They were aged from 16-19, and were pupils who had failed at getting to 5 A*-Cs you need in your GCSEs to get anywhere. for various reasons. Draw your own conclusions there!
Appropriate that a political animal should talk to these mostly moronic kids: the Commons also sounds like animals on heat. Harlem and the thumbsucker are two of the stupidest examples of cretinosity I've yet seen. Learning is an attitude. You can see in the faces of kids whether or not you should even bother. The difference between this class and five year-olds isn't in knowledge level: the smaller kids may even know more. Plus have the sense and basic humility to know when they do not know.
There is a way to set up a network where the teacher can see pupils' screens on his/her own monitor. Or you could simply tell them to close the laptops between exercises. Being able to use the internet as a research tool in an effective way is a vital skill to learn these days. The problem with the kids today is a lack of discipline, which parents just haven't been giving them even before they enter the classroom.
campbell and blair should be given fair trials for their war crimes and crimes against humanity then locked up for life and their assets stripped. a freshly soiled tray of cat litter should be put in their bare cells every two hours night and day into perpetuity. this should be broadcast over the internet so we could all make sure things stayed that way.
I like the way Alistair Campbell teaches, My Politics teacher is good at teaching, however It would be good if some of my other teachers taught similar to Alastair.
The way in which Alastair Campbell engaged the class & kept them interested was excellent. He did it by utilising a range of AV aids that the students were familiar with - eg. videos, use of laptops to search, pictures that were a mix of celebs & Politicians. He interacted well with the students. Top marks!
Someone made a comment about Margaret Thatcher. While she was, arguably, a remarkable PM, there were many negatives for which many are still suffering today.
I hate NuLieBore but I really enjoyed this 'lesson'. Campbell missed his calling; he should become a teacher and give something to society instead of 'taking' from it. NuLieBore has wrecked our country and our education system so it is hard to watch this knowing that this man was one of the worst culprits.
NL went overboard with bureaucracy in schools but the Tories screwed the country far more. unemployment tripled under Thatcher and will probably do so again under Cameron. Low aspirations from generations of jobless and and I'm alright/screw everyone else culture is the real problme behind many of these kids' underachievement.
Alastair Campbell, the bully and war apologist. who the hell would put this bloke in front of kids. what a sick joke. does jamie oliver have no shame? i suppose if he was paid enough to develop a sense of shame he might consider it. corporate shill.
@maratpaine Campbell hardly tries to impress his political views on the kids (apart from saying he quite like Tony Blair). All he did was try to encourage an interest.
@mathnawi21 Campbell has a lot of heavy duty Karma coming his way. He has introduced a lot of suffering in to the world and continues to cause harm. He has no right to access the minds of the young.
If you believe bad acts build up negative karma (and I believe he acted improperly re Iraq for sure), don't you think good acts are worthwhile and build up positive karma? Shouldn't rehabilitation or second chances exist?
Maybe, but getting them to use a web search to actually look for information on politicians, current affairs, or historical events is quick and easy, and probably something they've never done before. Notice that they were still engaging with their classmates and the teacher.
Is it me? Or does it seem that allowing teenagers to freely access the internet when they're learning defeats the point? I have enough trouble consistently checking my facebook page when I'm surfing the net for pleasure, let alone if I were a disinterested pupil.
