  • I just got the 2-8x M-223 and zeroed it the other day. Only shot 40 rounds that day and the locking mechanism on the windage turrent broke. It can still adjust windage but won't lock down anymore. Just spins freely and it worked fine before and during zeroing. My first Nikon and my last.

  • @AKSKSMAN That sucks. Are you going to send it in and have Nikon fix it?

  • @GunsKnivesSurvival Yeah I'll send it to them but I don't like the repair process so far. They have a form you fill out on their site then you send them the scope with the form and they will either fix it under warranty or email you the cost to repair. Better not cost me anything since it's only been 10 days since I bought it.

  • I purchased the nikon m223 2-8x34 BDC. Took about 10 shots to get zero'd at 100yrds. After that I took my first shot at 200 yrds While leaning against the side of tree. The shot was dead on and impact zone was in a 1" bullseye. My only complaint is the BDC is clibrated for 8X and the front lens cover spring broke within 10 mins of use...that's okay I'll use the ARD. I was impressed with the light drawn in. I mounted olight's m20 and can shoot clearly at night. It's amazing for a nonlit rectical.

  • Nice video! I'm debating between getting this and the Burris AR-332 for my S&W MP15. For this Nikon, is there enough room for BUIS?

  • @thutmose4 Thanks. You could add a BUIS, but you'd have to remove the scope to use it, so yes and no. Take care.

  • @GunsKnivesSurvival you could mount back ups at 45 degree angle..daniel defense sells mounts

  • @guty2527 Thanks for the compliment! The M223 rocks, I like everything about it so far with one exception... I wish it had an illuminated reticle. I took it night shooting (the only light was a very bright full moon) and I had trouble seeing the crosshairs. But that would mean a higher purchase price as well. Other than that I love it. The bullet drop compensation reticle works like a dream. I don't know anything bout the Vortex. Good luck with your purchase! Let me know what you decide!

  • I just bought a new rock river advanced tactical hunter with that same Burris mount. Only mine didn't come with extra set of rings with the picatany rails.

  • @Mr223wssm That's Odd. Maybe they discontinued something.

  • Nice demo and great vid.

  • @LEXPIX Thank you!

  • Good Review. I particularly liked seeing and hearing about the scope mount and how it interacts with the front sight post.

  • @RiflemanFirst Thank you. I finally got to take this out for some night shooing. The scope does a great job of amplifying light, but the crosshairs are hard to see in the dark. Still, great scope for the money.

  • The nikon website doesn't show the 1-4 power is available with the BDC reticle...Is yours really a BDC....Where did you get it?

  • @Hd28cw Yes mine really has the BDC reticle. I got it from MidwayUSA.

  • Excellent review. I've been wanting to take a look at one of these scopes for a while. I am very impressed with the design of the turrets. Can't wait to shoot it :)

  • @TheAnomalos You'll get your chance. Maybe the next full moon?

  • Thanks for the review. Will be soon building my first AR-15. Going simple with a DPMS kit and will be putting on this Nikon Scope. Im huge into photography so I was partial to the brand but nice to know they can make scopes that kick ass along with there camera lenses.

  • @BARobinson13 I'm glad this helped. Good luck on your AR build! Let me know how it turns out.

  • Great video, you sold me on this model. I did notice however you dont have a back up iron sight in case the scope goes tits up.

  • @NIKON777 Thank you! I need to get a flip up, but I'm not sure what to get.

  • Cool! Sounds like a great scope!

  • @milkbig550 Cool. I shot a wedding reception and did a little fun photography on the side but that's about it.

  • Damn, that's some nice glass!

  • @beaker126 I'm digging it.

  • nikon glass is second to none for the most part. Even Canon photographers agree with the fact that Nikon Glass is good, hell its so good that the earliest Canon cameras featured Nikkor lenses

  • I didn't know that Nikon made rifle scopes!

  • @TheCanadianKnifeGuru Sure enough.

  • i want that scope for my 20" A2 :O

  • @milkbig550 Up until not I've had a couple of their point-and-shoot cameras and the D40X DSLR. This is my first Nikon Scope.

  • what is the price point/range?

  • @jimrbsn The scope can run around $320. I got mine for $260.

  • @GunsKnivesSurvival That is not bad at all for what you get. I will have to consider it for an optics upgrade I have been thinking about.

  • Nice choice.

You can sometimes get away with using your cross hairs or their mil dots for range estimation.

I use 18" and 6" lengths of caution tape and place them at varying distances and then compare the size to my cross hair size.

This way I can usually guess how far a target is based on a comparison to it's size in relativity to my cross hair.

Congrats on your long range endeavor.

Next you're gonna want a new trigger. ;)

  • @1unaveragejoe Great tips. Thank a lot!

  • Well done, nice scope!

  • @dafrogtoad Thank you sir!

  • @milkbig550 This is certainly the best optic I've owned to date.

  • Third

  • Cool video. I wish my PEPR mount came with 2 sets of top rings. I only have the ones with the rails, which I dont use. I need to look into a set of the plain ones. Thanks

  • @fatboyR6 Thank you. I wasn't sure about the mount at first, but I think it's going to perform well.

  • Very nice scope and review.Have a great Holiday weekend.

  • @unomas58 Thanks. Take care and be safe.
