Dude, I'd kill for detailed pictures of your bamboo selfbow. I'm searching allover the internet, but it's really hard to find someone who has achieved doing that.
What's truly great about that video is the way you use the back quiver! Back quivers seem to be rarely used these days and finding a decent one, adjusting it, and using it well is not as easy as some might think. Can you please tell what kind of quiver that is, and maybe post a video showing how it's made, how you put it on, and how you use it?
The quiver I#M using is selfmade... think of it as a piece of leather formed as a flat tube. It is stiched together with a simple leather cord through holes made by piercing nails through the edges of the leather. With the same technique I attached a "belt" to it. To get a better grip on my arrows, I pusch the bottom of the quiver a litte bit up with my bowhand. Works good for me. There are many build-alongs everywhere in the internet. just google hill style quiver, back quiver, etc.
@peropolero Its been hard to find the right materials for these ancient style bows, from sinew strings to cane or viburnum arrows..and the archery shops just sell compound bows, they know nothing about this stuff.
Nice bow but, if I may, not to good of a technique!
Try shooting using backpull. you're using pure arm power.
Stay in a upright position but straight and use your back muscles to pull. It will help you hold your arrow much longer giving a better aim to it. What you do is Legolas style, pretty cool and combatty but far from effective!
that seems right for target shooting and for shooting "high tech" fiberglas bows. With selfbows you will loose performance holding the arrow too long in an ankered position. concerning the upright position you are talking about... most turnaments i attend, one will have no chance standing upright... mostly there you have to find your way through the trees and bushes, half lying half knieling... but that is not standard I guess ;-)
Holy Crap, someone shooting a wooden bow w/o a ton of crap bolted to it! Good show man, nice vid. I shoot recurve myself, wood w/ glass laminate, no sights, stabilizers etc...
I quite enjoyed that video ;) Very nice.

A pleasant dud of a vid:)

Nice vid, but why do you use back quiver? For this type of bow the side quiver is more quicker and easier to use.
