful' the Undertaker is and Warrior didn't even put over Taker's 'power' at all till prompted by Vince and Heenan.

you that on "the self destruction of the ultimate warrior " where every wrestler, commentator and vince slags the ultimate warrior off for being odd and joke that he couldnt conduct an interview? well doesnt this just proove them wrong? i mean a bad wrestler? or just good at doing what he was told? i loved the excitement of his matches. unlike flairs or harts.

Umm no he didnt prove anyone wrong I'm afraid. I was a big fan of the Warrior and still am but Undertaker was a big star in the WWE and meant to be feared. All the fans and Warrior himself should've had doubts whether Warrior could get the job done thus creating suspense: 'Is this too much for even the Warrior?' or 'Is he gonna get hurt?' are things people could've thought.. Warrior cast aside the worries and reassured everyone he'd win which kills the excitement...
